I favor EA for most sports except for basketball, 2K has been cleaning house there. They both make solid games (for the most part) but I think EA makes better football, baseball, hockey, and boxing games. They make a great golf game but that can't be compared to 2K since they don't have one. But yeah, they both make good game and I'm sure most people would agree that 2K makes some sports games better and EA makes others better.

The only thing that EA doesn't kick the crap out of 2K about is basketball and even that margin is shrinking
Football, baseball, hockey, etc are all much better when made by EA

Totally agree.
2K easily. It's hard to judge now, because EA has bought out so many leagues. I prefer NFL 2K5 over every Madden yet and I still play NHL 2K5. EA's arrogance has resulted in my refusal to buy another game from them, ever.blackngold29
Just so you know, EA only bought the NFL license and College football/basketball license. 2K bought the 3rd party baseball license so they are just as guilty.

The reason I disagree is because the only reason 2K bought baseball is because EA would've bought too. They had to save themselves somehow. EA also bought NASCAR. So EA has 4 and 2K 1. That's not equal. If EA still tried to improve their games, I would have less of a problem. For the 2005 NFL games, 2K starts getting better reviews and sells their games for $20, EA released a statement a few days later that "once again EA has shown that they are the clear leader in NFL and sports gaming" then a few weeks after that they bought the NFL rights. Why do you need exclusive rights if you are the clear leader?I'm really bitter about 2K's horrendous baseball game on the 360, it's ridiculous that the PS3 has The Show and we have the MLB 2K series' annual 6.0-rated piece of junk.
Football isn't much better. The football games EA makes today still are missing a lot of things and are far from becoming a sim. Just watching players run in the game is enough to prove it. Weight means nothing in the game as players can change direction without even slowing down the slightest bit.The only thing that EA doesn't kick the crap out of 2K about is basketball and even that margin is shrinking

ea wins

Did you ever play MVP 05? That game was amazing! And the latest MLB games from 2K have been pretty sad... I own 2K9 but that's mainly because I need my baseball fix and don't own a PS3 so I can't get the Show.
NFL 2k5 was not that good. I would get sacked all the time because my linemen wouldn't block. When there is an aspect of gameplay that is that broken, it is not a good game.monkeytoes61What? I played that game to death and NEVER got sacked....................
Has anyone noticed how 2K has nosedived recently? I mean, they owned hockey until EA invented the Shot Stick in NHL 07, and they've gotton so bad in baseball it stopped being funny. And I got to play Madden 10 a few days ago, and it looks like Madden is finally starting to approach NFL 2K5(which is sad because it took them five years to do so).
Actually Madden took a nosedive this year, NBA 2K9 had a soooo much better franchise mode. 2K in basketball is still the best there is!Has anyone noticed how 2K has nosedived recently? I absolutely love that aspect of Madden back in the day.

Yeah, the whole 2K series was awful
It wasn't a sports game, it was a game designed for people who play games and hate sports.
I think that pretty much explains that when the NFL had to choose between EA and 2K when it came to the NFL they could either pick the game for sports fans or the game for people who don't like sports.
It was more important for the NFL to pick the game that was trying to reproduce what was happening on Sunday.
Good thing too or we'd be stuck with NFL games like All Pro Football 2008

You think Madden represents football? It's not even close to where it should be, I don't think you understand that. What? Joke post? 2K did a far better job putting games out that reproduced what happened on Sunday as Maddens games to this are terrible on that. NFL 2K5 had such better gameplay and commentary it wasn't even funny. If it wasn't for the bad franchise mode NFL 2K5 would be the best football game ever made to this day and in some areas it STILL owns Madden![QUOTE="Jaysonguy"][QUOTE="monkeytoes61"]NFL 2k5 was not that good. The game was awful and nothing like NFL football
Running was awful, passing was awful, the blocking was especially awful
The worst thing is that it never got better. Iteration after iteration they kept on taking it farther and farther from the sport it said it represented.
Again, the entire argument ends with All Pro Football 2008. With years to make the game and no restrictions whatsoever that should have been the greatest football game ever. It's not, at all, anywhere.
The game is made for game players who don't like sports, that's who it was designed for and that's not the audience who follows the NFL
The NFL chose correctly that day. If 2K put out a better product they would have picked them but the NFL saw that 2K's game wasn't even close to showcasing what the NFL was all about.
