Well finally somebody mentions him, though comparing him to modern QBs just does not work.
I like to think of Baugh as the father, and any QB list is actually a list of who his best sons are.

True and I agree 100%. He still needs to get mentioned if we are talking about greatest Qb's ever.
Plus he played Qb for the Redskins so i had to put him in my top 10. :P
The NFL network is great for football history, especially in the off season.
It's true. This team would be nothing without Peyton.peyton manning he does everything on his own with out him the team is nothing

if philip rivers can win a superbowl he'll be in my top 5 because he is really underrated...TrapMuzik92Top five? Not yet, even with a SB win.
Of the modern era I'd put Montana over anyone including Marino and Elway. Elway may have won two rings at the end of his career but before that he was prone to lose a game as win it for the Broncos.
Before the advent of the Super Bowl I would say Johnny Unitas.
It's difficult to gauge just how well Brady, Manning, Brees and their generation compares to Montana and Unitas. These two QBs played in a league where rules didn't favor the offense so heavily. The teams they played against weren't as waterdowned due to expansion teams. Peyton really didn't start having playoff success until they changed the rules about DBs not being allowed to touch a receiver after the first 5-yards.
he also throws game losing INT for TD unlike any other HOF QB....any team would be nothing with out the QB...Saints would be nothing without Drees...Chargers would be nothing with out Rivers..Gaints would not have SB without Eli so whats ur point??...I must be so had for peyton manning with great coaching dallas and wayne...Mathis, Freeney, bethea, and brakett and with one of the best o-lines in the leaguepeyton manning he does everything on his own with out him the team is nothing

[QUOTE="Blitz_Nemesis"]Now that Brees has a ring can we stop overlooking him now? I mean he isnt even ranked in people top tens.BobblesQue? He's still not a top 10 QB of all time....
True. Now if he continues to put up the numbers, puts the Saints in the playoffs while he QBs them and even get back to the SB before he retires then he could be top ten.
1. Dan Marino
2. Peyton Manning
3. Brett Farve
4. Steve Young
5. Tom Brady
BTW Joe Montana is overrated as hell. Never threw for more than 4000 yards once, and only threw more than 30 tds once. Alot of Quarterbacks would have won on those 80s 49er teams. I don't understand why people think of him as the great quaterback. Like saying emmitt smith is better than barry sanders, because he has more rings. Makes zero sense.
Yeah, you say Emmitt's better because he has more yards.1. Dan Marino

The Catch 2 game winning drives in a superbowl beat Dan Marino and John Elway in the other 2 11 Touchdowns ZERO INTERCEPTIONS Yeah, if he's overrated than I'm an olympic gold medalist.1. Dan Marino

Emmitt Smith is better than Barry Sanders. For everyone 50 yard run. He had 4 or 5 carries for a loss. Talk about a drive killer. Exciting to watch, but overrated. There is a reason why the Lions made the playoffs the year after he retired.1. Dan Marino

I don't even bother trying to compare QBs. A QBs success is predicated on how well his team plays around him and on the right play calling. It's tough to project how a QB would play without good players around him. As a Patriots fan, I wouldn't trade Brady for anyone.

Overrated my ass.The thing that cracks me up about his list is this, Manning is the only one of those guys to win a title and pass for 4000 yards in the same season. So attacking Montana for not throwing for 4000 yards makes zero sense. More so since only 3 QB's have passed for 4000 yards and won a title the same year. Kurt Warner, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees from my count. So much for that theory.Emmitt Smith is better than Barry Sanders. For everyone 50 yard run. He had 4 or 5 carries for a loss. But Barry played behind a horrible line while Emmit on the other hand.....Barry overrated? More like Emmitt, dang i'm sick of hearing about that guy, he played forever and racked up yards whoopee, he never had the sick skillz like other backs. X360PS3AMD05Huh? Emmitt had some mad skills.
[QUOTE="csimonma"] But Barry played behind a horrible line while Emmit on the other hand.....BobblesWrong. I'm sick of this perception that Barry Sanders had no OL because it isn't true. Was it as good as Emmitt's? Probably not, but it was far from horrible. Lomas Brown was made the Pro-Bowl 6 times, Kevin Glover made it 3 times, Jeff Hartings a 2 time pro-bowler, and Bill Fralic a 4 time pro-bowler. He ran behind Brown and Glover for a good portion of his career. Not sure how his line was so horrible.
I say they are both great but clearly Emmit has the advantage because he continued to play even past his prime and the fact that he was a part of that great Cowboys Dynasty with other talented hall of famers whereas Barry was the Lions in some seasons. Barry, out of respect for Walter Payton and the fact that he was sick of losing with the Lions, retired with only 9 seasons.
But it's really hard to compare the two's overall running style. Emmit was more of a north to south runner whereas Barry was more elusive (which is one of the reasons why he has so many negative yards).
Barry Sanders was an amazing running back, anyone that doesn't see that is out of their mind. Emmit is also amazing, but the difference in supporting cast is worthy of mention. That and he played longer.
In their prime, I would say certain running backs were more dangerous. Like I would argue that Marshall Faulk an Ladanian Tomlinson had some incredibly game changing skills in their prime.
The difference is that Emmit lasted longer, he was more consistant, and above all else. Numbers don't lie, big game performances don't lie, and his spot in the hall of fame is no lie.
I can't really give a solid opinion on people post late 90's since I was either not alive at the time or too young to remember... but of most recent age heres my list of greatest QB's (recent).
1. Peyton Manning
2. Brett Favre
3. Tom Brady
4. Drew Brees
5. Kurt Warner
6. Phillip Rivers
7. Donovan McNabb
8. Carson Palmer
9. Steve McNair
10. Jay Cutler
Once again, this list is recent. Can't vote on people ive never watched play a full game.

I'm as serious as a heart attack.
Once again, ill repeat that this is a recent list and not an "All-Time" list, but rather an "All-Time" in recent years*. And to be honest with you, Cutler is an extremely talented QB, and is in a sticky situation with not having any real dominent WR's and a decent running game to support him. All will change when Brandon Marshall ends up with his former teammate again.
like yannakos i'm not gonna comment on people I never watched, but i'd say.. 1 Tom Brady 2 Drew Brees 3 Phillip Rivers 4 Big Ben 5 Payton Manning From the first time I saw Aaron Rogers come in for farve during some game he got injured or whatever, I knew he'd be great, and he's on the way to that list too. Hell maybe he should be there now. FastrThanyou
Big Ben over Peyton Manning? ARE ******* KIDDING ME?
