well obviously 60fps is better but tbh i dont care as long as the games good. i mean what kind of monkey goes oh well i only play games at 60fps, 30 is too peasant for me and my 10 thousand dollar gaming rig
30 FPS is fine for me. Higher is better, but isn't always necessary. I think racing games need 60 fps to be their best though, because the movement is just too fast for 30 to convey properly. But for most types of games, 30 is enough.
I'd rather a game be locked at 30 then fluctuate between 30 and 60 throughout the game though, since consistency will win out for me over shocking changes in frame rate.
60Hz (and FPS as result) is what eye can see, after thet we don't see much diffrence, maybe a little bit smoother animations

People have said that with 30FPS, say that with 60fps, and in a near future will be saying it with 120FPS.
I'm expecting the "LOL at consolites with their 60fps toys, hermits play with their 120fps machines" threads.
The higher the better of course but some games I prefer being at 30FPS while having some awesome graphics like Uncharted. On the other hand games like SF, GT5 & Wipeout should always be at 60FPS because of the game being fast paced and all..
Oh by the way, is Bayonetta 60FPS?

expecting what? we already do that, for years actually. we just don't need to brag because
the consolites aren't bragging about 60 fps in our faces every time
60 fps is where it's at. Dreamcast showed me that consoles shouldn't be limited in that regard, and yet 10 years later the consoles shifted back a few paces, and games are coming out at 30fps, and even lower at times......Luckily Nintendo didn't follow that trend.
Some games I just find are near unplayable at 30fps though.Once you've grown accustomed to 60fps in the majority of your games you will begin to notice the choppiness in games that don't run near that.
30 frames is good enough for most kinds of games, but 60 FPS is absolutely necessary for sports and racing games.
Depends on the game. Ratchet and Clank ran at 60 FPS, and Insomniac said that they will probaly knock that down to 30 FPS so they can get better visual quality for future games. A game like that, I dont really care if its 60 fps. A shooter however, I want to be 60 FPS
N64 had one game at 60 FPS F-Zero X. Most of Nintendo's games are usually 60 FPS. I can only think of a few that were 30 FPS last gen one of them being Super Mario Sunshine.60 fps is where it's at. 30 fps > 60 fps. I see everyone above me only plays CSS and Cod games :O

Then you've never played a fighter before
Why would I play a fighter on PC ? :S Mugen?I'd rather have constant 30 fps than freezing and stuttering at 60fps so i don;t really care... 30fps is fine and anyone who denies this is just a victim of the Placebo effect thinking its all soooo much better.30 fps > 60 fps. lol
People who won't play a game based on it's framerate are just as bad as people who won't play a game with good graphics.

Yes, because choppy frame rates, and slow down don't take away from the gameplay at all!

Oh, the irony.
depends on the games for me
For an FPS, or any competitive game that need quick response and less imput lag, I definitly need my 60 Frames :)
But for most other type of games, I feel like 60 feels way too speedy, it looses the cinematic effect that makes some games just EPIC (such as god of war 3)
Therefore, it depends :D
Are those videos supposed to be examples of each? If so MEGA fail. It's the same video running at different speeds. That's not how it works. Video framerate isn't the same as game and animation framerate...In movies its speed in games its fluidity.

Not true. If you've got an old CRT monitor, open a white notepad page to full screen and tell me you can't see that flicker. 60hz is horrible.
The human eye can see far in excess of 60FPS, JFYI.
60 is better, no questions asked. But i will give away 60 for 30 if it means better graphics, because with this 42 inch baby everything looks like it is 60 fps, so smooth. :D
I have never really seen a noticeable difference... then again i probably should be wearing glasses but dont.

The only thing those videos show me is the horrible AI in RE5.
for single player 30 is fine, for a fast paced multiplayer game....I'd much rather have AT LEAST60. I don't care if I have to turn everything down to low or off. performance > visuals.
It doesn't bother me. But I really like it when games are in 60fps. However 30 is absolutely fine. I think that the added benefit of 60fps makes game look better than if they had better textures or whatever. Rage shows it really well. It is easily the best looking game on consoles (from what has been seen so far), mostly because of how smooth it is.
I prefer stability over higher framerate, if possible. I'd much rather have a steady 30fps that never ever dips, than a game that's kinda 60 but drops to 30 sporadically or (worse) floats in 40's/50's and constantly tears.
Teufelhuhn
yeah, thats true. Some games are even broke and are constantly switching between 30 and 60 with nothing in between like in SH3 on PC. I played it with a framelocker @ 30. It was just annoying when ever you got into a new room its going from 60 to 30.
I run 120 refresh rate myself :P makes games more smooth imo
GTSaiyanjin2
me too its awesome for old classics like doom and hexen.

No they are real check out the frames with fraps or something. Youtube doesnt allow more than 35 frames.
As we all know, movies are shot at 24 FPS. If a game mimics this (one that is cinematic mind you), then the game will seem a lot more cinematic and such.30 is the lowest any game should hit. Higher is ALWAYS better. I can't ever see myself saying I wish this 60 FPS game ran at 30.
I can see turning down effects for better framerate. I can see putting up with 30 for the effects if the developers gave me no choice (consoles) or the leap from high to ultra is noticeable.
I can't imagine anyone saying, "I really like it when my games run slower".
