This is what I dont understand.
Why people are hating on a prototype.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
why? normal controllers are fien enough, why does it matter if "new motion tech" does suck (heck wii one sucked way more ost of the time!) guess i´m just a common controller guy...[QUOTE="Giancar"]

It seems this one does the most, though. Really a shame.

If it has to be done, I want to see it be done right.
No, you want to see it fail, just like all things related to PS3.
[QUOTE="Haziqonfire"]What :? ? To me what Sony showed was basically the Wiimote and Wii MotionPlus but built in one device. Whereas Natal to me seems completely useless because I don't see how it'll work for more complex games without a physical device to move a character and such.BioShockOwnz
Sony basically stole MS's and Ninty's motion devices and glued them together, and now it looks rushed and poor.
Wait how did sony steal MS's device. Didnt they have an eyetoy last gen and one at the VERY BEGINING OF this gen?[QUOTE="Haziqonfire"]What :? ? Isn't it the other way around since Sony made the Eyetoy and PlayStation Eye first? :|

I could ask the same thing about the many people hating on Natal. rips off eyetoy.^Nice history lesson, Animal-Mother :PFloppy_JimIm like shocked. He said Sony stole it. Biased am Confirmed. I mean that reminded me of when Kanye said president bush hates black people
speaking of the eyetoy
I got a mini one with kinetic for $15 at blockbuster
in the hardware bin, an older model.. for like $30.. wtf blockbuster? least they weren't charging as much as GS though
it makes for a good pc webcam though, beats my cheapy one that lacks a mic
anyways I don't understand the hate for sony's device yet the extreme hype for MS' device which fails to support traditional games

Sony had already had cameras for their platform, since last generation. The camera is basically another sensor bar, in my opinion.
Either way, personally, I think Sony probably has the best device yet - better than the Wiimote - because it is basically the Wiimote and Motion+ in one device, rather than a seperate one.
In any case, I like having a physical device. With Natal, there is no physical device - besides simple/accessible games (burnout, skate) and some party games(that dodge ball demo) - I can't see it being used for things like say, modern warfare 2 - because of the lack of a physical device.

did someone hack Bioshocks account or something?
Nice grasping for straws. Show me some proof. So Sony copied off of PC tech with Eyetoy, which MS was involved in first? Good to know!
BioShockOwnz
Yeah. PS wand is an evolution of the Wiimote+their Eye toy. Natal is an evolution of the PS Eye.Does anyone remember this little number?
It's the PS2 eyetoy if anything MS copied Sony

"It was maybe a little underwhelming when Sony followed Microsoft's controller-free demo with a fairly standard kind of motion recognition, but the thing is... well, the device shown was... I'm still kind of dumbstruck by...
Oh hell! It was a damn blinking wand! The thing looked like it was looted out of a discounted, knockoff "Harry The Wizard" Halloween costume from a dollar store. Someone must have left the actual controller at home and called their mom to pick something up on her way back from pilates." - 1UP

Didn't seem like they were very impressed by it. :( Natal didn't make the "WTF" article, so Sony's motion device must not have been as impressive. :( Oh well, I hope Sony gets it right next time. It has potential.

From the title, you make it sound like it performs like a dollar store knockoff. The article clearly states it looks like one, and we all already know its not the final product
Way to take an article commenting jokingly about the product and then turn around to make it look like it was a serious comment. Yes, the controller is a big WTF but this is so old that it's not even funny. If you are going to try to bash the performance of the controller, make sure you find an article that corresponds to it. 1Up doesn't think Sony's motion control sucks more, they just think the design is bad. Not hard to read a silly 8 lines, yet you managed to totally twist the meaning.
What's funny is that you also try to sound like you care for the success of Sony's motion, but its clear that you dont from the way you blatantly distorted the actual article.
 Now that I've started to read through the pages, I can't believe how funny you are. I can't tell if you are joking or if you are actually serious anymore.

We're discussing physical design and appearance right? I think NATAL looks fine, but may undergo alterations.IGN, Gametrailers and G4 all say otherwise :)

"One big thing that the Natal will never be able to do is pick up subtle hand movements, such as the twist of a wrist, like the PlayStation Motion Controller can (and Wii MotionPlus for that matter). For things like accurate use of swords or tennis rackets, this is a very necessary thing."

Yeah, the PS Eye is a more relevant comparison. The point is taken though. Natal is an evolved PS Eye (which has a mic as well). I'm sorry, I wasn't aware all cows followed the same pattern of reasoning. If you are going to address me, make sure you address what I say, and not generalize what YOU think all cows say.
A) This has absolutely nothing to do with Natal.
B) Therefore, you made a strawman argument: You respond to me without actually responding to my comment and use a substitute situation. You have achieved nothing
C) You assume generalities. Never once did I critisize Natal without the knowledge that it's not a final product. If anything, I stated my doubts about a product without using a controller
D) So what does my comment have to do with Natal again? And why do you respond to what I said...without actually RESPONDING to what I said?
E) Since this has nothing to do with Natal (once again), your comment is rendered off-topic.
Try harder next time.
Also, you call it a knock-off showing you disregard this whole topic entirely. It's a protype, and the motion control has been demonstrated to be very precise. It makes me think if you actually read and discuss the topics or if you just go around looking for PS3 comments to bash.
I think everybody here who is saying who ripped off who and which is better is grasping for straws. Nobody knows anything concrete and we won't know what will be successful until the tech is mass produced and we see software. If you want to go this route, the entire Japanese electronic industry business is based on tech they didn't invent first. Technology is like this and I really wish people would stop complaining about it. Someone creates something and people iterate on it.
Thank you. Apparantly, if something is similar in design it: A) Rips them off B) Copy's them C) Does something unoriginal The very fabric of how ideas are shared is considered wrong or unethical in a business sense. People seem to think that just because you can use Natal without a controller, it's the only way it's going to be used. I see it being used as a supplemental device for the 360 gamepad as well and that has me jazzed. The same goes for Sony's motion controller..PS3 graphics with super accurate wii control? I'm in. The only reason I no longer have a Wii is because I don't like the games. I love the motion control concept, I just don't think Nintendo is excuting it well enough.

Yeah, there are some cool possibilities for Natal, like the camera recognizing your facial expression in Mass Effect to select your response. And Time Crisis would work great for both. As for Nintendo's waggle implementation, I think it's been great, just not enough of what we want.[QUOTE="heretrix"]This is key for me.I'm not excited about what they showed, I'm excited about the possibilities.[QUOTE="Episode_Eve"] Oh yeah, count me in. didn't everyone already know sony's controls are likely to be the worst motion control. despite how bad natal turns out or if you think wiimote is just a waggle device. they both have something good going for them, microsofts camera has potential, and wiimote is used for pretty much every game. unless sony use motion control next gen i don't see how they will force these onto the user sucessfully, not many are excited for them. the prototypes were a joke they looked like crap, which isn't too big of a deal, but they didn't even have a sticks for control, it was a really basic prototype that's not even practical at the moment.Mckenna1845
i got the vibe that it was simply an add-on for the eye-toy and that is deff. something they need to make more games for

as i said it might turn out crap, but it atleast has the potential to be used. sony motion controls wern't even complete, they said it was a prototype, but it was basically just an ir pointer, it wasn't a controller it can't be used for anything, at this time.
until i see sonys motion controls actually being used in a real game, where the game can be actually controlled, and not just a rail game with motion control they are pointless.
