@Solaryellow: lol, Roseanne Barr didn’t say it in the context of a comedic skit. It was a tweet expressly for demeaning Jarrett. How do you not know this? Again, the situations aren’t even remotely the same lol. Use your brain, for once.

You are not asking for consistency, you’re just trying to cover for Roseanne. That’s all it is lol. I’d wager your kind agreed with Roseanne’s comments and are too scared to admit it. So this attempt to make Bee the same as Roseanne is a pathetic attempt to prove the left are the same. Just be honest. Why are American conservatives incapable of being honest about what they really think? Oh I know why, because your views are trash the majority of the time they themselves are too scared to admit what they really are.

As for Jarrett, she’s a political aide. She isn’t a politician like Ivanka is. I doubt you even knew who she was before this incident.

Holy shit your logic is astounding. How did you manage to come to the conclusion that Ivanka is a "politician" and not Jarret?

But don´t worry I know your answer is as pointless as the rest of your rants in this thread. Also, it´s amazing that someone from Canada has such feelings towards America, do you have plants to immigrate here? which is kinda strange since I recall you saying how great Canada is.

As to Bee´s comment, calling someone a C... , well it´s a bit out there but considering who bee is , not that surprising and not something to get upset over, after all she got passed over for The Daily show by a second-rate hack, who has turned something actually worth watching to a standup hack show.

i think we might actually agree, rare so not sure.

I will say this, if I was President one thing I would NEVER do is play moral equivalency simulator with comedians.

EVERYONE in that White House, even the friggin door man, should have higher standards then the court jester

Two comedians both said some harmful and/or offensive words depending on whom you ask) yet he automatically claims HIS side was acting like a comedian while the side he despises was not. Lets look at the two victims, if you will, of said comments. Ivanka Trump is an advisor to her father so she must be a politician according to our Canadian friend. On the other hand, Valerie Jarrett (who started in corrupt Chi-Town politics thirty years ago) is somehow not a politician to him. I don't know if it is as much inconsistency as it is him being ignorant and obtuse and not knowing about the person he is defending.

Actually Jarrett was a former Shum Landlord which qualifies her to be a political aid to Obama.

Trump really should be careful about the direction he is going.

1. he is trying to make moral relevancy between his role and that of a comic

2. if he is suggesting people need to be fired for making rude statements he should resign

Roseanne made a racist joke about black people looking like apes.

Samantha B called Ivanka a c*nt for not challenging her father's rather Nazi like policy of taking immigrant children away from their parents and throwing them in cages like animals.

In no way are these two things morally equivalent. Roseanne is a racist garbage human whose soul is dog shit. And now the whole world knows that. Samantha B is right and on the side of good, but stated her point in a vulgar way.

no she doesnt have integrity that is the whole point! he is not supposed to! but the Kings Daughter is supposed to, not the court jester.

jesus people

You're missing my point. I'm talking about the integrity towards her work. I say she has no integrity because she's a vulgar, crude woman who apologized for a vulgar, crude joke in order to try and appease people who never cared about her work in the first place. She has nothing to gain from this, other than maybe a sponsor coming back, while her viewers and fans are highly disappointed in her for apologizing.

trump is absolutely going to regret playing moral relevancy simulator with the Court Jester.

what a moronic move

Comedians ROLE are to not have regard for 'integrity' in any context, cant get out of it box.

'But I thought she at least had integrity'

first off you a liying, you never thought that.

second off she is not supposed to.

So before you go around jacking your SJW view of the world you best start with your own honesty

@tryit: What purpose does her apology serve, if it's not to appease those she offended? You're dancing around her pointless, cowardly apology in order to bash Trump.

Don't assume my motivations, because you know nothing of them. Social justice is repugnant.

Everyone in this thread should watch Black Mirror - The Waldo Moment.

Comedians are not supposed to have 'integrity' and they are not supposed to be taken with the same moral equivalency as real leaders.

@tryit: You realize integrity has more than one definition, right? It's not all about moral righteousness. I'm talking about someone who has solidarity with their own viewpoints, who is not a hypocrite or a sell-out. Bill Maher and Stephen Colbert have integrity. Samantha Bee and Rosanne do not.

I think Bee may survive this as a female saying something sexist to another female. It's spewing crap outside their own group that gets a person in real trouble.

What was sexist about it?

She called her a c---. Pretty sure I can't write that on the forums. I guess it wasn't a sexist comment so much as a she called her a sexist term often used to demean women.

That's just insulting, not sexist. If she had called her "a c*** that needs to get back in the kitchen", that would be sexist.

@Solaryellow: Genuinely stunned how you still don’t get it. I bet you’d even defend Bill Cosby if someone insulted him because he’s a comedian too and like you said, two totally different situations are always exactly the same because liberals! Moron.

2. refer to item 1

And why is Ivanka that? also, you need to read up on the policies mate, these are not new and have been there for years before Trump became president.

