I favor EA for most sports except for basketball, 2K has been cleaning house there. They both make solid games (for the most part) but I think EA makes better football, baseball, hockey, and boxing games. They make a great golf game but that can't be compared to 2K since they don't have one. But yeah, they both make good game and I'm sure most people would agree that 2K makes some sports games better and EA makes others better.

Each has its own bread and butter games. Like most people know 2k is tops in Basketball, while EA makes stellar Hockey and Boxing games. It just depends on which sport you like playing the most and do a little research into who has the best track record for each game.

Well, NBA 2K9 had way too mnay flaws like a limited franchise, bad sims and annoying pauses and cutscenes and NFL 2K5's franchise was the worst ever....Only one team and go forbid you go over the cap. So 2K for gameplay put EA is way better in depth.

The only thing that EA doesn't kick the crap out of 2K about is basketball and even that margin is shrinking

Football, baseball, hockey, etc are all much better when made by EA

2K easily. It's hard to judge now, because EA has bought out so many leagues. I prefer NFL 2K5 over every Madden yet and I still play NHL 2K5. EA's arrogance has resulted in my refusal to buy another game from them, ever.

Just so you know, EA only bought the NFL license and College football/basketball license. 2K bought the 3rd party baseball license so they are just as guilty.

The reason I disagree is because the only reason 2K bought baseball is because EA would've bought too. They had to save themselves somehow. EA also bought NASCAR. So EA has 4 and 2K 1. That's not equal. If EA still tried to improve their games, I would have less of a problem. For the 2005 NFL games, 2K starts getting better reviews and sells their games for $20, EA released a statement a few days later that "once again EA has shown that they are the clear leader in NFL and sports gaming" then a few weeks after that they bought the NFL rights. Why do you need exclusive rights if you are the clear leader?

I haven't bought anything besides hockey games in a long time, so I don't think I'm qualified to compare the other sports lol. 2K used to be the best simulation by far, but EA has truly taken hockey games to a new level after the lockout.

I'm really bitter about 2K's horrendous baseball game on the 360, it's ridiculous that the PS3 has The Show and we have the MLB 2K series' annual 6.0-rated piece of junk.

Football isn't much better. The football games EA makes today still are missing a lot of things and are far from becoming a sim. Just watching players run in the game is enough to prove it. Weight means nothing in the game as players can change direction without even slowing down the slightest bit.

EA Sports in all sports except for basketball. 2K series for basketball is now superior. Even with 2K football, i still favored Madden series.

Did you ever play MVP 05? That game was amazing! And the latest MLB games from 2K have been pretty sad... I own 2K9 but that's mainly because I need my baseball fix and don't own a PS3 so I can't get the Show.

NFL 2k5 was not that good. I would get sacked all the time because my linemen wouldn't block. When there is an aspect of gameplay that is that broken, it is not a good game.

Has anyone noticed how 2K has nosedived recently? I mean, they owned hockey until EA invented the Shot Stick in NHL 07, and they've gotton so bad in baseball it stopped being funny. And I got to play Madden 10 a few days ago, and it looks like Madden is finally starting to approach NFL 2K5(which is sad because it took them five years to do so).

I own NBA 2K9 as well, It wasn't a great franchise mode but a tad better setup than Madden. Madden 10 setup was clunky and a pain to navigate. I miss a lot of the features they left out.

I miss hearing fan feedback through radio and seeing local and nationtional newspapers in Madden. It's little things like that that set Madden's Franchise mode apart before this generation.

Thats why Madden 10 is a letdown for me, Its sucks they took that out when it made the other games so much more deep and fun. I miss Tony Bruno. I hope they bring it back for 11.

Yeah, the whole 2K series was awful

It wasn't a sports game, it was a game designed for people who play games and hate sports.

I think that pretty much explains that when the NFL had to choose between EA and 2K when it came to the NFL they could either pick the game for sports fans or the game for people who don't like sports.

It was more important for the NFL to pick the game that was trying to reproduce what was happening on Sunday.

Good thing too or we'd be stuck with NFL games like All Pro Football 2008

Joke post? 2K did a far better job putting games out that reproduced what happened on Sunday as Maddens games to this are terrible on that. NFL 2K5 had such better gameplay and commentary it wasn't even funny. If it wasn't for the bad franchise mode NFL 2K5 would be the best football game ever made to this day and in some areas it STILL owns Madden!

EA for almost everything except b-ball. i would have said 2k for football becuase of how great 2k5 was. but after playing madden 10. and the below par APF 2k8. there is no way i can give it to 2K.

No, not at all

The game was awful and nothing like NFL football

Running was awful, passing was awful, the blocking was especially awful

The worst thing is that it never got better. Iteration after iteration they kept on taking it farther and farther from the sport it said it represented.

Again, the entire argument ends with All Pro Football 2008. With years to make the game and no restrictions whatsoever that should have been the greatest football game ever. It's not, at all, anywhere.

The game is made for game players who don't like sports, that's who it was designed for and that's not the audience who follows the NFL

The NFL chose correctly that day. If 2K put out a better product they would have picked them but the NFL saw that 2K's game wasn't even close to showcasing what the NFL was all about.

Anybody who thinks 2K's running was awful never played Madden 10....WORST RUNNING GAME EVER! Even on the easiest level the cpu is psychic, they know what you do before you do it and stuff you almost every play. I could pass 20 times in a row and then run..BAM 5 yard loss. And when you get hit its almost over, nobody blocks and you get swarmed by bubblebutts 10 yards away from you. 2K5 > Madden 10 on running....Passing 2K5 was average and so is Madden. 2K5 had the best graphics, running game and commentary and the post and half time shows were the best and made 2K5 a better rep of the NFL than Madden has ever or will ever be. I wasted 60 bucks on Madden 10.....Makes me sick and I will NEVER buy another football game until 2K makes another real one. The NFL died a bit the day they sold out to EA, which is why they went there..MONEY not quality because if that was it EA would be crying right now and I'd have a GOOD football game. And All Pro shouldn't and isn't in this argument, its a straw man. NFL you sold out.

[QUOTE="ChrisSpartan117"][QUOTE="MoonMarvel"]I own NBA 2K9 as well, It wasn't a great franchise mode but a tad better setup than Madden. Madden 10 setup was clunky and a pain to navigate. I miss a lot of the features they left out.MoonMarvel

Meh, I'll still get Madden 10, not because it's the only NFL franchise around, but because I played the full game early and loved it, and I recently noticed I don't care for Franchise Mode anyways--and that goes for any sports franchise, like NBA 2K, not just Madden.
