Im going with Hakeem Nicks, he is Mannings favorite target and almost never fails to to grab a TD. Hopefully this works out :?

Hey guys, I'm new to this fantasy football thing and I need some advice.
1) Are Braylon Edwards, Jacoby Ford and Sidney Rice worth keeping. I have Hakeem Nicks and DeSean Jackson as starters.
2) I'm not sure what to do about my QB situation. I have Jay Cutler and Matt Ryan but I dunno how they will perform in their next games. Should I gamble on picking up Cam Newton while he's available?
3) Finally, what are your thoughts of Tampa Bays defense? I'm thinking of picking up San Diego's defense because I think they might have a good matchup against Kansas.
Thanks

Well, it never too late to start. This is my second season playing Fantasy Football and it is really addicting, especially if you keep winning. 8)
1) I would hold on to Edwards atleast for now, he is a good reciever and should get better once he gets used to the system. I have no idea why you even picked up Jacoby Ford but he is a bum imo. Sydney Rice would be the top target in Seattle but he is injured and no one knows when he will be back and the downside is that he has Jackson as his QB. His value should go up if and when they bench Jackson for Whitehurst who is the better QB. Good adds for now would be Devery Henderson, Jordy Nelson, or Nate Burleson if they are available in your league.
2) I think Matt Ryan should be a good start against Tampa Bay. Stafford lit them up in Week 1 and even McNabb had a solid game against their defense. Jay Cutler is goin against the Packers and their pass rush combined with Chicago's terrible O Line spells trouble. You can pick up Newton if you have the space.Newton was wearing a boot on his right ankle Monday but he is expected to practice.
3) Tampa Bays defense has let opponents score points on them alot. If you dont have an elite DST just Add/Drop weekly according to match ups that particular week, Yea, San Diego defense should do really good against the regressing Chiefs, especially with Jamaal Charles (torn ACL) out for the season. Pick it up, it would be an elite option for Week 3.

Thanks for the advice :) I'm enjoying the fantasy football. It makes it a more interesting way to follow the sport because I'm starting to root for teams I wouldn't usually.
I'm in London so I missed the draft for our league so I never picked any of my players lol. I did get some decent players though. Unfortunately those WR you mentioned are unavailable. I'll see who is on waivers to fill any space.
I think I'll start Ryan then. Hopefully the Falcons offense can get it going for me.
I'll also pick up the San Diego defense while they're available.
Thanks again mate

Hey, no problem I love talking about football and giving and listening to opinions. Thats why I made this topic thread.
I obviously dont know everything, no body does. I just look at the facts from several wbsites to make my decisions and analysis of players and their situations. You have to make the final judgement and dont follow everyones advice blindly, go with your gut. :D
Thats pretty cool you being from England playing Fantasy Football, thats a first I have seen. Good Luck in your league.

Yeah I think this will be a good place to get some tips and learn how to get better at this thing. Some guys in my league are scoring well over 100 points. I need to get better at determining who has the better matchups.
I've been following the NFL for a couple of years now. It also helps that every year now some teams come over here. My uncle in Chicago asked if I wanted to take part in his league when we went to visit him. So I thought might as well give it a go. :D
Good luck in your league too

Yes. Pick up Jordy Nelson while you still can. He's hot right now. Sure, he only had one catch Sunday but it was so big it got me my win in a league. His upside is that he tends to get touchdowns. :D
Gonna sit DeAngelo Williams this week for Sproles because Williams isn't really doing much with Cam Newton lighting up the scoreboard. I may cut Williams all together if this continues this week but for right now, I don't really trust him.The-ApostleCam Newton is taking away goal line carries too...

I am still baffled why they would give him such a big contract and then just have him do nothing while Newton goes on a passing blitzkrieg.
I don trust him either, but i did hold on to Daniel Thomas and Ben Tate in my bench so i should be good.

I am so glad that I started Maclin over Nicks in one of my teams, game me a monster 29 points.
I started Nicks hoping he would give me atleast 8 points to win in my other league but he gave me 7 and now I am 1-0-1. I hate ties, there should have been a tie-breaker.
Over all this week i went 7-1-1. Pretty good week but had a better week 1.

And I thought 3 was hard... Oh, well, at least I'm on top in one of them... Thanks to McCoy, that is... I have Nelson in it but I'm so deep I don't really need him. He's starting in my other league, though.
Should I play Jermichael Finley or Dustin Keller? Finley has less yards and no TDs while Keller has 2 TDs and a lot more points. Do you guys think that trend might continue? I also ask the same about Gronkowski and Finley.The-Apostle
Yea, thats a good question. Keller has been producing good numbers as he is Sanchez favorite target. Finley is due for a breakout performance game soon and it might be this week against the Bears.
Oh man no question I would go with Gronkowski especially with Aaron Hernandez possibly out this week he is gonna have a monster game against the Bills this week.
I'm picking up Davery Henderson for Plaxico Burress. Should I play Henderson over Reggie Wayne? Keep in mind, I'm playing Sproles and my opponent has Brees. However, he also has the Steelers defense (playing the Colts) but Wayne's QB sucks. Therefore, touchdowns from any of those three (including receiving TDs from Sproles) have the power to devastate my opponent.
EDIT: Also, Jordy Nelson is my W/R

