What are you people even arguing about?. Uncharted 2 is a far better game than Crysis as reviews have shown, and it's not available on PC. End of discussion, good night.

How are you gonna watch both those vids, then come back and say NO game can even match crysis lighting or textures?
Like really? UC2 textures are easily on par with Crysis, especially when comparing these 2 videos.
Same goes for lighting.
As for scale, well obviously, they're completely different games. But again.. you CANNOT say that NO game even MATCHES Crysis' scale. Because first of all, ARMA 2 has a bigger scale than crysis. And I guarantee you, the scale in God of War 3 is going to be insanely epic.
consoles are not cheaper i could build a PC with an athlon x2 and a 9500 for 300 and could get the same performance
all what i would have to do is
1. going the controllpanel, setting the signal to 720p for our upscaled resolution
2. setting the resolution to something like 1000x700 @medium settings and no vsync and no AA and only hdr@high
3. using a controller and playing 6 steps far away for crysis 10
and here are your console graphics
first of all, ps3 doesnt use DX.
Devs can implement certain graphical effects in ps3 games that are not even available on dx10+
I dont understand why people still think ps3 is using DX.

The xbox version of LP is still good. The PS3 version was the worst one of all 4, i know it from my big brother he sold his vesion. The PS3 version realy lagged a lot.
SLIisaownsystem
Except other then Crysis Uncharted 2 trounces about every 2 year old pc game on the market. And you posting the DX10 effects for LP shows how overhyped DX10 was in the first place. Why dont you go get banned again.

[QUOTE="killab2oo5"]101/141 had some form of AA...not including edge-blur. -_- Thanks for making me count all that. :? I guess while I'm at it I'll count the ones with 4xAA...
EDIT 1:This is 360 only, btw. We all know how troublesome the PS3 is to dev for...so it probably has many titles with no AA.
EDIT 2: 36/141 had 4xAA.
killab2oo5
Oh so now were only counting the X360... nice way of puting your argument in your favor... It's funny because you said consoles and not X360.
Well, counting for the PS3 there are 52/136 with some form of AA. Not that majority, but a decent number153/277 of the two consoles games have some form of AA. Not a "vast" majority...but still majority of them have AA.
I taught we were talking about 4xAA... what happen?
Huh? I think you missed ARMA 2 which just came out recently. I was more talking about what comes out this year on the pc as an alternative to unchartered 2. Anyways ARMA 2 has high-res textures and a good draw distance but the 3d models are unimpressive. It's a demanding game but that is more due to unopitmized, buggy engine. Hooray for yet another pc exclusive released as a public beta.[QUOTE="JangoWuzHere"]
[QUOTE="dc337"]
What is the big graphically intense pc exclusive coming out this year? There isn't one.
The market isn't there anymore to support games like Crysis. Deal with it and move one.
It isn't as if people that play unchartered 2 will be disappointed with the graphics.
These types of threads only show how sad pc gaming has become.dc337
Ah yes, your double standards shows again...
PC has no more games like Crysis... so we give you Arma2... you say it's unoptimized.
Really, comon!!!!
you do realize directx is just an api to make it easier on devs, directx supports so many features depending on what version you have, you can likely as a dev just write all the same features into a game engine just not using the directx api, more then likely if they really wanted teh feature, they could make it on ps3/360
You're fooling yourself if you think that looks a "GEN ahead" of this:ps2owns
But see, Crysis is a gen ahead of Uncharted 2. U2's levels are very small, cramped and linear so the artists can really give attation to detail. That's not neccesarily a bad thing, because, as you can see, U2 is freakin' gorgeous. But how many physical objects are there in U2? Not many. In Crysis, however, the worlds are huge and are filled to the brim with physical objects. And physics is not superficial, they add tremendously to the gameplay.
And btw Uncharted 2 NEVER EVER drops below 30 FPS, depending on your rig Crysis will be lucky to even reach 30FPS. ps2owns
Yes, and similarly, Uncharted 2 never ever reaches above 60FPS. Whereas Crysis can, and does. Sure, you might need to turn the resolution down in order to handle high settings and 60+ FPS. But, even so, you can do it at 720p. That's more than most console games anyhow.
[QUOTE="hanslacher54"]
I didn't know that the reason why people play Uncharted was graphics!!
Gameplay>graphics
washd123
exactly. thats why crysis has sold at least 2 million on the pc
Sales don't equal quality....
But seriously, wait for Uncharted 2 to come out, compare the GAMEPLAY of them both, I don't care for graphics.
I don't know if you guys noticed it or not, but I could easily say some PS3 games out 2 years ago is better than some PC games out this year.

yes lets compare the gameplay of a TPS adventure to a sandbox FPS that seems like a totallly legit comparison

sure you could i could also say the world is flat and that people are made of bread, wed both look pretty ignorant there and both be ignoring facts
Looks like some PC fanatics are quivering with fear because console quality graphics are getting to near PC level fidelity.VadameeI really think the only time PC fanatics were at *that* stage was with GeOW's release back in 06. Otherwise. Enough. This is as low as the Uncharted 2 > Crysis threads.
No, we weren't. You said "4xAA? More like no AA!". My point was to prove that most console games do indeed have some form of AA, which they do. If you thought I meant the "vast majority" of console games had 4xAA then why didn't you point out that they obviously didn't when I listed that 36/141 360 games had 4xAA, or both to question me when I listed the ones with that had any form of AA?I taught we were talking about 4xAA... what happen?