The only change is the way the policies are used.

Maybe that is why Stewart was highly respected by most on both sides.

Time for the c-ward to be less like the n-word.

Sorry, women, you're really not special enough to have your own word where people gasp and go "They can't say that! Can they?"

This sort of thing really only applies to black people and the n-word.

But, with that said, if a woman says the c-word, it's OK. If a man says it, oh snap, better hide. So good for Bee.

As you say both were/are acting in a supportive role to the president, and the only difference I can see is one is Obama and one is Trump.

It´s kinda sad that you let your hate towards a person cloud your judgment so much that all logic and reason goes out the window.

Comedians go for laughs but going for cheap laughs is what second-rate hacks do, who can´t either because of a lack of talent or intelligence, keep a distance and also keep the comedy on a level above the playground in a kindergarten.

Where was the Con's outrage when Ted Nugent called Hillary a "toxic c***"?

The right was so outraged that they invited Ted to dinner at the White House.

Selective rage is a country wide epidemic these days.

I save my rage for online gaming.

Stewart was the one who got the ball rolling for political comedians to blur the lines between BS and truth. Whenever Stewart got in hot water for something he would just say "hey I'm just a comedian, don't take it seriously" even though there were moments when he clearly wanted to be taken seriously. But at least he was never sorry for the things he did. At least you can give Stewart credit for that.

Little different with Bee. She had a seven minute segment on immigration that was probably supposed to be taken seriously, then she called Ivanka a feckless c-word without the least bit of irony, and worst of all, she apologized for it. She doesn't even have any confidence in what she does.

It seems both these comedians and their fans want to have their cake and eat it. People in this thread are claiming that comedians shouldn't have integrity. In my mind, that means they shouldn't be trusted. It obviously means something else to them, since this board will often have serious discussions about the opinions of these comedians.

THAT IS WHAT COMEDIANS DO!!!!!!!! they are like one tick above prostitution on the social moral high ground

this is literally a national debate over the moral equivalency of the court jester.

you guys are going to regret this tactic and its going to be hysterical.

comedians are not SJW

EDIT: if a comedian comes even within a sphere of appearing MAYBE being more noble then that of political figures then there is already a much larger problem then a comedians 'level'

Sorry to burst your bubble , but that is not what comedians do.

Comedians go for laughs but going for cheap laughs is what second-rate hacks do, who can´t either because of a lack of talent or intelligence, keep a distance and also keep the comedy on a level above the playground in a kindergarten.

what?

You Claim: They lowered themselves.

My Response: That is what they do

Your response: ?????????????????????????????????????????????? you just described what I said it appears

even ___ would not 'lower themselves'...yum yeah...they do!

and at your expense i might add

Again you seem to miss the boat.

As I pointed out actual comedians go for laughs, hacks go for cheap laughs and material that pretty much caters to a certain type of "person"

Hmm, i do not recall Stewart or Oliver ever lowering themselves to "retaliate" like that.

Stewart was the one who got the ball rolling for political comedians to blur the lines between BS and truth. ....

and that is where you are wrong.

reality is, he never wanted or felt like he deserves to be taken remotely as seriously as he was.

The problem is that the political sphere is soo bad, so horrid, that even a comedian basically not even trying, can appear to be better.

That is exactly what the political statement of Black Mirror - The Waldo Project is all about, its also what Stewart has said multiple times.

The political landscape should never be so bad that a comedian actually gains more respect, that is not the fault of the Court Jester.

as he said on Crossfire when attacked about his 'intergrity'

'you're on CNN. The show that leads into me is puppets making crank phone calls. What is wrong with you?'

no F9cks given about your subtext and its not related to what I said.

I already know I am a spineless worthless bottom feeding anti-moralist who loves comedy, but where other peoples integrity sits I dont know maybe they can explain. I mean sense we are walking away from my response from you and getting into somethign completely different now

Here is the thing, the state of the country should never have gotten to a point where an invitation for someone like Jon Stewart to be on friggin crossfire was taken even a little serious...wow

BS? think you have Stewart mistaken for Colbert or Noah.

The Daily show was a satirical view on actual news and the political climate in the US. Which is why it won 22 Emmys and also several journalistic awards.

Mainly what's pissing me off in this situation is the whole "f*ck it, we'll air it and if enough people complain we'll apologise, do a few softer episodes until the sh*t dies down, then go back to the same and have a few apologies in the back burner". Either your material is appropriate for your station and you just tell people not to watch if the content offends them or they decide it's not appropriate and they stop the show. Can't have it both ways.

@Solaryellow: I’m not going to argue if the joke was funny or wasn’t but I tend not to enjoy comedy that is super crass. The fact is it was a comedy skit by Bee. Period. The fact you are disputing this is astonishing.

She shouldn’t have apologized. If anything she should have doubled down and continued to point out how awful and fake a human being Ivanka Trump is.

