My take on the upcoming Sonic games:
Sonic Unleashed: I have very little else to look forward to this Christmas. Banjo is fugly and driving cars, Nintendo was no help aside from a new Animal Crossing and I could care less about whatever distopic futuristic HD shooter sequel is coming out (pick one) so Unleashed is my anticipated game though I still worry that Sega will set us up for disappointment like they did with "Sonic Next Gen" Still, it shows alot of promise, even the slower werewolf gameplay looks promising. I'd really like to play it on my Wii but if I have to, I have a 360 as well. In the demo video they mentioned that they might have some sort of online componenet but watch Sega make the boneheaded move AGAIN and leave online play out of the Wii version AGAIN (see Mario and Sonic at the Olympics, Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity and Sega Superstar Tennis).
Sonic Chronicles: Ok, look, this is a JRPG meaning, it's not going to be a high speed platformer. Still no one is going to talk down about the creators of masterpieces such as Mass Effect and Knights of the Old Republic and as far as turn based RPGs go, this will hopefully do for Sonic, what Super Mario RPG did for Mario. You play as friends, but in this format it works. They even brought back the Chao raising. The only downfall, they brought back Big "oh-no-not-again-you-fat-retard-from-Sonic-Adventure" the Cat. Still there isn't much for my DS to do these days and this is much welcome.
Sonic and the Black Knight While I don't know enough about this to really pass judgement (can't find an issue of Nintendo Power anywhere around here). It's nice to see Sega showing a little special love to the Wii, but the sword thing seems weird but hopefully we won't be forced into playing as friends and instead it takes the path of the handhelds and let gamers choose between various characters without forcing them to play as someone they don't like. Also no more guns, emerald hunting, ring boxes or mechs.
