[QUOTE="Medjai"]I don't care what anyone says here you would be hard pressed to build a gaming rig (strictly gaming not talking web surfing or anyother pc functionality) for $400 or less that can out preform the 360projectpat2007

"(strictly gaming not talking web surfing or anyother pc functionality)  "

You just described a console.

If you are willing to pay more for the initial price and over time, pay less..and have the ability to web surf and do other PC functions, get a PC.

Dude basically everyone hear owns a PC regardless if they play games on it or not. Some people play other genres other than FPS and RTS which is most popular on the PC. When was the last time a Baseball, Boxing or Fighting game released on the PC?

[QUOTE="Deihmos"][QUOTE="NobuoMusicMaker"][QUOTE="Deihmos"]

[QUOTE="NobuoMusicMaker"]Uh I can make a PC that's more powerful than the Xbox with less cash involved.NobuoMusicMaker

Sure you can. My PC couldn't run Dirt properly and it cost a lot more than an Xbox. The E6600 processor is almost the price of the Xbox core.

I'm sorry you don't know how to put together a PC or get deals on components.

Lmao. Show me the lowest price you can find the E6600 or the Q6600 if you want better performance? I got my E6600 from Newegg on January 29th and the price was $316 but now it's $223. You basically always get screwed with these price drops.

Umm the 360 isn't THAT powerful. An oced E6400 is good enough to outperform it.  I made my friend a PC with an E6400 ($190 CAD) + 8800GTS ($290 CAD) and then reusing some old parts like case, optical drive, kb+m.  Even got a cheap 2gb OCZ Platinum PC2-6400 for a mere 30 bucks.  So I pretty much made a PC that can outperform a 360 by a lot since 2gb RAM and 8800 GTS pretty much blows it out of specsland.

I can't really show you the deals because they are weekly sale items on NCIX, a local retail store.  I just jump on the gun when something is worth the money.  A bit of Ebay if there's something I can snipe.

So your friend's PC is more powerful, but how is that less cash involved?  With the price of the CPU and video card you're alraedy looking at Xbox 360 Premium + Call of Duty 3 or Forza 2 (if you buy at Future Shop), and you didn't even mention motherboard or power supply.

The funny thing is the people that look exactly like their character in the WoW and I'm talking about the dwarf

When I'm a senior citezen I'll think about getting into silly games like WoWNeal_Gore

This post and your avatar = funny.

I bought WoW for my 55 year old dad.  He definitely likes it.  I would play it if I were his age too.  My mom actually looks up information on the internets to help him play on the computer next to him.  I can't decide if it's cute or gag-worthy.  Either way, it's hilarious.

[QUOTE="gingerdivid"]The funny thing is, they are only expansions but yet they still have more replayablility than Gears of War. -The-G-Man-

Not to mention that the third AAA, Command and Conquer 3, is better on PC. It doesn't count because it's multiplat.

And Gears is still a good game; I've played the single player many times and the multiplayer is very addictive.

I am not a fan of third person shooters (Max payne being an exception), I didn't really enjoy it. The multiplayer portion seemed to be full of people just using the chainsaw bayonet.

Typical response.  Say a good game mentioned on the system you don't like isn't good because you don't like it, which you are probably saying you don't like in the first place simply because it isn't on your favorite system.  I swear, you people need to be more original.

PC ($732.02) + 25 games ($50 each)= $1982.02

Xbox 360 ($400) + 25 games ($60 each) + Xbox Live for 4 years ($50 each year) =2100

A car 30,000 dollars then after you drive it off the lot and a year later it's only worth 15,000

A home in a nice neighborhood 250,000, a family moves in that makes the current residence move elsewhere, the house is then worth 200,000 or less

Doing over time price comparisons is stupid

Why?

If you actually believe a comparison of initial price is a smarter idea...you need to check your head, really.

Your probably saying that because the 360, out of all the console, cost the most after the initial price...

If noticed thoug, half those components are deals...that is $1000 PC without the deals. A person could go find a used 360 if looked carefully enogh for $200-250. And what if they don't play a lot of online, just the games? That also knocks out money...

I build computers, I grew up with them all my life. The fact is...not every single computer user looks for deals, or builds computers...infact 80% or more don't. While the 360 will also have a static price.

Face it, it's a known fact that consoles are a much better value. You spend money, and they last for 5-10 years...PC's your upgrading every year if you wanna keep up. In the long run, you spend way more on computers, you should know better then that.

Yes, PC's are technologically better, but at the same time because of consoles optimization's they keep up better. Nobody here can argue that vs past generations...they consoles are keeping up better with PC's. They won't out do em no...but they are bluring the lines.

PC's just have to many varibles, but they have to. Just enjoy the ****ing games, that goes for everyone. I can't believe how whiney everyone can be. The fact is they all have good graphics. It's like comparing Lamborgini or Ferrari, or Porsche...pick your poison.

People still, forget where talking about PC.

A PC does a mullion others things, and you can't live in this world with out them.

So, would it be cheaper to buy a 360, and then buy a whole other PC...No.

It's much cheaper to make your PC, your gaming system.

Where can you find a 360, not used, for $200-$250, you can't.

Even if I redid, the comparison with the 360 at that price, it would be roughly the same, in which the PC is still a more viable solution, because it can do so much more.

And, you get to play the most AAA, AA, A...on the PC.

