2008 has been a disappointing year for Xbox 360 and Microsoft

Xbox 360 has yet to get one AAA exclusive game this year. Kinda sad considering it's entering it's third year on the market. PS3 on the hand has two and has even more lined up for next year.-Renegade

If anyone looks at Xbox 360 without any bias, there is no denying that 2008 has been disappointing for Xbox 360 and Microsoft.

So far in 2008

1) Microsft lost the format war.With HD-DVD dead, there is no way whatsoever for Xbox 360 owners to watch disk-based HD movies. On the other hand, with Blu-ray, the PS3 is the only console capable of playing the best versions of HD movies on the market.

2) Xbox 360 lacks AAAA/AAA exclusives.(Small downloadable games with PS2 graphics don't count). On the other hand, the PS3 has Metal Gear Solid 4 and Little Big Planet.

3) Xbox 360 no longer enjoys having multiplatform games that look or play better than the PS3 versions. In fact, with optional installs, multiplatform games, overall, slightly look or play better (less loading times) on the PS3. Some multiplatform games to be ported will look and play significantly better than the 360 versions. One guaranteed AAA title will very soon arrive in the form of Bioshock 2. It came a year late, but it has improved graphics and additional contents. Another game, Eternal Sonata will also come to the PS3 signficantly improved.

4) Undeniable proof that Xbox 360 has limited the potential of multiplatform games. Because Xbox 360's use of last-gen DVD 9, developer Id lacks the space needed to make their game RAGE according to their original vision. As such, Id had to alter their multiplatform game because of Xbox 360's limitation.

5) Microsoft has appeared desperate. After seeing the PS3 outsold the 360 all over the world, Microsoft, in the span of 3 months has had 2 price cuts and one games bundle (Xbox 360 Pro Holiday Bundle 2008 Includes 60GB Hard Drive). 3 promotions in 3 months!!! How is this not desperate? Perhaps the latest bundle is Microsoft's acknowledgement that the price cuts has moved fewer consoles than they had hoped. Indeed, according to the latest NPD, despite the price cuts last month Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 by less than 50%. This is a disappointment, folks; Xbox 360 underperformed as expected.

6) It is becoming clearer and clearer that the most technically advanced and most innovated console games are found not on the 360 but on the PS3. Metal Gear Solid and LittleBigPlanet say hi!

LOL im going to say what i always say in responce to your threads. Your mum brought you a ps3 for christmas, you wanted it becasue you thought it was the best, and now when all your friends have 360's and plenty of games to choose from, you are feeling a little silly, so instead of admitting you have the inferior console, you come to this thread and hate on the 360, hoping that if you hate enough , the bad feelings will go away.

I wouldn't bet that Gears 2 will ousell LittleBigPlanet on a worldwide basis in the long run. LittleBigPlanet is enjobable by the hardcore and the casuals and will definitely have a longer-lasting demand, saleswise.

LBP is enjoyable by no one but children, grownup casuals wont wanna play it cause its pretty much required you make your own content to begin with, and hardcores wouldn't be caught dead playing whats in essence a mad editor disguised as a childs game.

I don't really like your threads, they're unbelievably biased against the Xbox. But I do agree that it's been a disappointing year for the 360. Lost Oddyssey is the only game I've bought for it this year and Gears 2 is probably the only other game I'll buy for it. A few things though-

1- Microsoft didn't really lose the format war, Toshiba did.

2- Wow, GS scores. They really do decide the console wars.

3- For the most part this is true, except Fallout 3.

4- 3 years into the console war and that's just 1 example.

5- Yeah, it's sales aren't great for a $200 console. But it could be worse.

In fact, with optional installs, multiplatform games, overall, slightly look or play better (less loading times) on the PS3. Some multiplatform games to be ported will look and play significantly better than the 360 versions. One guaranteed AAA title will very soon arrive in the form of Bioshock 2. It came a year late, but it has improved graphics and additional contents. Another game, Eternal Sonata will also come to the PS3 signficantly improved. Let the 2nd sentance of this line prove you don't have a PS3. Any game that Requires an install in not Optional and no game that doesn't require an install cannot be installed! 2 Burnout and Deadspace are the only (Only) games that beniffit over 360. And like I said on another post, GTA4 load times take longer on the PS3!

4) Undeniable proof that Xbox 360 has limited the potential of multiplatform games. Because Xbox 360's use of last-gen DVD 9, developer Id lacks the space needed to make their game RAGE according to their original vision. As such, Id had to alter their multiplatform game because of Xbox 360's limitation. Yes, space is an always will be an issue with 360 just like memory and disc speed will alway be an issue with the PS3

5) Microsoft has appeared desperate. 6) It is becoming clearer and clearer that the most technically advanced and most innovated console games are found not on the 360 but on the PS3. Metal Gear Solid and LittleBigPlanet say hi! It's stupidity like this that wont let me shade a tear if MGS4 goes to the 360...

Now, the good news:

Xbox 360 has gained new (Unreleased) games to it's console that were consider "Undoable on the 360" like Alan Wake Tekken 6 and Final Fantasy 13

FFXIII announced for the 360 = MS winning 2008.

I enjoyed... NG2, Tales, LO, and a bunch of multiplat games too long to list. Still got games to look forward to this year and enjoyed a ton of XBLMP content. I'm not disappointed in the slightest.

Not to mention Tekken 6 coming to the 360. Forget FF XIII coming over, T6 is what I wanted.

my two cents on this matter is that the 360 has been VERY dissapointing in 08, the only games i have played on it this year are cod4 and mass effect. one multiplatform and both from 07.

the ps3 on the other hand....isent much better. The only game ive played on my ps3 this year was mgs4.

so far for me, ps3 wins 08 easily, but both are VERY dissapointing :(

360 blew its load or something, people thought that hitting mass market price would give it the boost that only john mccain needed more, but it moved less consoles than mgs4 moved in the dog days of summer with a $400-500 console compared to a now $200-400? im not sure how much the elite is now, did it come down to 350?

360 is headed to last place, theres no stopping it and only another innevitable ps3 pricedrop will open the eyes of the ones in denial. its already in last place in europe and japan and has been the worst selling of the 3 worldwide despite having the better library and being pretty cheap the whole time with the arcade model in comparison to ps3 laughable $500-600 launch.

I`ll be enjoying LBP for a while then it`s back to superior 360 multiplats, fallout3 (tech problem with PS3 version), Farcry2 (multiplayer plats always belongs on LIVE)... after i am done with that... enter Gears 2 and Left 4 Dead, yeah, good times.

What was this thread about... HD DVD sucks, RROD sucks, something like that... i agree with TC, they do suck!

360 wasnt a let down but PS3 will and so fare had a better year. MGS4, LBP, Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2, Socom. THat is ahard to beat lineup.

The thing is that Microsft wants to do its early release strategy so expect the next xbox soon, and meanwhile sony will pursue its 10 year plan like it does with the ps2. The ps2 by the way is still selling like there is no tomorrow, can you guys imagine that? The console is like 7-8 years old but still pushing over 100k that is just amazing.fistoflight
