We all know this union is all about Square Enix games. However we all know that that's not the only games we play. So we will have this only thread at SEE where we can discuss any kind of game - post away what are your thoughts on the new non-Square Enix game you just bought, what games you are currently playing, criticize them and etc... you get the idea! Feel free to do it on this topic.

That being said, are you currently playing a non-SE game? What game? How's it?

Well...to answer the question I just finished playing Hotel Dusk for the DS...other than that the games I have been playing lately are SEE games...

same with me.. Hotel Dusk was pretty awesome.  Though I am also playing Gunpey DS and Meteos Disney Magic.. which are both pretty good.  I actually really recommend Gunpey..

It takes place in the real world during real historical events for one thing. The characters are very interesting ranging from stereotypically silent brooding heroes to wacky and eccentric ones. It has some unexpected twists and turns and lots of content, which granted may not be to varied, but holds your interest quite well. The battle system is different from other RPGs in that every attack, both physical and magical is controlled by your reaction time in response to an indicator spinning around a "Judgement" ring. It's tough for me to really explain the system, but trust me it is cool. The ring also controls other things such as discounts at shops and the sales price for the old items in your inventory you want to get rid of.

I'm going back and playing Guitar Hero 2, mostly to perfect some of the songs. Surprisingly, Freebird isn't one of them.

Odinunlimited: I also like this series! I've played the third (from the new world) and the story is really cool! IpodHero176: I'm still having to beat hard mode, lol. All I can get so far is easy and medium; part that I still need much training! XD

Haha!! That's cool; I played that nonstop when we first got it but I tired of it quickly (I'm far too good at it - LOL) Now I only play when my boyfriend wants me to show off to his friends :)
Currently I am re-playing Xenosaga, but I've left it alone for awhile in favour of Romancing Saga (SOOOO Addictive!) That's why you gotta love SE games!!

Hahaha it seems quite some of us play GH. It is indeed a wonderful game. I love playing Freebird and Sweet Child of Mine! But my favorite is Cherry Pie, that song just energizes me.

i only played the first two, but it's the most emotional story you'll ever play, and a great love story if you like those. I also cried in the second game and I don't think I've done that very often (maybe one or two other times?)

No, unfortunately I haven't! And honestly, right now I think I'll have to start doing some SE reviews since they will be useful for our community. I'm planning on making one for Chocobo Tales as soon as I finish it!

Yeah, I made a review for GH2. That's a good idea with the Chocobo Tales review idea.

I've been playing Xenosaga.  Not the best battle system I've ever seen, but fun.  I've pretty much been sucked in by the story line.

Yeah, it has a great storyline but in my opinion, still doesn't compare to the original Xenogears....

I have always wanted to try the original Xenogears, but a friend of mine scared me off by telling me it was incredibly hard. I've never been too sure if I should trust his judgement. I mean he thought obtaining Caladbolg and Lulu's Onion Knight was too tough (He let me borrow his memory card and I did it for him on his save file). Nevertheless, I remain wary of the title even though I have never found any game I've played too hard.

Yeah, I play PC games too! I didn't hav the courage to play Phantasy Star Online on the PS2, so I got it for PC. I have Oblivion too, but I don't play this game that much... I also like games like Starcraft and Dawn of War! And of course, I also play Neverwinter Nights (my favorite rpg series for pc) and Baldur's Gate. Now I need to get Jade Empire, since I didn't have a Xbox back then...

Yeah, pretty much.  But also because I spend a lot of time on my computer.. so if I'm going to do something fun and relaxing I'd rather go sit on my couch.. and I also enjoy the feel of a controller in my hand..

Yea, I really like Neverwinter nights too. I only have the first one though. I really like the Unreal Tournament series too. I wanna get FEAR and Prey sometime in the future. And the next Half-Life episode when it comes out.

I tried playing Half Life since every pc gamer was hyping it so badly... I liked the environment and the storyline, but I'm just no good with action like games. I mean, I'm even struggling with Dreamfall 2!

I've been more of a PC gamer in the recent years but now I've swapped over to console, not only just to get a taste but my rig's out of date. I desperatly wanna play Oblivion, I was waiting for it over 2 years and still haven't played it. I'm really having a choice of what to get it on, PC 360 or PS3, only one choice probably though, and I'll have to stick with that one.

If I was to label myself on what kind of a gamer I have been lately, I'd say handheld gamer. It is just better for me to be able to play whenever and wherever I am... the only thing so far is that there isn't many rpgs and with good storylines for handhelds...

Ok I just finished Onimusha Dawn of Dreams the other day, and I have to say overall an excellent game. The two main features I enjoy most in the game are the storyline and the characters. There is quite a lot of interactivity with each of the main characters throughout the whole game, even between stages. I'm actually playing through again since there's things to pick up from that were missed the first time. Took me 30 hours to finish, and it's 2 DVDs.

Hey, can anyone recommend some really good non-Square RPG games? When it comes to RPGs I tend to stick with SE but I wanna start playing some different things. I was thinking of getting Rogue Galaxy.

I suggest Rogue Galaxy! I've played for quite some time, and I think it is great, though you may have to get used to the battle system. Other than that, it is a pretty good game. I'm also looking forward to Atlus' Odin  Sphere! But this one isn't released yet.

These are some non-SE RPG's I can personally recommend from my own gaming library Grandia 2, Suikoden 3, Legaia 2, any game from the Shadow Hearts series (although the creators of the series are made up of a group that splintered off of Squaresoft, so I don't know if that's OK) and if you have an extreme amount of time and patience or don't feel the need to complete every minuscule aspect of a game Star Ocean:Till the end of time.

Cool, thanks, I'll check 'em out. I've heard that Star Ocean games were pretty lengthy, so maybe I won't try that one just yet. :P

I would like to buy a Castlevania on DS, Dawn of Sorrow or Portrait of Ruin, but I never played any Castlevania, you know, I don't want to buy a game that I'll never play, so, umm, is it good ? I know, Gamespot gave great score but I would like to hear what players have to say.

P.S.: What does sorrow mean ? :D

I played Portrait of Ruin (I hadn't played a castlevania since SNES) and it was really fun. I would recommend it.

Also I think sorrow means being sad or something like that

There are a ton of games out for the DS that I would like to get.Castlevania is good; I haven't played any recently but I have played one on the PS2 awhile ago.I am in the middle of replaying Xenosaga too...it is a great game. The battle system is odd, but not too hard to get used to. On DS, I am in the middle of Lunar: Dragon Song. It is a bit boring but not too shabby for an older game.

Sorrow means feeling deep sadness.

I've always wanted to get into Castlevania too but never have just 'cause I've never played one!

I have Dawn of Sorrow for the DS and although I have two other installments of the Castlevania series, I am by no means a true fan. However, I would recommend this game to anyone, any day. It's a great game with cool combat, a huge castle to explore, souls to collect with which you can perform special attacks, bosses to beat and items to hoard. Then there's also multiplayer, though no Wi-Fi. Great game.

I recently received Diamond as a gift from a friend and I'm soooooo addicted!!!  I highly recommend it! (and no I'm not a huge pokemon fan, this is actually the first one I've owned myself, otherwise I've just played the first one when a friend owned it so long ago.
