[QUOTE="kbaily"][QUOTE="Dgalmun"]Why did they have to make a shadow game? It sucks and there's barely any gore into it, so are we gonna have a game with creams with missles to people?
SciFiCat
Are you just trying to be an idiot? Sonic games will never have gore in them. Go play Gears of War if you need to fill your blood and violence lust.
"DOOD! Sonic gamz wud be so freakin hardcorz if they had blood sex n gore!1! Sex and gore make all gamz bttr that why all M rated games r so frickin awesome. Mario would be so much cooler if he'd curse and shoot people with guns and there was blood and gore and explosions like Micheal Bay movies cuz they so osim cuz he blowz stuf up!!111!!"
Another reason I hate modern gamer culture. You have this "hardcore" jock boy, d-bag group that has a blood lust that makes them feel cool. Guess what? Playing games with violence and gore does not make you more macho. Nor does it impress anyone. You're in your house. You're playing with a toy. Get over yourself.
Now if you were purposely doing this to make a joke than fine but I've seen your other posts so I doubt it.
I really hope Dgalmun's comment was being ironic, for his sake I really hope so. But he does reminded me of the I time I first saw the cover art of the Shadow game, OMG, when I saw that thing I thought that it was an out of season April's Fool joke. "Seriously Sega?" I thought, "it has to come to this?" Nevermind the fact that the game was a failure, even had it been good, that was a line Sonic Team should have never crossed. Heck, I was pissed when Naughty Dog gave Jak and Daxter guns in part 2, but on a Sonic related title was completely uncalled for. I'm glad that tilte tanked, can you even begin to imagine what would have happened to the whole Sonic franchise if that had become a successful trend? it is as if the worst of Fanfic writing had become, all of the sudden, canon. *shudders* Sometimes I look at Sega's brilliant past of creative and innovative titles it made during the Dreamcast era (Rez, Seaman, Space Channel 5, Shenmue, Chu Chu Rocket, Jet Grind Radio, Skies of Arcadia, etc) and compare it to what is putting out lately (Stormrise, Golden Axe, Nancy Drew!?!?) and I can't help but feel disheartened. But it is not all lost, Valkyria Chronicles and Yakuza show that there are still talented people working at Sega, it just is not as common to see their efforts as in the past.I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Shadow the Hedgehog sold pretty well. Why? Because it got away with an E rating meaning every obnoxious 12 year old bought it because they were excited about buying a game with guns because they were too young to play Halo or Gears or a real shooter. That was Sega pandering to the lowest common denomonator and dumbass fans will still show up here and gush about how awesome the game was and how critics were just biased and how "it's Shadow! Not Sonic. He can use a gun." To which I reply :When in Sonic Adventure 2 did Shadow use guns? And that was the beginning of Sega realizing "Hey Sonic's young fans are morons. We don't have to make a good game. Just make it flashy enough and they'll buy any piece of crap!"
I know a way to screw it up: The name's Project Needlemouse, right? Simple, make Sonic transform into a tiny little mouse at night and make him solve puzzles and fight spiders. =P

Well the name "Needlemouse" came about because when Sonic was first drawn out on a napkin, the designer called him "Mr. Needlemouse." When Yuji Naka wanted to have the character run fast, the name was changed to Sonic.
But I like your suggestion. lol

[QUOTE="macrules_640"]So does anyone else think that Sega might pull a Mega Man 9?
kbaily
That or a New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
Well that game hasn't come out yet, but yeah that's probobly what I'm expecting from this....
Geeeeeee, I am not too sure how to respond this. But I could give out some examples like:
Warehog Stages: In Sonic Unleashed, perhaps it's the only way to make the game feel longer, like whoa dude! On my first play though, it lasted 10x longer than daytime stages. Plus add that lame battle music.
Too Fast in Production: Isn't it obvious? Every year we see Sonic in an all new adventure. He could use a break.
Not Sticking to it's ORIGINALITY: Sonic should be the way it is. And well he should stay that way since in the first game
Â
Meh, stupid I know, but that's exactly what I wanted to say.
Games that have that ha ve struggled in 3D like Mega Man and Street Fighter went back to 2D and ended up being good games. Why not Sonic too.chocolate1325
exactly, that what we all are hopefully lookin forwardÂ

Everyone can when it comes to Sonic :)At least Capcom will listen to the fans once in a while unlike Sega.
macrules_640
I thought Sega listening to fans is what brought Sonic down in the first place.

