[QUOTE="leperphiliac"]Homebrew PSP is the way to go, you get N64, GBA, GB, SNES emulators there is a DS emulator but it only plays a couple of games. Homebrew PSP-->DSleperphiliac

Can't talk about homebrew and even if we could, Nope, the PSP still will lose.

How would the psp still lose? The PSP had so many more features than the DS it isnt funny, and all of the DS games can be played on a emulator, whilst there is no emulator for psp games.

I'd say even with an emulator which we aren't allowed to mention You'd still be playing the DS's awesome. Not that it's Your fault i never heard the emulator argument with PS2/gamecube. It would make gamecube a significantly better console.

I played the DS so called awesomeness and there were some games I enjoyed New Super Mario, GTA CTW, the castlevania series, Advanced Wars and metroid, after that there's nothing that interest me.

while PSP gave me God of War CoO, Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops, Little Big Planet, GTA Chinatown Wars, Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles, Final Fantasy Tactics, Syphon Filter: Logan´s Shadow, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, Killzone: Liberation, Resistance Retrobution, Daxter, Lumines, Socom, Megaman Powered up, Twisted Metal, LocoRoco, Valkyrie Profile, The Warriors, Tekken, GTA Liberty City Stories, GTA Vice City Stories, Monster Hunter, Tomb Raider, Burnout

At the end of the day handheld's have always been about 2 things. Games and battery life. The majority of people who buy them dont care about fancy graphics or watching movies on a 5 inch screen. I dont like the PSP or DS, but its pretty obvious from a games stand point the DS wins. PSP has good games just not nearly as many as the DS.

I don't care about quantity it's not like I am going to buy every single game but the PSP has the games which are mostly for gamers while the majority of DS games are not oriented at gamers.

like I said go to your nearest game store 90% of games is oriented at little girls, boys, nintendo is after a different group.

although it throws you a bone once in a while with devil summoner, pokemon then it goes back to fashion designer and imagine ponies.

it's just facts don't act or try to pretend shovelware is not a problem on ds.

Guys can we drop it, this guy's worse than that Ghost guy we had some time ago, that Apple fanboy, it's best we stop replying to him altogether, or else he'll keep giving his obstinately ignorant posts, refusing to listen to anything we say altogether, and only making our blood rile every time he posts.

you keep repeating this idiotic mantra without explaining yourself what do you mean that DS games "are not oriented at gamers". Every gaming site says it has better rated games and they sell better too what are you talking about?

Seriously you nor anyone I know defending the PSP has even made one dent as to why the PSP is better. The one and only legit reason is just what 2004 touted: graphics.

Graphics don't suck, I don't have to play my games with a crayon, I don't have to answer to chicks as to why I have a pokeball in my pocket, pokemon sucks, I can't count the amount of pixels on one hand, and no metal gear. Why can't people just admit that with graphics like God of War with lots of blood that psp is made for adults while DS, where the bulk of the games is about petting dogs and playing dress up, is made for toddlers.

I'm looking at the PS classics on my PSP, and I don't see Chrono Trigger on there. The DS has a port though, is that what you were thinking about? Anyway, the DS library is much stronger regardless of the shovelware. I'm looking forward to the Okami sequel much more than any PSP game, and I shouldn't even have to explain that to Sony fanboys. You missed out if you didn't get Okami for your PS2.

When will you fanboys get it through your heads that a game does not need blood spraying all over the screen to appeal to adult audiences? Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Advance Wars; Days of Ruin, Final Fantasy IV, Dragon Quest IV, V, VI and IX, the DS Castlevania games, and the Ace Attorney games are all games that touch on "mature" themes and most them have minimal(if any) blood.

And the idea of a "Mature" system is the dumbest argument I have ever heard in my life. Is Mortal Kombat a more mature game then a Ace Attorney game just because countless bones and gallons of blood spray all over the screen? There is a point where blood stops being mature and just seems silly.