I would go Henderson over Reggie Wayne I think, simply because Dreww Brees is passing him the ball and Moore is a non factor and Colston is out. Dont trust Collins against the Steelers.
This is going to be my hardest week yet. Gonna have to pull a lot of strings trying to beat the highest scoring person in my league, and remain undefeated.
As of now...
Starters
Josh Freeman vs. Atl
Mojo @ Car
Peyton Hillis vs. Mia
Reggie Bush @ Cle
Desean Jackson *Q* vs. NYG
Wes Welker @ Buf
Rob Gronkowski @ Buf
Lions D/ST @ Min
Sebastian Janikowski vs. NYJ
Bench
Mercedes Lewis *Q* @ Car
Bears D/ST vs. GB
Julio Jones @ TB
Blaine Gabbert @ Car
Josh Scobee @ Car
Denarius Moore vs. NYJ
Ryan Fitzpatrick (someone picked up Cam before I could, but hopefully that won't cost me) vs. NE
I color-coordinated who I'm thinking of swapping out/in.
I'm very disappointed with Reggie as I've drafted him for two leagues and thought he'd have a bigger impact for Miami :(
Desean is questionable and if Vick is out then I feel he would be more questionable and Julio Jones could have a good game perhaps

Who would you start this week, Ben Tate vs. Saints or James Starks vs. Bears?
Jacen22
....Anyone?
It's likely the Texans will have to air it out in the second half, so, since Stark is pretty much the starter in GB and they'll be in it for sure against the Bears (possibly wanting to kill clock in the second half), I'd play Starks.
Matt Schaub against Saints or Cam Newton against Jags?
I'm leaning Cam. Schaub has not been the fantasy qb he used to be so far.
Until Cam shows otherwise you ride him unless you have a better matchup. That is unless you have Andre Johnson and want to double up (I do this with Vick and Maclin/DeSean)Matt Schaub against Saints or Cam Newton against Jags?

Who cares if they lose? As long as they're producing yards and TDs (in other words, POINTS!) then it doesn't matter if they win or lose. Unless you're involved in Pick 'Em, then it does.I'm thinking about playing Kolb since Romo has a punctured lung and I doubt he'll play. What do you guys think?The-Apostle
Yea, i would do the same. Romo is gonna be pretty much weaponless with the exception of Jason Witten. Miles Austin is gonna be out for a couple weeks and Dez Bryant even if he plays is less than a 100%. On top of all that Romo is banged up andd gonna be wearing a vest, dont risk him being pulled from the game and giving you nothing. Also Felix Jones is banged up with shoulder issues, its gonna be a bad week for the Cowboys, I would be really surprised if they pulled out a win. Going with Kolb is your best option.

Speaking of DST I just found a golden nugget in the free agency.....Eagles DST thats going against the catatonic Giants passing with Manningham and Nixon out and no decent tight end to speak of. Nicks is gonna have Nnamdi and a safety blanketing him all game. I was gonna start the Titans DST this week until I found this.8)
Nnamdi doesn't guard the best WR. Nnamdi guards the right side, Asante guards the left. Either way, Nicks is basically out this game because Eli hates throwing to Asante's side.No_Hablo_Ingles
The guy in my league dropped the Eagles DST ans picked up 49ers!!
Asante is still a Pro-Bowl CB and a safety is regardless gonna help blacket him since he is the only weapon there.
Side note: Remember when I posted all frustrated that I tied in one of my leagues well it turns out that Hakeem Nicks made a catch that was ruled out/Def. Pass. Int. but was ruled in after the game and got credit for that catch on Wednesday which gave me 2 points and I won 137-135!! :D
How is this starting line up?
QB Matt Ryan
RB Jahvid Best
RB Frank Gore
WR Hakeem Nicks
WR DeSean Jackson
TE Owen Daniels
W/R Brandon Jacobs
DEF San Diego
I saw your comment about Nicks' matchup against the Eagles. I picked up Nate Burleson, do you think I should swap him in?
My bench is:
QB J Cutler
RB A Foster
RB J Stewart
WR N Burleson
WR B Edwards
WR S Rice
TE T Scheffler

From looking at what you have, I think that you have the best line-up. I did sit Hakeem Nicks and put in Nate Burleson in one of my leagues because Burleson has been consistent last 2 weeks and is bound to get a TD pass eventually and this could be his week.
Right now Megatron is probable to play, as long as he does it helps Burleson take advantage of single coverage. Some people wouldn't sit Nicks but I am taking the risk this week. :?
Fred Jackson, RUN DMC, and McCoy. Which two should start? I could start all three, with one being my flex, but I currently have Wes Welker as my flex.No_Hablo_Ingles
All three are great options, but McFadden has only had an 100+ rushing against a top 10 rushing defense once in the last 10 times he has played them. And Jets have been really good at stopping the run by bottling up Felix Jones and Maurice Jones-Drew consecutively.
McFadden is pretty much the only offense Raiders have so its a risky start. But as the old saying goes you always start your studs. The Buffalo Bills will be more than likely playing cath-up offense against a dominating Patriots offense so there is a chance Fred Jackson wont see alot of carries if thats the case.
McCoy is a must start anyway you look at it. I personally would go with McCoy, Jackson and McFadden over Welker. Points wise I think Jackson and Welker are gonna be in the same zone so either or.
Hope this helps.:D