I don't care what you like or dislike. The chick apologized for her "comedy." Why? She apologized for the same reason(s) Barr apologized. An innocent person stands their ground and defends their words rather than not. The crux of the matter is way over your head.

Name calling is not a crime hence I'm not sure why the hyperbole with your use of the word innocent. Nonetheless she's part of the same class trump is so it's not comparable to racist remarks etc. The reason for the "apology" was because people like you get offended on another's behalf. Newsflash........when you're in the public eye you're going to hear things about yourself you don't like. If that bothers you...........stay away.

What I find really lulzy is that conservative pundits had to take an out of context word from an obscure late night show no one really watches to try to create a manufactured controversy and false moral equivalency to deflect from Roseanne being a horrible racist.

While not alright, it's a far cry from calling a black woman a monkey and spreading anti-Semitic conspiracy theories.

Ask your mother if she would think being called a is any thing more than just "not alright." Unless you deal with woman who have very low self-esteem, they will tell you that is the WORST thing to be called. People like you will do anything to excuse their side. She messed up like Barr.

Ask a black woman if she thinks being called that word by a woman is anything like being compared to a monkey by a white person. People like you will do anything to ignore substantive differences. She made a mistake and she apologized for it, Barr knew full well what she was doing and she did it anyway because she wanted to dehumanize black people. That's a world of difference.

She should have just stuck to her guns but advertisers flee and I'm sure it's not worth the revenue to loss to her. What I find interesting is that people are using this as yet another false equivalency (and from the 'anti' PC crowd as well). Calling someone a c*nt isn't any different than using bitch, asshole, dick, mother f*cker.

Rosanne called someone a monkey and was saying that someone helped facilitate genocide. One is crass and vulgar, the other is racist and dangerous.

@HoolaHoopMan: Also worth noting is that Bee’s response was in anger of Ivanka Trump’s support for her father’s disgusting immigration policies.

I wonder where all these Ivanka white knights were when Hillary was getting called way worse things.

my position is different.

I agree that what Rossane said is worse, but I also dont think the difference is not wide enough to justify firing someone. So in short, I think both ladies should have been able to say what they said and let the public opinion chips fall where they may.

That said, ABC is a business, they can fire and hire as they please.

This all said, Bee's character (unlike Stewart and Colbert) is one of a crass foul mouth left wing version of Andrew Dice Clay. So nobody should be outraged by her effectively playing that very character.

But most importantly, a President of the United States should never be even eluding at playing moral equivalency with a comedian, let alone one that is a character that is specifically designed to be foul mouthed. She should have stayed away from both statements (Barrs and Bees) as if it was radioactive, a sitting President in my mind should demonstrate that he has more important thing to worry about.

Why ask a black woman when it was a white woman who was called a c#&t? Hell you didn't just move the goal posts with that one, you took them down. Barr would still be off television if she used only the C word in reference to Jarrett. Both women made a mistake but you are very eager and willing to accept contrition as long as it is from the side from which you identify. She knew full well what she was doing as well. As a matter of fact, TBS should be held accountable too.

You don't get to tell someone how to feel when they are called an offensive term based on societal norms. Contrary to your lefty ideology, there are MANY words as offensive as the N word.

The babe in the woods routine is not flattering. Every individual group has something extremely offensive whether it being a woman, homosexual, religious affiliation, etc..,. Perhaps you've been told there aren't worse words than those used to denigrate blacks but that simply isn't true.

Why ask your mom if she finds the c-word offensive? You can't even keep track of your logic, and you're accusing me of moving the goalposts? Better ask them for a double dose of medication today, gramps. Samantha Bee is responsible. She took responsibility, she apologized, and she moved on. And there is nothing as offensive as the past and continued dehumanization of black people through slurs, discriminatory laws, and comparisons to animals. There's a difference, and ABC recognized that there's a difference and acted accordingly. Funny you should suddenly become so incensed over the c-word now, I don't recall you going on tirades against Ted Nugent when he used it, or against Trump when he bragged about grabbing women's genitals. Oh, I almost forgot, you're a conservative, so you don't actually care about any of the groups or causes you pretend to support-women, free speech, fiscal responsibility. You just use them in order to attempt to browbeat people into accepting your nihilistic and destructive ideology. You're using women who might be offended by the c-word as pawns to advance your ideological agenda, THAT'S even more offensive than just straight-up calling them ****s.

@Solaryellow: Well you main the claim so I was hoping you’d back it up and list some examples. For example, c*** can’t be as bad as the N-word since you yourself are perfectly okay saying c*** in this very same thread but only refer to the N-word as... the N-word.

Not doing yourself any favours lol. Where was all this defending when Hillary Clinton got called stuff way worse than Ivanka?

not remotely true

when the history is of a black man calling a white man a 'cracker' after he walks away vs a white man calling a black man a N while he burns his church down and hangs him is completely different.
