Me and Dad had an argument about this whole incident. He said that none of this would've happened if counter-protesters just hadn't shown up to ruin this fucking Nazi rally. Claimed that they were gunning for a fight and shouldn't be surprised that these Nazis acted the way that they did.

So he straight up absolved these fucking Nazis and their actions, "It's the victim's fault, not their's."

I've always disagreed with my Dad, but the fact that he took literally the Nazi's side over an innocent women being murdered says all you need to know about some modern-day conservatives. Black Live Matters showed up at the demonstration on Saturday and things then became violent. That demonstration had nothing to do with blacks being killed by the police.

You people defending the righ wing crazies/nzis are seriously going to act like just a year or two ago a guy just like them; Dylan Roof didn't walk into a church and shoot 9 black people women and children. The protest did not turn violent until Black Lives Matter and Antifa showed up with clubs and started the violence which then escalated to the point where some one was killed and 19 people injured. Trump was correct when he called out all sides in the conflict. The media did not want that they just wanted certain groups called out and not the ones they support.

It makes me sad that this is now how Americans think about nazis and the kkk.

Depends on context. In general yeah, like when they forcefully removed the confederate statue in NC I thought that was wrong in the way they did it. But at the same time I agree with their sentiment and have burned a couple confederate flags in the past. Now if they went and started beating up people in trailer parks wearing confederate shirts then I would wish for their persecution to the highest extent of the law.

Not the military specifically, I've routinely seen posts by N64DD advocating violence against ISIS terrorists and even liberals. So I'd like to know why he is troubled by violence against white American terrorists but openly advocates for violence against Islamic terrorists across the world.

Are you aware that history often repeats itself and lessons need to be learned from it? The fascist threat in Europe during the 1930's was not deemed serious yet we know where that led. People who lived through those days will tell you that Charlottesville is eerily similar to the events in the past in Europe and in America from Reconstruction to Jim Crow. You don't need a PHD in History to see the connections.

If you're comfortable underestimating these people, go right ahead, just remember they are rearing their heads because of the current occupant of the White House. The current Attorney General for example is named after Jefferson Davis and is a prominent racist with a history of racist comments. The OK City bombing was an attack on the federal government as a response to Waco and Ruby Ridge by a far-right white terrorist and his accomplice. I am well aware of that. There are groups of far-right terrorists today whose goal is the destruction and subversion of the federal government. The Bundy farms armed protest a few years back is an easy example of this.

I think we can all agree that cop killings and the baseball Republican shootings are sad events that should be condemned by all. Those were events separate from Charlottesville so I'm not sure why that's relevant in the reference to Trump saying "both sides".

But that brings up the question of: are they more isolated events than acts of right-wing terrorism? I'm more inclined to believe they are isolated events as there is no left-wing protest gathering calling for the death of cops and GOP senators. Meanwhile the gathering at Charlottesville showed the beliefs of those individuals is more prominent among that particular group.

These groups are not repeating history unless they are out there stringing up people and flogging them on a minute by minute basis. Common sense keeps them in check but your "history often repeats itself" is not any reason or rationale for silencing their opinions and rightful expression of RIGHTS. I am not defending anyone killing someone. I am saying once violence starts you don't know how far it is going to go. The three groups involved were extremists with violent intentions. To ignore that fact gives rise to more violence by the same groups.

Bottom line is that if you condemn Neo Nazi terrorists but don't condemn Antifa terrorists in order to score political points then you are a hypocrite and part of the problem. Tribalism at it's best.
