The point is 30 fps is absolutely enough for most games and the tradeoff for visual downgrade to make a game 60 fps is just not worth it most of the time.
next gen is all about detail and devs and gonna want to push as many things on screen as possible. sure next gen consoles can easily do 1080p 60fps but it will still only look this gen. 30fps is absolutely playable and even have its own benefits over 60fps. the best looking console games next gen are most likely going to be 30fps, allowing max detail and maximum polish. killu-laterWrong. The Wii U, which many consider will be to the next generation what the Wii was to this generation, can do 60 fps at 1080p, so there is no reason why the next Xbox and Playstation won't be able to do it, unless they are patently weaker than the Wii U.

Troll confirmed.
Not really. Im a PC gamer since early 90s and as far as I remember Ive always had framerate issues on my PC. Now I can afford high end PC that handles anything on max with decent fps but there are not enough good games on PC anymore.

Agreed Demons Souls/Dark souls are pinnacle of gaming (but so are some recent PC-only games like Witcher 2).
Also those Nintendo exclusives like Metroid Prime and Zelda are worth picking up, and Valkyria Chronicles is up there too.

Why? Most games are 100% fine on 30 fps. The only thing that needs to run on higher fps are racing games and fast paced shooters like Quake 3 Arena that you cant (or dont want to) play on joypad anyway.

No most games aren't fine at 30FPS. Get use to playing @ 60FPS and try and play a game at 30. It's horrible. You're simply use to 30FPS.[QUOTE="BlbecekBobecek"][QUOTE="Austindro"]

I prefer the fluidity of 60fps, that is what I am use to. The drop-off is noticeable is to me.

Wrong. many PC gamers struggle with framerate. yet the few who can afford to run 1080p 120fps try to speak for the whole PC worldI personally have a preference for 60fps. Resolution, I'm fine if they can keep it at a good 1080p, or even 720p if it means more in the effects and elsewhere.
To me, the framerate is what matters the most since it affects gameplay, and it gives me an extra sense of immersion.

No it doesn't, just turn off the lock framerate in FRAPS's options, only costs 7fps in crysis2 for me.[QUOTE="Austindro"][QUOTE="killu-later"] yay now the whole world knows that your PC can do 60fps, you are now officially popularkillu-later

The difference between 30 frames to 60 is still noticeable to the human eye. I prefer progression with each gen, I don't want gaming to be stagnate.

Thats not the same. Graphics improved a lot but most of devs decided (aka design decision) that 30 fps is enough and its not worth to cut the image quality and reach 60 fps. TBH if you showed me two screens with exactly the same game and one would be running at 60 fps while the other would be at 30 fps, I think I couldnt even tell you which is which. I can only tell the difference when Im playing Quake 3 Arena on near-pro level - thats where the framerate shows.
Notice that this discussion (30 fps vs 60 fps) is only a matter of what level you decide is enough. There could easily be another guy who would say that anything below 120 fps is too low for him, but general consensus is that 30 fps is enough for most games and there is no reason to change it even in next gen.

Easy, better graphics, better ai... anything that takes more time to process is going get better if you give it more time.30 fps has advantages over 60? Please, name me some.
