Well, kz3 kicks console crysis2's ass any day and I'm sure the PC version would be in another league due to DX11 and etc. Still, the ocean in KZ3 looks incredible by any standard.

for all those who are once again mentioning Crysis... once KZ3 gets released this time ppl can actually compare it to Crysis2, dont forget C2 will be available on consoles... KZ3 doesnt have to be compared to C2 (PC) but the console version.. So we'll see next year which game looks better on consoles..

As regards that footage, pre-rendered or not i still find the overall water effect creates a sort of 'realistic' feel to the surrounding environment...

As a side note, I really, really wish that people would quite automatically dropping Crysis screenshots and videos whenever there is a discussion about what game has the best graphics. There are quite a few other PC games that look equally stunning, and while I'd agree Crysis is probably the most impressive overall, there are certain things that other games do better.

PS3 is my fav console, but i'd feel stupid to say KZ2 looks better than crysis... same thing once KZ3 & Crysis2 (PC) come out, as much as KZ3 will look good it wont match C2 for PC in terms of visual quality.. (although i do tend to prefare KZ2/KZ3 when it comes to artistic style, but that comes down to personal taste)..

Consoles & high end PC's cannot compete in the same league just like small/medium sized family cars cannot compete with Ferrari / Porsche on a technical & performance basis etc...

It's called pre-calculated physics animations. In other words, unlike games like Crysis or Just Cause 2, the water is not animated in realtime and does not react with the environment in real-time. It's just an animated backdrop, like a skybox.

Not to diminish it's effect though, it looks really good. But it's not technically impressive.