Also, you gladly took out the PS3 to favor your argument... it's really a nice try.

Really what you should of said is X360 is the only consoles that seems to have AA on most games. But please, forget 4xAA... and try to compare this to PC... it's really a losing battle.
Crysis has a 91 on metacritic, and Uncharted has 3 reviews, yep you can totally compare that. What are you people even arguing about?. Uncharted 2 is a far better game than Crysis as reviews have shown, and it's not available on PC. End of discussion, good night.

Uncharted 2 hasnt DX10, its weak. Every Game can look completely different on PC compare to the console versions. LP is a good example look at the beautiful DX10 fur and the DX10 filter. I can even see real bullet holes in 3d at the snow. On consoles the game is a decent multiplatform game. But on PC its a graphic bomb and does use a lot of the DX10 technology and SLI. So stop even to compare it with Crysis if it cant beat 2 years old games.
The MT Framework engine from Capcom is the best engine after crytek 2 and looks beautiful. Resident evil 5 has the same and looks also better than Uncharted 2 on any system.
There are PC games that look better than Uncharted 2, no doubt. But saying Uncharted 2 is weak because it doesn't have dx10 is actually showing your ignorance. Consoles don't need dx10 because it's the same hardware on each console, devs can write code which communicate directly to the hardware and it's much more efficient (But more complex to program), any effect that dx10 does, consoles can do it too and more, the only limit is the hardware and devs skills. DirectX is just a set of API which make game development faster and easier for developers and allow them to write code which will be interpreted exactly the same on all hardware. PS3's RSX uses LibCGM. PC NVIDIA has NVAPI/CUDA. http://developer.nvidia.com/object/nvapi.html "NVAPI is NVIDIA's core software development kit that allows direct access to NVIDIA GPUs and drivers on all windows platforms" -NVIDIA Example NVAPI usage is FarCry2 PC where it enables some DX10.1 features on CUDA 1.X GPUs. RSX's LibCGM doesn't overcome Geforce 7's limits e.g. concurrent MSAA + HDR FP, missing decoupled shader and texture units, missing early-Z, missing "mem-port" and 'etc'.kz2,gt5, killzone 2 looks realistic looking....even the ,cod4new splinter cell and ufc looks realer than crysis
crysis looks cartoony and animated.. its basically farcry 2.5

Yeah, I even pointed this out myself a few pages ago.My quote...
"Look HERE you will see that the vast majority of consoles do indeed run at 720p with some form of AA. Many with 4xAA. Majority of the ones at sub-HD res' are from crappy devs."
When I said that I really was only thinking about the 360...which I said in my next reply. Why? Because everyone knows how hard the PS3 is to dev for. Still, including the PS3, most console games have AA, and "many" of them DO have 4xAA. Never did I compare consoles to the PC, and everyone here knows PC's are capable of more than 2/3 year old consoles.

sure it can, but do graphics alone make a game great? i personally don't thing so.My question: Is there a PC game out there that looks as good as Uncharted 2, that uses PC hardware from only 2006 and back (Same year the PS3 was released)? This is an honest question, btw.
If not, than Uncharted 2 looks pretty freakin' amazing considering the time the hardware was released.

Not trying to be ignorant, but I was under the impression Crysis could not be maxed out with top-of-the-line equipment when the game was first released in mid '07. To say that it would look better than Uncharted 2 with PC equipment released in '06 only, I'd say it'd be a very close fight.
Note that I have never seen Crysis in person, nor am I in any way hardware savvy in any way. Just going on what I have heard over the years.

it doesnt have to be maxed out. and this isnt about looks. its about graphics two different things.
crysis can easily run on 2006 hardware at 720p on a mix of medium high and very high in DX9.

While I agree that the topic is about graphics and not the look of the game, we'd be fooling ourselves if the overall look of a game didn't account towards the overall graphics. Like I mentioned before, I have never seen the game in person, and would not know how Crysis set to Medium High would present itself. Crysis may have more scale over Uncharted, but there are plenty of games released on the N64 that have more scale, but that doesn't mean it has better graphics.
If someone could post pics on Crysis set to Medium High/720p (without Mods, please), I would better understand how the game would look, while taking into account Crysis is a much larger game than Uncharted 2.
Once again, I am just trying to educate myself on the subject, not trying to argue that game X is better than game Y.
