The Final Fantasy Tactics I'm referring to is called Grimore No Fuketsu. (sp?) It's about a boy named Luso who gets transported into the REAL Ivalice, and decides instead of going home, he likes it in the new world. :) It's comming out for the Nintendo DS. It's the last game in the Ivalice Project I beleive. Andraxal

oh i see, i heard a bit about that one. i'm really psyched considering i have a ds light and am a huge fan of strat/rpgs.

Hahahaha. It's all gravy~ The hat is pretty cool though, not many Final Fantasy characters have a hat like that! :( Don't knock the originality, after all, that is what we've sought from this company for soooooo long.

I kinda thought it was more of a crotch barricade. To protect him from "foul play" when attacking old men who rule other worlds. Hahahahaha.

Hmmm....How did crotch gaurds, come out of my spin off topics? Hahahaha! Weird! Any way:

Yeah, you're right Jayvon! I think Ramza was one of the ONLY SANE, and NORMAL freaking male leads for a while. I get sick of whiney bed heads who are lover boys (Squall), or amnesic blonde twits who become too obsessed (Cloud), skimpy dressing sports jockeys who can't put on a single pair of cloths without looking like he just popped out of his wardrobe (Tidus), or people who wear crotch protectors..... Hahahahah! That won't die out any time soon!!!

i think that, despite the fact that he has a monkey tail, zidane from final fantasy 9 was a pretty decent character. actually, more than decent, he was funny and a lady's man. i think i'd say the same for vaan from final fantasy 12, he was naive/determined kid who wanted to grow up to pursue his dreams. i find these two to be pretty normal, but i guess it depends upon the person

Yeah, Zidane was a pretty normal GUY, most guys are like him, only well, worst. Hahahahaha. Vaan seems a little to naive, and somewhat childish, he's normal but by no means a man. Hahahaha.

I liked Vaan too. He was the perfect depiction of a boy who wants to act like a man, but is definitely not one by any means. However, I think after the events of FFXII he turns into one. He even looks to be more like a real Sky Pirate. I think in Revenant Wings we will (hopefully) see a more mature Vaan. Especially if it picks up where FFXII left off. I don't think people give Vaan enough credit.

I liked Zidane too.

Vaan wasn't even part of the story that i thought he would be. He was more like a yes man to me. Baltheir or Ashe wasmore like the leader of that game.. and Vaan was just a kid that I played that was behind the scenes. I Disliked Zidane so much that I won' t even discussed it. I liked Mr Leonheart but he was socially inept and had problems with his a team a little bit. And Cloud Strife was sooooo messed up in his head that he came into Ramza world of Ivalice sheesh. Ramza kept a cool head throughout his whole journey and fought through the tough times and was the only sane person I played with as the lead character

Oh my quick witted friend, Jayvon, dearest, discuss away! :) What was wrong with Zidane he was pretty darn normal. Zidane may have acted childish at times, but he shaped up to be a REAL man. I know doesn't it feel that way some times? (Reference to sane character leads.) Why aren't these main characters getting their prescriptions, I mean jebus! Hahahahaha! See I have a sense of humor too. :)

Oh, I manage to snag a few here and there. :) I really thought that the Judges' were underappreciated by SquareEnix. They were definitely cool, however they gave them some minimal lines... It felt like they didn't put effort into it to make them more outstanding, maybe it's because of the directors switching, maybe not. You think it would've changed anything major?

I loooooove the Judges!! I think they are some of the coolest characters ever. Upholders of the Law. How cool is that? Besides, all their armour is sweet and they truly look like people who would kick your behind if you ever did break the law.

True. They were people to be seriously feared if you broke the law. They were very good law upholders too. However did you notice how they each controlled a different branch of the government? If you read the character bios from the Bestiary from FFXII you'd know that Gabranth lead a CIA form of government in Archades. I really thought they didn't get enough credit, no other Final Fantasy game has a quite fear empowering crew like that. I mean when the opening FMV is playing and they start to show the Judges walking, the first time I saw that I was dumbstruck.