Darkmoone1

Many say Sega listens to the WRONG fans as in the nutjobs who worship Shadow and love to say the critics are biased all the time and live in that parallel universe where Paris Hilton is a physics teacher. Who constantly defend that all the 3D games are great and we're all brainwashed by Nintendo to think that Mario is better when he doesn't have deep stories and his games don't force you to play as every character. I've said it before that those fans should drink some lead paint and retard themselves out of existence.
It seems like when a Sonic game does decent, Sega fails to realize WHY it was well received. Such as Secret Rings which some fans liked because after years we finally had a 3D console game where you played as just Sonic but Sega took it as "hey they liked the storybook theme! Let's use that again!" Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 on the Dreamcast were well received which gave Sega the notion that "everyone loves having playable characters!" Heck some think that after some decent reviews for Unleashed that it must mean people like the werehog.
And ever since Sonic X brought about the "nooby tweener" set who gush over all the new crap, Sega's tried and failed to appeal to both sides in one game leading to the mess of games we've had recently. "Unleashed sux cuz Shadow wasnt in it!" Sonic 06 was teh best gm evr!!" criticz R biazed!"
And Sega should just stop listening to all fans and actually pay attention to what reviewers are saying. Unleashed did get a lot of stuff right. A more lighthearted story, music more reminscent of old school games, no playable friends (or trying to force them into the story. Really what would Shadow and Knuckles have contributed to Unelashed's story?) and some 3D/2.5D stages that were exactly what Sonic in 3D should've been. Even if the werehog hadn't dominated the gameplay as it did, it might have been a better game. All Sega has to make is Unleashed sans Werehog and that's the Sonic game everyone (at least the masses) wants. And if those nutjob fans were REAL fans, it wouldn't matter if one or 20 characters were playable.
At least Sega doesn't ALWAYS give into fan demands. Hence why there hasn't been Shadow the Hedgehog 2 yet (and hopefully never).
But I'll quote Yahtzee in terms of giving fans what they want: "Fans are clingy.complaining dipsh--s who are never ever greatful no matter how many concessions you make and the minute you shut out their shrill, tremulous cries, the better off you are."

Well if that is real, than this is Sonic the Hedgehog 4 done in the spirit of Megaman 9 and given the graphics, I think it will be on the Wii then just run in HD on the other consoles.
And if Sega screws up THAT game, I'll be horribly depressed.
But we'll see if that's the real thing.
That's not Project Needle mouse, that's Sonic Megamix a fan hack of Sonic The Hedgehog and its a pretty good hack as well.
Â
No because I think it would have to be in HD and it looks like the graphics from Sonic 1.chocolate1325
Once again I remind everyone that Megaman 9 supports HD and has NES graphics. I played Banjo Kazooie on Xbox Live and while it still looks like an N64 game, it was redone in HD which just makes the colors sharper as is the case with all retro games on XBLA.
Project Needlemouse might be like Sonic 1 but can I just say that New Super Mario Bros Wii looks much graphically superior to its DS counterpart thats what I expect Sonic 4 or whatever they call it when its shown off just a better looking Sonic 3.chocolate1325
read the description of the video, I'm not sure if it's 100% true, but they explains somethings there

