Sorry for the second thread today, but...

The Hill

Samantha Bee is taking heat for using a profane term to describe Ivanka Trump, whom she criticized for not challenging her father’s immigration policies.

“Ivanka Trump, who works at the White House, chose to post the second most oblivious tweet we’ve seen this week,” Bee, host of TBS's “Full Frontal," said during an opening segment on Wednesday’s show focused on separating migrant children from their parents at the Mexico–United States border.

Displaying a Sunday tweet from President Trump’s 36-year-old daughter featuring an image of her holding her son, Bee said, “You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another: do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless c---.”

The remark from Bee came just a day after ABC pulled the plug on Roseanne Barr’s top-rated comedy, the rebooted “Roseanne,” after the comedian posted a racist tweet targeting former Obama White House adviser Valerie Jarrett.

And of course, her critics come from the likes of conservative pundits, such as Megyn Kelly, Janice Dean, Dana Loesch and Mark Levin. Don't even get me started on Twitter either.

Again, I have to ask, don't these people want the left to be anti-PC? So when someone on the left makes an anti PC remark, especially towards any of the Trump family, they still complain? Is it only okay when their pundits (ex: Milo, who's called others the same word Bee used on Ivanka) do it to the left?

In perspective, Stephen Colbert was in a similar controversy over his comments to Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin last year.

When someone they don't like says something they don't like, everyone's a snowflake.

I think Bee may survive this as a female saying something sexist to another female. It's spewing crap outside their own group that gets a person in real trouble.

Bee has been calling politicians c*nts, d*cks, motherf*ckers, and p*ssies (and I find it so ridiculous that I have to censor these words...) for over a year now, since Full Frontal started. Why the outrage now?

Edit:

I feel that with Colbert it was slightly difference, since people (mostly on the left) were upset that Colbert seemed to imply that being gay was somehow an insult. I didn't see the "c*ck holster" as a "gay is bad" comment, but many people did.

I think it might be to divert attention from the Shredder story which seems to be working overall, a story mostly missed it seems

She called her a c---. Pretty sure I can't write that on the forums. I guess it wasn't a sexist comment so much as a she called her a sexist term often used to demean women.

Same people who are glad Rosanne cancelled or Rosanne got heat are the ones that don't care about this. Go figure.

People pretending to be outraged over Bee as revenge for people pretending to be outraged over Rosanne. Outrage is the political stance of the decade.

Conservatives feel like there is a double standard and probably just lashing out because of Roseanne being cancelled for an offensive tweet.

It's pretty childish. How about we stop destroying individual lives on the internet over some dumb mistakes?

Can’t stand her, but it’s stupid to be “outraged” over her comment. Get over it.

Edit: and she apologized for it? Ugh, she should have told everyone to go f*%# themselves. Really can’t stand her.

Funny right-wingers ride off State Farm dropping Bee, yet they go batty when advertisers dare drop Breitbart (hilarious that they of all people would report this, considering look who was once on their team, as mentioned in OP), Sinclair and Fox News.

It's rare that you find someone in the public eye that is willing to throw away their career or **** up the lives of their co-workers / employees on principal.

Sure we often say "why don't these people just tell the critics to go to hell?" but the truth is when the critics start to **** with the money, which has been shown time and time again to be an effective tool, they cave. If you're some suit working in advertising, you don't want a bunch of bullshit controversy surrounding your product, you just want people to buy it and be on their way.

Sure you'll might gain some support by standing your ground, but if your show revenue is down because half your sponsors leave and half your staff is laid off, was it really worth it over a throwaway joke? The world is never black and white.

No, she pointed it out, what she didn't point out was that those pics were from facilities headed by Trumpists favorite Arizona sheriff, Joe Arpaio, a man with a burning hatred for Obama.

That is a different story. There's a difference between a woman calling another woman the c word, compared to a white woman using a racial slur towards blacks.

"But she deserves punishment for saying it" you might say, again, coming from the right-wing, that's rich considering it's been said that Trump did the SAME thing to Sally Yates and again, lord knows how many times Milo Yiannapoulos called feminist women the same thing and STILL kept his job at Breitbart up until the pedophilia controversy.

my take on it is this:

1. ABC likely should not have fired Rosanne and instead just let the chips fall where they may HOWEVER..

2. the intent of the show was to show inclusion, so it is reasonable for a business person to cancel something that isnt working as intended, if that is indeed the case. thus is not a cut and dry easy call.

The Right's position (effectively) to attack Samatha Bee given (effectily) how Rosanne was treated for one statement is not out of line in my view.

Bee does that every single night she is on.

On the other hand, fairness does not mean a person gets to speak on a megaphone about killing jews (as an example) either so where is the line? not easy to tell

also i should point out Bee and Rossane are comedians, the daughter of the president is in a different role.

A rich white woman tweeting racist things to a black woman is the definition of punching down. What Bee did is punching up in a comedy routine, which is genuinely allowed in comedy and happens all the time. It was an act. What Barr did was obvious vitriol and hatred compounded by her history of saying and doing even worse things. Additionally, by various accounts, Ivanka Trump is a terrible, terrible person, who is the daughter of a man worse than Barr and Bee combined.

