Message edited due to censor bypassing.same thing i said about both uncharted games. but that's just because i hate game with absolutely zero depth in gameplay. Scripted scenes FTLI have it. It's not that great... I couldn't even finish it.

3 years later, played the game start to finish.
Still feel that its the highest example that Kojima wasa one trick pony and is sadly in need of an editor for all of his games, There were so many useless plot points, and stories...and quite frankly MGS4 is still movie gear solid 4. And its difficulty is just sad, I remember watching thespeedgamers go through the gameplay portions in a little over an hour the rest of the time was movies... MGs4 thats right has under 2 hours of actual gameplay if you avoid every one and rarely stop to fire a shot.
MGS1 is still the best game in the series.
the ending levels were beast, when you crawl in the microwave thing, and when you fight liquid hand to hand aka cqc
Oh for peet sake I'll start it off!

[QUOTE="CB4McGusto"]not sure if serious, those games are mediocre at bestI dunno. 1st was ok, and Chaos Theory was awesome. But if we are talking about the series in general, then yeah, it's decent at best.Oh for peet sake I'll start it off!

maybe you both should look into anothersimple mindedfps that ends in 3 hours.
The game has way too many flaws for me to consider it the best of anything. It's actually a pretty thin game underneath the cutscenes with not much meat to it; it's pacing starts of moderately strong, but quickly descends into extreme uneveness (Acts 3 and 4 are dominated with cutscenes too the point of ridiculousness and the mission breifings are WAY too damn long), the controls are still rather cumbersone, though improved; the boss fights are good, but much worse than MS3; the story is aimless and meandering with a serious lack of economy (not that MGS is exactly known for that), much worse than MGS3's story.
Not to mention that its 4/5 environments are more bland than 3, 2, an 1's more cohesive environments. And stealth is even less neccesary than previous games. You could almost say the game was casualized if you're the kind of person that uses that term.
Lastly, the is far less variety in the scenarios than previous games.
It's gunplay is much improved from previous games, but it in that category, it has nothing on a game like Uncharted 2.
That being said, it has a kick ass armory and cool stuff to play with. It was amazing how many guns there were to choose from. Nice customization too.
Honestly, I don't get the hype concerning this game. There's nothing about it that seems undeniaby above and beyond other games. There's games that have a much better story, there's game with much better visuals, there are games with much better gunplay, there are games with deeper stealth elements, there are games with much better controls, there are games with much better pacing, there are games with setpieces just as good.
I thought Metal Gear Solid 4 was an amazing game. I loved it. Best Game on the PS3.....until Uncharted 2 came out.

MGS4 is also pretty darn short without the cutscenes.

So are the other Games.
Skip the Codec Scenes they're all pretty short games if you know what you're doing.

I realize that they're all pretty short. MGS1 is especially short without cutscenes.
Good game but far from the best I have played this gen. For me, it is not even the best game on the PS3.
Are you sure it wan't the 10 that made you make up your mind before you even played the game? I actually hated it and thought it was a borefest and wasn't even up to standards of what a game should be.percech
All games should be first person shooters on Windows or X-Box right? You and tthe dude with the Duke nukem avatar seem to hate on PS3 exclusives exclusively.

Then I guess you missed the thread I made on how my 360 RRoD'd and it was my 4th. You missed that I praised my PS3 that has still lasted without a problem for 3 years.MGS4 isn't even the best MGS IMO.funsohng
Yeah, it was pretty watered-down if you think about it.
Less emphasis on stealth, more emphasis on shooting, less variety in the scenarios, a more linear structure, more watered-down environments, simpler boss fights, etc.

"Less emphasis on stealth" What? You can go throughout the whole game only using stealth if you want to. Its a refinement to the MGS series, not watered down. And the environments are just like any other MGS game.[QUOTE="CB4McGusto"]not sure if serious, those games are mediocre at best Lol what. Chaos Theory is better than every Metal Gear game The only one that comes close is MGS3 - which is the best in series by far. MGS4 was boring, convoluted, flamboyant, childish, clunky, drawn out and the last cut-scene goes on for OVER AN HOUR.Oh for peet sake I'll start it off!