The DS has "M" rated games, try doing some research before you make claims about it being only a "kiddie" system. But even so, what's wrong with a system that targets younger gamers? Ins't the point of a system to reach the largest audience possible?

As for Metal Gear, congrats on having that on the PSP. The DS has Dragon Quest, so I call it even.

It's not about blood spray it's the image seen what do you see on DS ? hundreds and hundreds of games like this

Virtual Villagers A New Home, Sonny with a Chance. Jam with the band, Petz Family, Easy Learning Discover our World, Peppa Pig, Left Brain Right Brain 2, Let's Draw, Foto Frenzy, Diva Girls Diva Ballerina and so on.

with thousands of games like this coming for ds every month what audience do you think nintendo is after ?

The PSP does not have garbage like that... and has games that are adult oriented like God of War, Medal of Honor, Resistance, Call of Duty, Medal of Honor.

that's it target audience gamers in general.

sure the ds has alot of games with gamers in mind like mario and zelda but as I have proven the majority is games for kids and toddlers and if you say that is false you are a fanboy because it's true go to your local gamestore nintendo is after what makes money even if it means selling their soul which leaves a stain on the ds library.

This is what you mostly see in gamestore tons and tons of this which is why DS is mostly kiddie for toddlers and PSP is mostly for gamers whether you like it or not that's the image most people see.

my friends when they pass gamestop the only reason they go to the ds isle is to laugh at the games, we were having a field day looking at imagine babiez

fightninja162

You are correct there is much more shovelware games on the DS than the PSP. Only because the DS is more successful of the two and the cheapest to make games for. The most successful systems always has the most shovelware and it never hurts when it's cheaper to make games for. Look at the PS1, PS2 and PC has great examples. Saying though the number is a minimum of the PSP would be incorrect though. Like most system most of it's library is also shovelware. So far in this topic you have named at least two games which you didn't know there where shovelware version on the PSP. The reason is because more than likely you only look at the games you like on the system and there is nothing wrong with that. The same goes for a fan of any game system. No one is forcing anyone to buy shovelware, but saying any system does not shovelware is not looking at the library of their system. Overall when it comes to quality games though based on scores, and not yours vs my opinion there is little question that the DS has more titles.

Better systems often = more shovelware. Devs simply try to cash in on the success. It doesn't necessarily mean there are no good games for the system.

First off, I'm not a fanboy, I support all systems equally as long as they receive quality games. And you're wrong, the PSP does get garbage like those games you listed, but in far smaller numbers. Guess what, I don't care if those games don't exist as long as the quality titles keep coming. Nintendo is after a general audience, which includes both gamers and casuals.

If the DS was not a fruitful system for gamers, then why does Square Enix, Sega, Capcom, Konami, Tecmo, Namco Bandai, and other third party developers support it? Square Enix has given the DS Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, Mana, and a new IP. Konami has given the DS three Castlevania games and some other IPs. Sega has given the DS three Sonic games, a Shining Force game, Phantasy Star, and again, some new IPs. And that's not even counting the othe quality games on the DS.

Let me explain a simple concept to you, all systems get crappy games especially the popular ones. I'll bet you that the crap games easily outnumber the good ones on the PS1, PS2, NES, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, GBA, and Wii. Your argument would be revelant if the DS was like the Wii with very few quality releases, but even that can't work since the DS sees more quality games on a regular basis.

Using your logic, I can call the PS2 a crappy system because it has Friends: The One with All the Trivia, Barbie Horse Adventures: Wild Horse Adventures, and other crappy games on it. Oh my god!!! SONY Sold their soul to appeal to casuals!! A Friends and Barbie Game is on the PS2!!!!!!!!!!!! SONY no longer cares for the core gamer!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, do you even relalize how stupid that argument is? Do people call the SNES a horrible system because it had Captain Novolin and Rap Jam on it?