I think she will be fine. I feel no sympathy towards her and I’m dumb founded that you care, or at least are pretending to care, but we both know it’s only in order to “stick it to the liberals”. How boring and sad.

Instead of practicing some critical thinking skills, clowns like you think every incident or conflict is analagous to something else to prove “both sides are the same!”, because conservatives lose the war of ideas 100% of the time on here and in reality. It’s brain dead thinking even a child could see through. Get a new act.

I see I see. Two comedians both attacked someone else but only the non-liberal feels the wrath. You can't have it both ways. I know you think you can because you've been brought up and raised that way but it doesn't work that way. Look at your pathetic attempt at justification and I stress pathetic. Trump is a terrible person but Jarrett is fantastic, huh? I'd bet every dollar I have that you hate Trump yet don't share the same feelings about the past administration where Jarrett was actively involved.

Asking for consistency is not defending or acting sympathetic towards anyone. Most employees would lose their job if they used hateful and charged words like Barr. She did. Most employees would lose their job if they used hateful and charged words like the tbs chick. She didn't. Clowns? You just defended a woman calling Trump a c^^t. That is embarrassing but typical for lefties like you.

Edit: Nothing of what both woman said was in the capacity as a comedian. One doesn't apologize if he/she is right.

@Solaryellow: lol, Roseanne Barr didn’t say it in the context of a comedic skit. It was a tweet expressly for demeaning Jarrett. How do you not know this? Again, the situations aren’t even remotely the same lol. Use your brain, for once.

You are not asking for consistency, you’re just trying to cover for Roseanne. That’s all it is lol. I’d wager your kind agreed with Roseanne’s comments and are too scared to admit it. So this attempt to make Bee the same as Roseanne is a pathetic attempt to prove the left are the same. Just be honest. Why are American conservatives incapable of being honest about what they really think? Oh I know why, because your views are trash the majority of the time they themselves are too scared to admit what they really are.

As for Jarrett, she’s a political aide. She isn’t a politician like Ivanka is. I doubt you even knew who she was before this incident.

Do you find it odd that rosanne got pulled from EVERYTHING for a tweet. Cosby is still on everything and raped pretty much a whole city?

The tbs "comedian" was not using it for comedy either but she's of your brood so the defense is in full posture. Take note she went beyond just calling Trump a c^^t. That was only part of it in case you are unaware.

Learn to comprehend before you respond. It makes things easier. Both women are comedians. Barr wasn't acting in such a capacity when she went on her rant and neither was the chick from tbs regardless how much you stomp your feet and say she was.. Her words lacked the humor associated with comedy. If her words were made in such a capacity, why has she apologized?

@Solaryellow: I’m not going to argue if the joke was funny or wasn’t but I tend not to enjoy comedy that is super crass. The fact is it was a comedy skit by Bee. Period. The fact you are disputing this is astonishing.

She shouldn’t have apologized. If anything she should have doubled down and continued to point out how awful and fake a human being Ivanka Trump is.

first off. comedy central is not ABC.

There isnt a centralized method of conduct that is immutable that cross along all liberals.

second off, as a liberal myself my position is that they should not have fired her (Rossane). I dont feel strongly about that position and I am flexiable because of the shows explict INTENT of 'demonstrating inclusion'

third off, I have eyes in a certain Trump supporter drunken honesty, and she has posted that she agrees with Rossanes comments and is posting images of Michael Obama with a race card as if that is somehow related to anything

So here is a question for you.

Is a person an asshole for calling a person an asshole for saying they their race is better than anyone elses? (as an example) where is the proportional line to 'fairness'?

I don't care what you like or dislike. The chick apologized for her "comedy." Why? She apologized for the same reason(s) Barr apologized. An innocent person stands their ground and defends their words rather than not. The crux of the matter is way over your head.

@Solaryellow: Nope. She apologized because the right is obsessed with proving liberals are just as bad as they are. If the Roseanne incident never happened she wouldn’t have apologized and you’d have never even known she called Ivanka a c***. I’m sorry you don’t understand this but it’s really easy to see. Better luck next time!

EXACTLY!

so true, their comeback is almost always 'well your just as bad' basically

which incidently when you think it about, is handing them (liberals) the lead and capitulating themselves (conservatives) to follow

You don't have any idea what she would or would not have done but you do know what she did.

What this woman did was recorded and aired for broadcast. Her whatever you want to call it was written and produced and I was going to say edited but TBS aired the show with the comments. Think about it for a moment. Expand your horizons and tell me what do you draw from all of it?

Holy shit your logic is astounding. How did you manage to come to the conclusion that Ivanka is a "politician" and not Jarret?

But don´t worry I know your answer is as pointless as the rest of your rants in this thread. Also, it´s amazing that someone from Canada has such feelings towards America, do you have plans to immigrate here? which is kinda strange since I recall you saying how great Canada is.

As to Bee´s comment, calling someone a C... , well it´s a bit out there but considering who bee is , not that surprising and not something to get upset over, after all she got passed over for The Daily show by a second-rate hack, who has turned something actually worth watching to a standup hack show.
