except business's don't think like they that, they aim to make the most profit as possible, so if they are dropping the price it's because something's up, maybe they predict that the increase in sales will more then make up for the drop in price, or maybe they are preparing for something sony's up to (probably the FF 13 demo bundle thingy)

Hm, I'll just say what I said in the other thread:

If the news is true, it's a great model. Right now with the 20 gigabyte 360 being sold off for $299, the Arcade just looks silly at $279. I assume Microsoft will (or already has?) discontinue the 20 gigabyte hard drive as well, leaving it up to ebayers and refurbishers to decide what it's worth.

It does make sense for Microsoft to do this just as Sony moves toward a "one-system only" plan... the $399 entry price will hurt them when a $199 360 is just around the corner. If I were Sony, I'd make sure to continue manufacturing the current 80 gb sku as a "pro" bundle... the software emulation does not cost them much to include, but people will be willing to spend $100 more for BC and Metal Gear Solid 4. They can then readjust the 80 gb core to $299 and the 80 gb backwards-compatible to $399.

I do. I didn't have to buy an extra HDD because I had an old one from my old 360.

My friend does, but he just slapped on the 20gb HDD from his old rrod'ed pro. Its exactly the same other than lacking a hard drive.

Not when its been 3 year's and they have only dropped the system $100. The 360 is going into it's 4th year so a $199 price tag isn't that drastic.

huh... first of all i'm 21 so i i think i'd be considered an adult

secondly i was the only one who said that therefore it would kid without an "S" but wait i´m an adult so it's actually adult

anyway yes i think it is a sign of desperation, most price drops are, price drops are usually your last card left before loosing market sales, the problem is sometimes it's a two edged sword, as most of the times it only gives a temporary boost in sales, just look at Europe, it dropped 100 euros in price for all SKUs (that's 150 dollars) and it only had a sales boost for two or three weeks before it dropped to its regular 50-70K

I do. I own both a PS3 and 360, but I only go online with my PS3, because I don't want to pay for online. I wanted to play the single player games I'd miss out on, and the Arcade was therefore the perfect choice for me. If you decide to go the arcade + used hard drive + gold account route, just remember that you'll have to buy a headset to complete the experience. The Arcade also does not come with an HDMI or component cable.
