[QUOTE="Furbyballistik"]now why would you want more that one disk, of the same game? i couldnt stand disk swapping during the ps1 days, so im extremely happy that the ps3 has cured that for me! it wasnt only a hassle bcuz of the disk swapping either. what made it more wack was having to make sure all your disk were in good shape, not misplacing any, and having fatter cases! installs PWNS multiple disk in soo many levelsblitzkid1
Luckily 360 owners will be able to install games this fall.
I don't think it's even verified yet whether multi-disc games don't need to swap discs when it's put on the hard drive... or whether multi-disc games can be installed as "one game" on the hard drive. I would think that's difficult to do, because the entire game is designed around the concept of having to switch discs.[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"]I'm not even going to get into this debate in a massive way...but
WHile disc swapping isn't even a big issue(how lazy are you people) there are 2 legit flaws(1 if your not in the U.S.)
1- the case for multiple discs suck. It is the discs on top of each other....and if its a 4th disc it comes in a side thing(LO) which is wack
2- If 1 disc gets scratched, the whole game for the most part is some what ruined(mild issue, but something to be considered)
However while we are on this disc swap thing(for the lazy people again)
MGS 4 had mandatory installs between acts that ranged between 1-3 minutes(exaggerated but you get the idea) and had loading..
That is basically longer than a disc swap.....ArisShadows
2. One disc scratched or one of out four scratched, both are ruined. Most part you could say it a higher chance tho.

It's hard to scratch a BluRay disc[QUOTE="Haseokicksass"]ID rather get a 10 min install over with instead of having to change disks every 2 hours.blitzkid1
So your saying FF13 will be short ? because in Lost Odyssey i changed a disc in 15 hours for the first time and 12 hours for blue dragon on the first disc.
Exactly, cows dont get this for some reason. Either that or they are just too lazy to get up once every 12 hours. I had absolutly no problem switching disks for Lost Oddesey, it diddnt take away from the game at all, it diddnt interupt play, it diddnt effect it in any way whatsoever.
[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"][QUOTE="hayato_"]either the installs on PS3 are really long on some games or your really quick at sex.Installing because we can do the following:
- Make sandwich
- Go to bathroom
- Read
- T.V
- Ring up an old friend and tell him im installing
- Talk to roommates
- Throw a party
- sex
- Play a computer game
- Listen to my Ipod
- I don't have to risk breaking my back or leg switching disc
- jump out a window
- Homework
- etc
- etc
When its done, I can shut my door and live in solitude

Try switching a disc. Nobody said you had to play the game when it got done installing.
Final Fantasy XIII after sex would be like a cigarette after sex only longer I guess.

It's hard to scratch a BluRay discIts hard to scratch any disc if you take care of your stuff.
We have confirmation it's a mandatory install? It could be optional, and hell installs are the last thing on my mind right now.
The game is still focused and being developed on the PS3, but the 360 development hasn't started. I'm curious how the porting will happen, and what sacrifices will be made to squeeze it on multiple discs or DVD 9. (Sound compression, graphical, etc.)
I'll be buying the game on PS3 anyways, it's what I got the system for.
It doesnt matter as long as you enjoy a great game... i wouldnt mind changing discs every 8 hrs or more, but I also dont mind having to install a game in order to achieve faster loading times...
In the end what I care about is that the game is great and I have a good time playing it..

good for nothing good comes from mutiple disks unless their bonus cds.If I wanted excercise I would go outside playing videogames is suppose to be the opposite.
[QUOTE="blitzkid1"][QUOTE="MassiveKaos"]This has to be the biggest fanboy topic ever. Installation is ONE TIME. So as soon as its finished installing you wont have to do it ever again. Whereas youll still have to switch disc alots. Fanboy or not im sure everyone would prefer a one time install than multiple discs and switching.MassiveKaos
so how many times did you have to install on MGS4 .
I wouldnt know as i haven't played mgs4 but every other ps3 game that has to be installed is one time.MGS4 has a couple of installs but if you look it in terms of how long the actual game is...
(And for those of you saying its all cutscenes, actual gameplay time is about the same as COD4 if you rush through the entire game... It's a stealth game so it takes the average person even longer)
I really doubt the game would be possible on the 360 even on multiple discs.
Remember that the read speed of a Blu-Ray Disc in parralell to the HDD is faster than the 12x DVD9, so maybe if the 360 had a compulsory install it might be able to be done.
That would mean screwing over anyone without a HDD. Add to the fact that you have to use the Microsoft HDD's, people are going to be fairly pissed....
Installs on the 360 i have to say would suck. Eating up your HDD space at lightning speed isn't a good thing.
Although it can happen to my PS3 as well, at least it's possible to replace the 80GB with a larger non-proprietary HDD anytime I want... (I haven't come close to that point yet though).
And well yeah I find installations easier than switching disks...

Interesting. They seem quite resistance, because recently I got this wierd inky in water effect within the shiny bottom part of my MGS4 disc, but it seems okay. I wonder if it because I left it in my PS3 for too long and it was hot, hmm?

360 is clearly the winner when you weant to play the game instead ofhaving to wait on instillations.blitzkid1
Actually, if you do want to install it on 360 HDD, you can do it for all DVD's, and get much faster loading times than on PS3, and never change a disk
So, on 360 you can either have install+better than PS3 speed of loading
or
not have to install anything
Which is a win-win situation, and you always have the choice

I mean there really isn't a science to keeping multiple discs good and clean. this is just plain nit pickingjg4xchamp
You'd be surprised. My Legend of Legaia copy is missing. Both discs
I also had my Valkyrie Profile (yes) worth $170 stolen when I was a kid. It wasn't big back then, hell I bought it for $10 bucks.
Me and my friend actually lost both are disc 1s to Xenogears, but I rebought mine at around $12 dollars (great game) and don't be like its all you fault becaue as you get older sometimes you tend to leave stuff behind or get involved in other things. It was a time when I completly stopped gaming for about 2 years and picked up a basketball for a lonngg time . I jsut recently got back into it though.

This whole thread is about nitpicking small details, "Oh no teh PS3 has the instals." "Oh nos I have to get up to switch discs" So what did you expect to come from this? Nitpicking begets more nitpicking, neither side can really "Win" in a sense because it's almost a laughable to call either one an "Advantage"

Stealing can't be said, because they could easily still your single one disc or all four of your discs. I have never really ruined a disc in my life.
would much rather disk swapping
heres why : well with the 360 version you can put the disk in a play straight away...with a game ive been anticapiting for so long i dont want to have to wait for a "install" for hours just to get a bit better loading. So instead i got a 3-4 disk game...so what when it says change disk in like 20 hours through the game for the first time its just a simple matter of getting up and changing the disk we have all done it in the past its not rocket science and it doesnt take any time hardly to change a disk. :|
Once the install is done on a ps3 version i could be more then a hour or more into my 360 version.
There both just as bad.
Disk swapping involves mutiple disks to take care of.
Installing means waiting to play a game you want to play, and having to install the game every time you come back to it (as the 40g PS3 fills up fast and you delete stuff).
They both suck, niether has an advantage.
ID rather get a 10 min install over with instead of having to change disks every 2 hours.Haseokicksass
2 more like 10-12. I guess some people are really that lazy. I wonder how you ever change games on your PS3. If your too lazy to change a disc every 10 hours your probably to lazy to change games. I bet your still have resistance in your PS3.
How do I know your lazy you exaggerated 12 hours feels like 2 hours for you
