everything you just said there was the complete and utter ...................truth...... lol yeah i know i have that stuff too and ive seen the same things you mentioned..If you dont own a 1080p t.v. .....none of this matters.
If you do own a 1080p t.v......then;
with my xbox 360 ( with out a hd-dvd add on ) i get;
1080p games ( mostly upscaled from 720p but there are some native 1080p games )
720p digital download movies from the marketplace.
with the HD-DVD add-on ;
Full 1080p hd-dvds every bit as nice or nicer than blu ray disc.
With my PS3;
most games support 720p only and look like crap when upscaled to 1080i/1080p
virtually no digital movie or tv show downloads available
full 1080p blu ray disc with extreme variety in picture quality with many,many terribly mastered blu ray movies that are a complete waste of money and a rip off.
I get much more movie use from my xbox360 set up than my ps3.

The people that argue HD-DVD does not offer HD signals are the sort of people that argue VGA is high definition (that's right, it's not). These people have no idea, and have no insider knowledge. These people are naive 15 year olds that think they know best. These people are wrong.Matmoo_Wii60Then you are telling me that my computer is not doing HD!?!?!?
Well if by True HD you mean 1080p then no. But not all BD's are even 1080p at this time which is odd to me.wooooode
All BDs and HDDVDs are 1080p.
"true HD" :roll:Jandurin
I have a buddy that does CGI in LA. In their circles, True or FullHD is 1080p. 720p and 1080i is called half HD. That's in the industry.The FCC has labeled HD as 720p and 1080i, and never even contemplated 1080p originally. But the FCC deals with broadcasting. So take your pick.

full HD is nothing but a marketing term
1080p isn't even a high resolution compared to some dispalys out there

My pick is: 480p. Enhanced Definition ftw.WTF, I thought that one post I recieved was all the attention this topic will get and I come back to see its over 100 posts...
Its just one simple question.

when it comes to HD PS3 owns 360

When to come to games running 1080 P natively PS3 has like probably 4 times as much games running this resolution were as X360 has two I think. I only know of Virtua Tennis, but i think there was another one
As for HD movie Viewing I am yet to hear a review telling me X360 is any where near as good as PS3. Heck PS3 ranks near the top even compared to standalone BD players
That dude at the top was either joking or lacking in up to date info
[QUOTE="mjarantilla"][QUOTE="Blue-Sky"]Are people really this clueless?
Well if DVD had enough space for a full HD movie, that kinda makes BR/HD-DVD obsolete. no?
Jandurin
Actually, DVDs do have enough space for 720p movies. But don't let the electronics industry catch you spreading that around. They have a little bit of money invested in making you buy new things.
not enough room for other languages and all the "options". But, yes, definitely enough space.Only if compressed, which takes away from overall quality.
Only if compressed, which takes away from overall quality.rockydog1111There are uncompressed 720p movies that take up only 4 gigs.

Funny, all the games I've played on PS3 so far run in 720p. Dirt, Bioshock, and Call of Duty 4 run in 1080p on 360.
[QUOTE="EmperorSupreme"][QUOTE="SecretPolice"]It most certainly does - through DL though not disk format.Jandurin
The download movies are only 720 movies, True HD is 1080p and those movies are too large for DL. So is lossless audio.
"true HD" :roll:Yeah, I can barely even tell the difference. My Toshiba 37" 720p looks better than some 1080p TVs.

actually none of those games run in 1080p on 360
360 just scales the games to 1080p
[QUOTE="rockydog1111"]Only if compressed, which takes away from overall quality.JandurinThere are uncompressed 720p movies that take up only 4 gigs.1. How long timewise are they?
2. They'd be impossible to play in a stock DVD player uncompressed--you can't even play uncompressed DVD footage on a stock drive (bandwidth is the problem here--you'll overwhelm the drive).
In the final analysis, does resolution really matter? Halo 3 doesn't render 720p natively but has high definition lighting...and scored a 9.5. I won't go further from there. Meanwhile, there's a decent list of 1080p native PS3 games...yet not one exclusive's managed to even reach 9.0.actually none of those games run in 1080p on 360
360 just scales the games to 1080p

No i am not joking or uninformed. I speak from practical experience from owning both console which work side by side, hooked up to the same Samsung 1080p dlp hdtv. I sure dont see any HD advantage with the PS3,
