"Rather than actually being about helping queer people around the world, Trump's campaign looks more like another instance of the right using queer people as a pawn to amass power and enact its own agenda," writes @mathewrodriguez. https://t.co/xKAP5u6ZvC

The Trump Administration just started a push for the decriminalization of homosexuality worldwide, with a big focus on nations like Iran where you can still be executed for being gay. The effort is being spearheaded by U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell, who is openly gay.
In an opinion article, Out writer Matthew Rodriguez states that the move by the Trump Administration has absolutely nothing to do with the administration trying to defend LGBT rights, with him bring up examples such as the ban on transgender troops in the US military as to why they aren’t a friend to the LGBT community. The tweet above was quickly ratioed with comments from both supporters and enemies of the Trump administration over their opposition to the move.
Overall, after bringing up the 2016 Pulse shooting in a gay nightclub where 49 people were murdered by a man that swore allegiance to ISIS prior to the shooting, he appears to imply that the real reason Trump wants to push to decriminalize homosexuality isn’t for the benefit of homosexuals, but because it is a way he can make Muslims that live in countries like Iran that murder homosexuals look bad. Like the fact that they murder homosexuals in itself doesn’t make them look bad enough…
Regardless of how you feel about the Trump Administration, do you think it is a good thing that they are pushing for this, or should they leave those other countries alone and let them enforce their laws as they seem fit? Would it matter if it was Trump doing the push or if it was a Democratic president?
