MS is shipping 12,000,000. So at the most they are selling 12,000,000. VGcharts is inaccurate and I've heard NPD backs MS's original 10,000,000 sold statement.

according to vg charts 360 isnt leading in all that much in average monthly sales, and when i update my sig, PS3 will actually be winning.

Just recently visted http://vgcharts.org/ and notice they updated all the console sales, yet showed the 360 has yet to break the 10 million mark. Is this possible? Is vgcharts why off on this one? What do you think?-Sir-Poof-

There is no way to accurately pinpoint how many consoles are directly sold to consumers.  It is impossible.  The only indication we have is how many consoles were shipped.   As of the end of January, MS announced they have shipped 10 million and expect 12 million to be shipped by the end of March or May (I think).

While those are not the actual "sales", it is the best indicator we have of demand or retail sales.  Why?  Because if shipments are steady each month then it shows demand is steady.  In the case of the Wii, even with high shipments, it is still selling out rapidly...which shows a very high demand right now. 

When shipments decrease then it shows demand at the retail level is decreasing.  This oculd be actual lack of interest (ie. PS3) or it could simply be the slow time of the year (typically right now). 

So while the shipped numbers are not actual sales, no website or firm that tracks sales is accurate either.  The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.