I know its not true I am just saying what it should look like superior graphics and in HD.The fact that Sonic Team is making it is enough of a F up but I'll try to be as serious as I can.
1. Stupid game requirements
We're all familiar with the special stages, and love it or hate it, the special stages are something that we've grown to appreciate and half expect at times. A separate mini challenge from the main game, in the beginning it determined whether you truely defeated Dr. R. If you got them all, you got the best ending sequence, if you didn't you got a default normal ending with the dear docter snickering at you at the end holding the emeralds you missed.
This is all fine and dandy cause all it means is you needed to try a bit harder next time. The way that Sonic Team could f this up, and indeed how they've already f'd this up is by making the requirements to get into the special stages or the special stages themselves a completely convoluted, buggy, anger inducing mess. My examples for this specifically are the Sonic Advance series(more specifically Sonic Advance 2) and Sonic Heroes. Ask any sane Sonic fan and you'll know what I mean.
"Sorry, you don't get to see the actual ending of the game cause you didn't find 7 special ring locations strewn about in either of the 2 acts per area with the special rings set far and wide away from each other in hard to reach, or even know they exist, areas that if you miss any of them on your first go you might as well restart the level over again. Oh did we mention that there is also a 10min time limit that you have to go around the acts before you die and if you die from the timer, a pit or an enemy, you lose all your special rings and have to do the level over again? And that's just to get IN to the special stage! You still have to do the special stage challenge! If you fail that you have to start all over again!!"
THAT'S THE MOST FAN-F*@#ING-TASTIC GAME DESIGN IDEA I'VE EVER HEARD SINCE THAT FIRST HOVERBIKE LEVEL FROM BATTLETOADS!
..............Sonic himself wouldn't have the patience for something like that. He has very little to begin with anyway.
2. Clipping/Game Engine/Bug issues
It's always fun to run at super sonic speeds only to clip straight through the floor and fall into an abyss isn't it? Performing a move that somehow forces you through a wall into an abyss and you die. Or how about when the game takes most of the control away from you in a section of the game where you should be able to move your characters relatively freely and seemingly keeps you in an area against your will or tosses you into a pit no matter how much you struggle with the controls to avoid said pit (Casino/Bingo Highway from Sonic Heroes)
3. Using control methods for actions don't fit with them and could be easily done with a less complicated control method
Flicking the Wii Mote up to make Sonic jump and down to curl into a ball anyone? Oh I can see it now. Flick the Wii Mote up to make sonic avoid a missle, but all he does is look up and get a missle to the chest and rings fly everywhere! Glorious isn't i? This isn't specific to any game, I just can see them actually trying to force this on the player at some point. They technically already have with Sonic and the Secret Rings when you had to use the Wii Mote to make Sonic go left and right when there was a perfectly good D-Pad right there on the remote that's alot more responsive/appropriate for moving left and right.
4. Add another unnecessary/necessary character, but make him/her annoying!
Marine the Raccoon.....nuff said.
Â
Even if Sonic Team doesn't redo any of these mistakes, they always seem to find a new way to screw up their new Sonic games that nobody saw coming. They're at least imaginative in that respect.
I swear that I will flip small children over if I see any of the following in this new 2-D Sonic game:
Ready? Here's my list:
Â
1) Shadow- If this S.O.B. is ANYWHERE near this game, little Andrea is going to be thrown from the rooftops by her pigtails because this f-in Hedgehog is plagued ENOUGH Sonic games with his appearances. He is an atrocity to video games and his personality makes me want to reach through my television is wring his skinny neck. Yes, folks, Shadow infuriates me to the n-th degree.
2) Silver, Rogue, Gamma (radiation), Big the Cat, Jet the Hawk, etc (minus Amy- as long as she's in the game in the same way she was in Unleashed, I'll be okay with that): See above.
3) Tails BETTER NOT be regulated to the engineering role he's been accustomed to recently. Make the dude a PLAYABLE character. Same goes for Knuckles- quit making him a "meathead" and let him be playable like Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
4) Princess Elise. I actually liked Sonic '06 (once I got passed all the damn load screens and obnoxious amounts of glitches) but beastality is not for me.
5) Eggman. I want Dr. ROBOTNIK back.
That pretty much sums up my list.
Â
Now, it shouldn't be too hard to make a 2-D Sonic game with beautiful environments, layouts, and overall graphics. Look at Muramasa. That game is simple AND beautiful AND buckets of fun.
Â
It may be misplaced, but I have faith that SEGA can produce a Sonic game that has his comrades (I actually might allow Blaze to be playable because she's not too bad, but Knuckles and Tails (with Tails following behind Sonic like in the past) is an absolute neccessity), a story (WITH NO DIALOGUE) and is a "Point A to Point B" with variable-pathed platformer with plenty of speed and... GASP, platforming!
With all this said, becuase I love Sonic so much, even if the game sucks (i.e. Secret Rings and Black Knight) I will be first in line to pick this game up on it's release date.
Â
P.S. No small children or animals were harmed during the typing of this response.
Assuming you're talking to me, thank you.
I heart the blue Hedgehog so much as he has been a part of my video game playing experience since the very beginning and I hate to see him faulter in the eyes of the public. I hold on to the hope that this upcoming game will be great. Sonic Unleashed was a great game and very underappreciated. Some level designs were off, but it was a solid addition to the Sonic franchise and I, personally, loved the Werehog levels. It was just a blast to play (moreso on the 360 than Wii, in my opinion.)Â
If SEGA has their heads out of the sand, they will blow all of us away with an absolute gem. Just go with the KISS theory- Keep It Simple Stupid.