The chainsaw is rather easy to avoid; pop a few bullets into the guy with the revved up chainsaw and he has to rev it up again.  The only time the chainsaw is really good to use in multiplayer is if you come up on a guy from around a corner while he isn't expecting it.

You are obviously using the term "PC" loosely as PC's can almost do anything nowadays, if this was the case, every office block would be riddled with 360's.

In terms of games, the PC has more AAA, AA and A titles to an overwhelming degree, such a foolish title for a thread.

Neal_Gore

Duh, the PC has been out for a long time. The 360 has been out over a year. This year you'll see more AAA titles on the 360 than on the PC.

I was actually referring to this year, and the last. :)

Your special

It's You're special, not your :)

Like i said people play other game types other than FPS and RTS which are the most popular games on PC. The PC also get a ton of games released every day but 99.9% of them are pure junk.

Ok point in case, but if we are talking just strickly gaming machine though...my point stands.

As far as the games though, there may be people that don't like PC game, or may not have appeal. Sometimes people like the plug n play of consoles.

Like I said, it's a pick your poison kind of position. It depends on a multitude of things...one with a list that would be to great to put in detail.

In all things given, consoles over 5-10 year period in which they are built for are a greater value "in gaming" terms. We could assume the person could have a older PC for internet/work use. But then again...there are too many differences to list...

Like i said people play other game types other than FPS and RTS which are the most popular games on PC. The PC also get a ton of games released every day but 99.9% of them are pure junk.

Does that change the fact, that the PC still gets the most AAA, AA, A evey year...So, far it looking all the same.

There is just one PC while consoles get upgraded every 4 or so years. I don't see why people compare the two but people still do it. I am sure morst of the so called AAA titles are mostly RTS and FPS games.

Typical response.  Say a good game mentioned on the system you don't like isn't good because you don't like it, which you are probably saying you don't like in the first place simply because it isn't on your favorite system.  I swear, you people need to be more original.

I own a PC that would be considered in nerd talk as a "sweet gaming rig or sexy gaming machine" but i'm not paying 15 bucks a month to live in the World of Warcraft when I'm happy living on planet earth.

Hermits talk about free gaming and yet they pay 15 bucks a month for WOWzers which comes out to 180 dollars a year

I think they release them every year, but no body really cares about them.

Nah the last Baseball game on PC was 2001 I think and I don't know of any Boxing games. Fighting games are basically not existant.

There is this game. It is a baseball game.

Sorry I was not referring to Nintendo like Baseball games. I cannot believe you recommended a game with 3.0 ratings.

As far as games go, it's totally a preference thing. Some people like Console offer, some like what the PC offers.

Most of the 360 titles are on the PC, anyways.

Console don't last 5-10 years, either.

Also, the PC I proposed, had a 8800gts as the gpu, which even 10 years from no, will be producing much better graphics than the 360.

The PC is not a console and should never be considered a console. They are not designed specifically for gaming while consoles are. WHen a console can be upgraded then people can compare the two.

And how do you know this?

Xbox Live is not optional if you want to play games online.  MMOs are optional.  The 360 has an MMO as well.

Are you trying to cast WoW as "expensive". When all is said and done, for the the ammount of content offered, you end up saving money playing WoW than you would playing other games. WoW acts as your go to game for the entire time you play it. In order to get anywhere near the same ammount of content on normal games you'd have to continuously buy more and more games. 15 a month is relatively cheap when you figure in how much you'd spend on other games.

Are you trying to cast WoW as "expensive". When all is said and done, for the the ammount of content offered, you end up saving money playing WoW than you would playing other games. Vandalvideo
What a silly thing to say.

It saves me money because I don't have to buy other  games.

Oh, or, I know.  I'll just buy a 12 pack less a month.  Or, a pizza less.  *grumble*

The funny thing is the people that look exactly like their character in the WoW and I'm talking about the dwarf

When I'm a senior citezen I'll think about getting into silly games like WoW

Typical response. Say a good game mentioned on the system you don't like isn't good because you don't like it, which you are probably saying you don't like in the first place simply because it isn't on your favorite system. I swear, you people need to be more original.

I own a PC that would be considered in nerd talk as a "sweet gaming rig or sexy gaming machine" but i'm not paying 15 bucks a month to live in the World of Warcraft when I'm happy living on planet earth.

Hermits talk about free gaming and yet they pay 15 bucks a month for WOWzers which comes out to 180 dollars a year

Not every PC gamer plays WoW or MMOs so you fail.

Not really since the some of the people that play WoW are the same people that talk smack about XBL being 50 bucks a year

And since you label lemmings as the same then you hermits must all be the same too

Well you need XBL to play against other people online in every game, you don't need WoW to play against other people online in every game.

XBL isn't like free PC online gaming.

With PC gaming you got a bunch of serparate services for voice, buddy lists etc. etc and with XBL you have all that in one nifty package.

Of course they are trying to change that with vista and games for Windows

And how do you know this?

Xbox Live is not optional if you want to play games online.  MMOs are optional.  The 360 has an MMO as well.

The only MMO I know of is Final Fantasy and you do not need to be a gold member to play it online. I cannot believe PC gamers complain about a mesely $50.00 a year. Hell i get my subs for $20.00 on eBay.

Thats because it offers just as much play time as continuously buying other games. For the sheer ammount of content the game offers, 15 a month is trivial when you think how many games you'd have to buy to get just as much content.

But, that's 180 a year.  I don't spend that much on any 1 game ever.  Furthermore, you still buy other games.
