I'm guessing calculating the collision between the water and ontop of the sand, and how it would flow, would be a heavy performance impact.

Tech wise, that ocean is crap. Art wise, the KZ3 ocean looks good.

i agree with everyone else in this thread that kz3 is nowhere near graphics king material.

killzone 3 has nice water effects, but that other clip DirectX11 Compute-Shader-Ocean-Rendering looked amazing

I know the DirectX11 ocean is dynamically rendered, but visually it looks much like Empire/Napoleon: Total War ocean.

KZ3 will look better than that when its released. The jungle level should look especially impressive for you cow graphic guys.

FEAR had water like that.

Morrowind had something pretty similar. I always thought the water looked worse in Oblivion and F3 than in Morrowind.

Anno 1404 has some extremely impressive water in DX10 too.

One of the best looking rough seas with crashing waves and chunks for sure, on par with some of the PC game oceans and definitely pisses on any 360 game oceans. Besides it's the alpha build, the final version would most likely pwn.