Yes! I know exactly what you mean! I do loove that part in XII. Even that little bit of music (I believe it's taken from "The Strike of a Blade") sounds empowering and strikes fear into anyone.

That's what the Judges had going for them, they were feared. That may not be the best way to lead and enforce law, but it worked, and that's what mattered.

When I first played XII I didn't do a whole lot of reading in the bestiary, but as I kept playing I read more. The only judge's I read was Judge Gabranth.

Yeah, exactly! I think they should make more stuff around the Judges. So what? A little fear of god into the hearts of peasants could do some good. It'll keep them from breaking the law, and make the cities more orderly. :) I for one would appreciate it, no more people like Vaan prowling the pockets of Imperials.

Yea but the imperials weren't exactly the smartest type of guards. In XII, it was really all about the judges, the venats (sp?), cid, and vayne.

He reminded me of Laguna (the way he looked). They both have the exact same hairstyles.

I liked Vayne, as far as villains go, definitely not the greatest. But he was a different kind of villain, especially if you compared him to people like Sephiroth or Kefka. Especially since the story was so political.

Hmmm. It never occurred to me before, but now that you mention it he kind of does. I find Vayne a lot less irritating than the bumbling, incompetent Laguna though. ;)

Back on topic, out of the options listed I think that the most appropriate one is the fantasy setting, but I'd prefer the political story. However, my favourite settings are dark, post-apocalyptic ones, though I concede that they are not appropriate for FF games.

Doesn't take someone smart to rule over others. Hahahaah.

to Cecil: Yeah, I loved him! This games story was built like a greek tragedy and drama. I felt that the main character was Vayne, and that the other main characters were personifications of his alter egos, each one representing another side of Vayne. Vayne wasn't really evil, he was in fact a hero. He tried to solidify his family by wiping out the Senate. He knew full well what devious ways they had, and he tried to take back the reigns of man because he feared the oppression of the Occuria.

To S_Jake: Hey I know exactly what you mean. I'd love to play a light hearted Final Fantasy and within the first 5 hours have the world flipped and play in a post appocolyptic place. It could be very dark themed, and based around a more evil theme. The only thing wrong with it is that game developers when they do this often make the bad guy too evil, or too stereotypical.

I also would like to see SE game that has a mixture of all this in a game that they made although i can name a few Radiata Stories and FF Tactics are among some of them. But i can t wait to see another game with all these bc these are some some of the core developments in a Video Game Story

I thought that it was fairly good. I mean, it wasn't great, but it did have quite a bit going for it: Nice story, good character interactions, very good voice acting and a wonderful visual style that brought the world and characters to life. There were a load oif characters to find (~160-170 if my memory serves me correctly) and they all had daily routines, rather than just sitting in the one place the whole time.

The game did, however, have a number of serious deficiencies, most notably that the combat system was "button mashy" and repetitious and that the character development wasn't up to very much. Overall though, there's quite a lot to like and if you approach it with no expectations (as I did), then you may find it reasonably enjoyable. Just don't expect the game to be great (or you will be disappointed).

I thought it was fun.. Reasonably complex gameplay in spots and some reasonably innovative ideas. No, it's not stellar but it's absolutely not terrible! The one thing that annoyed me was how frequently my main character tended to die.. sending me to my last save point which was inevitably a long time ago.. :(

It's rare to find a game like that. The only games that I know are good that blend a light hearted adventure, a little bit of side questing, and building your own town is Dark Cloud 2. Dark Cloud series is very good, and has quite the longevity. :) I miss games like these, they seem to be disapearing slowly. :(

Agreed. I liked it though.

This is waaaaaaay off-topic but Yuna - I really like your new sig there (with Yuna's wedding dress). Did Aeris make some new ones or did you make it?

Regardless, it's really cool.