I go shopping at Gamestop for DS, and I've had no trouble finding quality titles. Is there crap? Hell ya, but the same could be said when I shop for PS2 games. Maybe your friends should spend less time laughing at the casual DS titles and pay attention. You maybe suprised by some of the quality titles.

And I love how you are calling out Nintendo for wanting to make money. I guess I forgot that companies aren't supposed to make money with their products. Trust me, if the quality titles stopped coming, I would be upset with Nintendo. Sega was the only console manufacture that I'm a fanboy of, so don't confuse for a blind Nintendo fanboy.

I don't give a damn if someone is playing Cooking Mama or raising puppies on their DS as long as I keep getting titles like Final Fantasy IV, Dragon Quest V, Sonic Rush, Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword, or Castlevania on my DS.

I appulad Nintendo for reaching an untapped market with the DS. As long as the quality titles keep coming, I'll be a happy customer. I've been gaming since the Sega Genesis, and the DS is one of the best systems I have ever owned.

It's not opinion. IT IS FACT, Dodgy subject aside.

Seriously you nor anyone I know defending the PSP has even made one dent as to why the PSP is better. The one and only legit reason is just what 2004 touted: graphics.

caryslan2

Graphics don't suck, I don't have to play my games with a crayon, I don't have to answer to chicks as to why I have a pokeball in my pocket, pokemon sucks, I can't count the amount of pixels on one hand, and no metal gear. Why can't people just admit that with graphics like God of War with lots of blood that psp is made for adults while DS, where the bulk of the games is about petting dogs and playing dress up, is made for toddlers.

Actually, I've had a DSlite since launch, I won't get my psp until the BBbundle arrives(which I've already paid for), and the DS is probably my most played system.:)

Well I have been into portable games for almost 30 years. I have almost quite a few of them. My thoughts:

GB: The best handheld every made! Great games, gameplay and hours of fun. I wore mine out playing Tetris lol!

GBA SP: It was ok, but the screen could have been bigger and better to see. I had to use that magnifying attachment to play it.

DSL: It's a dandy little machine, but using the stylus for the games was a pain in the ass. More than a gimmick really. Adding that 3D stuff to it is going to make it more gimmicky. I think it's going to hurt the console, they should just leave it as it is. It's not like it's not making money lol!! What happens when people lose interest in it??

The DS has it's good games and bad games. And boy, does it have it's share of bad ones! I had it for 2 years. The last year owning it was a big let down. I got fed up and sold it last year. The games just didn't hold my interest. Too bad.

Atari Lynx - I had about over 30 games for it. Another great handheld, but it went obsolete real quick.

PSP: I have had one since October 2005. It totally blows my mind to this day. Just like having a portable console in your hands. There is nothing quite like it!! Has the gameply and great graphics. The best one to come out since the GB. Since it doesn't have a big amount of games, it doesn't suffer from having many bad games compared to the DS. People complaining about the battery time, I have a Stamina Battery that gives me over 9 hours of gameplay. More than enough for my gaming needs.

I am not going to get into the sales arguement. The DS already selling before the PSP was on the market. There are many kids out there that want one. Sony has dropped the ball on this one. Sony need to improve the PSN, drop the UMD format and get more devopers to embrace it before it's too late.

I have been hearing the PS2 rumors already. I hope some of it comes true, this might be the year Sony really shines. This should make an interesting year for the handhelds. :)

There is another reason I love my PSP. DJ MAX!! :D

The simple fact that, every PSP game would have played better if it existed for another system, whereas most of the great ds games can not be made for any other system because of the touch screen and dual screens and the innovation they bring, is enough of a proof for me to consider Ds as a superior console.

Seriously, my sister has a psp (she is 16 ) and I have a Ds (I'm 23) and I played both. All I can say about psp is, it's a portable wannabe ps2 in my hand. For Ds, it's a Ds in my hand.

DS is a kids handheld, imo waaaay to many games that cater only to kids.

p2250
If its a kid's handheld, then there wouldn't be M-rated games. Don't buy the children games.
