[QUOTE="CajunShooter"]Can't ask much more from Sony in 2011. Sony delivered a A-AAA exclusive in 9 of the 12 months of the year. KC_Hokie

And yet every 2011 PS3 exclusive sequel sold worse than its predecessor. So it shows PS3 fanbois pump up PS3 exclusives but when it was time to actually buy them didn't in 2011.

Damn, the ownage is strong.

CajunShooter

How do you know all the Sony fanboys on here didn't go out and buy most the exclusives? Gamespot is just a handful of users that consist of a 55 million+ user base.

Because every single PS3 exclusive sequel in 2011 sold worse than its predecessor while multiplatforms crushed PS3 and Xbox 360 exclusives combined.

Again, welcome to the multiplatform generation. This isn't the PS2 or PS era.

Behind not only Uncharted 2 but Uncharted as well the last time I checked. KC_Hokie
You do realize they still sell Uncharted 2 new as well as Uncharted/Uncharted 2 Bundle pack new. Uncharted 2 has been out for 2 years now and Uncharted has been out for 4 years. Uncharted 3 has only been out for a little over a month.

Uncharted 3 will sell plenty over the next 2 years.

[QUOTE="ActicEdge"]

You confirmed it to be year of before the year even begins? Well I'm glad cows never get sick of that line.

Nothing on that list is really doing anything special for me. (TLG needs some gameplay and vids before I will get super hyped)

Also rofl, sly raccoon? At least get the name of what you're hyping correct. SLY COOPER.

AtariKidX

:lol:He doesnt even know the NAME of the game he's hyping. Shows you how much he cares about his PS3 exclusives ;).

As for me, I dont give a f*ck about PS3 (or this generation in general) anymore. Im ready for next gen. I'll wait around for the re-reveal of the Wii-U and see what its all about, and if its cheap/worth it i'll get it. Other than that, PS3 lost this generation dude, just give it up.......5 years from now, people are going to look back and remember PS3 as one of the biggest failures EVER, and wont give a damn about all these "exclusives". That being said, Sony isnt even giving them the support they deserve anyways.

I say f*ck the PS3. no PS4, no care.

Sly Raccoon is the name in Europe......lol

Well, I feel like quite the dumbass, however everything else I said still stands.

Im not going to speak on the quality of the games themselves, but if we are talking about what will be remembered, then you HAVE to take relevance into account. And in terms of relevance, people are going to look back at the xbox360 and remember Halo, Gears, Forza, and Call of Duty (which might as well be called a 360 exclusive. Thats the platform it will be associated with reguardless), as well as their advancements in Xbox Live (which is basically a synonym for "online gaming"). The 360 is going to be remembered this gen as the industry standard platform.

Again, in terms of RELEVANCE, the only thing PS3 has that will legitimately be remembered/relevant in the real world will be Uncharted and Gran Turismo. (and maybe Metal Gear Solid 4). In reality, while exclusives DO matter, not only did they come too little too late, but Sony doesnt even give them ANY mainstream marketing. The mainstream simply doesnt care about PS3 exclusives, and most people outside of the internet dont even know they exist. (again, outside of Uncharted, Gran Turismo, and Metal Gear). Again, im not speaking on the quality of those games, but in terms of RELEVANCE, and its Sony's fault. Sony failed these games by not agressively marketing them and giving them any market penetration. Nobody is going to talk about them/remember them 5 years from now. They are going to remember the PS3 as the console that launched at $600, with NO GAMES for 2 years, and was inferior in every possible way to the 360 in features (minus Blu Ray player). Not to mention the PSN hack, etc...

StrongDeadlift

So very correct. The real world isn't like the safe little bubble System Warriors reside in here...

They probably won't though. R3 isn't going to sell more than R1 in all likelihood. Basically, all the older games are still going to be selling as well. I don't see why anyone needs to defend the integrity of their system from sales scrutiny though. I thought only sheep played sales?

Every PS3 exclusive has been out for months (except one) and they still haven't broken the predecessor's sales records. And there are a lot more PS3s out there than when the predecessors were released.

Again, welcome to the age of multiplatform where the two best selling PS3 games are multiplatforms called Call of Duty. And were multiplatforms crush Xbox 360 and PS3 exclusives combined in sales.

That's fine, its true besides U3. I don't see why that denies the PS3 the crown though. Great games the majority didn't play. Yet SW isn't based on the majority, its based on its stupid little bubble of none existant logic propelled by extremely few. Why would you thihk games selling less is worse? Is SMG2 a failure because it sold half of what SMG1 sold?

Read my original post please. I was arguing against this 'year of the PS3' bs. We heard it this time last year for 2011 and yet when it was time to actually purchase the PS3 exclusives PS3 owner generally didn't. Every single PS3 exclusive sequel in 2011 sold worse than its predecessor.

So it can't be year of the PS3 because of sales? You're trying to argue year of is a sales thing? I would argue that the majority of PS3 users here did buy those overhyped exclusives and SW is about the users as they dictate the topic of discussion :|

COD is hardly asscociated with just the 360? Its a large seller on the PS3 nearing 7+ million units. Its recognizedas a multiplat franchise.

Have people already forgotten that Black Ops is the best-selling PS3 game of all time?

The only game beating that is Modern Warfare 3.

Meaning the two best-selling game on the PS3 platform belong to the COD franchise.

Have people forgotten that?

That's fine, its true besides U3. I don't see why that denies the PS3 the crown though. Great games the majority didn't play. Yet SW isn't based on the majority, its based on its stupid little bubble of none existant logic propelled by extremely few. Why would you thihk games selling less is worse? Is SMG2 a failure because it sold half of what SMG1 sold?

ActicEdge

Read my original post please. I was arguing against this 'year of the PS3' bs. We heard it this time last year for 2011 and yet when it was time to actually purchase the PS3 exclusives PS3 owner generally didn't. Every single PS3 exclusive sequel in 2011 sold worse than its predecessor.

So it can't be year of the PS3 because of sales? You're trying to argue year of is a sales thing? I would argue that the majority of PS3 users here did buy those overhyped exclusives and SW is about the users as they dictate the topic of discussion :|

2011 was the year of the multiplatform not over hyped and poorly selling PS3 exclusive sequel. That's my point.

I'm trying to welcome him to the age of the multiplatform. He has the PS2 era mentality going on.

lol...another 'year of the PS3 exclusive'. Never heard that before.

Heard that for every year on SW including 2011. 2011 turned out to be the year of the over-hyped PS3 sequel exclusive that sold worse than its predecessor.

We are now in the multiplatform generation buddy. Get out of the PS2 mentality.

What do you mean? God of War IV will most likely be a better game than Halo 4. The Last Guardian will put Halo 4 to shame and make it look like a mediocre title.

Call of Duty has has an exclusive 360 marketing partnership since 2008. Call of Duty is synonymous with Xbox Live. Not saying people dont play it on PSN, but when people think of CoD, they think of fragheads with 360 headsets, and 360 controllers. Remember, im talking about PERCEPTION, and the perception that people will associate CoD with is Xbox360 and LIVE. There are literally people who sold their PS3's (casuals mind you), just to buy 360s because 360 gets map packs a month early. That may sound stupid to most of us, but thats just the mainstream percieves it.

Exactly. And we hear 'exclusives this and exclusives that' get pumped up which don't even sell well when it's time to purchase them.

When it's time to actually buy games PS3 owners, like Xbox 360 owner, buy multiplatforms. Welcome to the age of the multiplatform 'year of the PS3' cheerleading squad.

When did exclusives stop being the major selling point of a console?

Yes, year of the multiplatform games that were also on the PS3 :|

Your point is stupid. Pick one, is it games or is it sales? Does having the best games make it your year or does having the best sales make it your year? I can't be both.

While some of the PS3 exclusives are great and really fun to play they get way too much credit here on SW.

TLG looks promising though :)

And that has what to do with multiplatforms on the PS3 and Xbox 360 crushing exclusives combined? And the two games with the most GOTY awards last year were (Red Dead Redemption, ME 2)....MULTIPLATFORMS! The games that will likely win the most this year (Skyrim, Arkham City) are....MULTIPLATFORMS!
