Imo in terms of value for money, cost, reliabilty, hardware and hidden fee's all that lingo the PS3 is clealry ahead, and while Imo it's clearly ahead in games too that's going to depend on your taste.
I reccomend checking out this thread.
PS3 vs 360
It lists all the AA+ games that are on one console but not the other.
Asking which one to buy in system wars is not a good idea. Check out the exclusives, read around, it's not that hard.
This is in before you get a load of cows and lems ruining the thread! :P
It all depends on what you want from your machine my friend, and also depends on what consoles your friends may have. If all your friends have an XBOX 360, then I recommend the 360, and vice versa for ps3.
If you want to have the best online service ands dont mind about paying a yearly/monthly subscription fee for it, then the 360 is your best choice.
If you want to have a multimedia machine, that is also able to play the latest blu ray films as well as great games, then the ps3 is your best choice.
It also depends on exclusives, do any exclusive games take your fancy from either platform?
On the whole, I personally recommend the ps3, but many may think otherwise.

listen to him but also think about what your friends have too. but I do reccomend the 360Squire! 360 is $200/$300 with $50 per year for online. PS3 is $300/$350. 360 controls are excellent for FPS and bad for fighters. DualShock 3 is decent for anything. Floppy_JimThis about sums it up. Oh yeah 360 gets Kinect, and PS gets Move. Both are bad, but at least most Move games also support DS3.
What kind of games do you enjoy playing? That would be most helpful in ascertaining which console you would most like.sam_nintendoThis. But for some reason people dont like to do some research about the products they are interested in, instead they come here and expect us to make their decisions for them, when we dont know anything about them.
which should i get and why I just want to know about cost and controls.rickybigboy83just kind of depends what you're looking for. do you game with friends a lot? personally, that's always my determining factor. both consoles do just fine, but you might want to buy the one most of your friends use. also, is blue ray a selling point? the fact that the PS3 has a BR player is good motivation. really can't go wrong with either, though.

What would you say is better for assassins creed? either. it is arguable, and i do mean arguable, that multiplatform titles look and play better on the 360 (again, there's some multiplats that are better on PS3). PS3 does have free online, which is an attractive feature to many. i think a lot of it comes down to figuring out what games you want.
assuming you have a hdtv;
both offer hd gaming
both have wireless built-in but 360 has wireless N
ps3 has blu ray and hd movies from psn and streaming from netflix. 360 has great hd streaming from the Zune marketplace and netflix.
they have essentially the same game libraries...except for exclusives of course. ( multiplats are generally considered slightley superiour on the 360 )
exclusives....this is what seperates one console from another. your choice on what you like to play....Killzone 3 or Halo, Little Big Planet 2 or Halo, Motorstorm 3 or Halo, GT5 or Halo, Infamous 2 or Halo......

The exclusives comparison is so true rofl. Alot of lemms stack Halo against every PS3/Wii exclusive its hilarious.
Everyone has different tastes in games but the hands down best value is the PS3. If you don't play games online then you can buy a cheaper model and if you also don't want a blue ray player 360 is better. I love online gaming and the premium experience is the 360.

ps3
you know its better
interesting...why do you dislike the 360 so much?not really i like 360,im more of ps3 fanboy because playstation 1 first video game console i ever had,
hmmm. you do realize there have been consoles since then.i'd say PS3.
but, hey, opinions right?
i'm sure someone after me will attempt to chastise this statement, though.
I have both, so I can put together a general comparison that might help you decide.
The PS3's interface is more customizable, but the 360 has a more streamlined interface.
PS3's online play is free, but not many people use headsets. The 360 is $50 a year for online play, but the online is (once again) more streamlined. Players are generally more verbal on the 360. Additionally, the PS3 requires more updates for their systems than the 360 does. Some games on the PS3 are impacted (sometimes making them unplayable) by these patches.
Feel both controllers for the consoles and decide what is more comfortable. I find the triggers on the PS3 to be really uncomfortable, but it's D-pad is vastly superior to the 360's. If you play fighting games and don't plan on investing in a fight stick, the PS3 controller is much better suited for it. However, I MUCH prefer FPS on the 360.
The PS3's discs can contain a lot more data, which means less disc swapping, plus you can play Blu-Ray movies. However, playing a new game on the system can oftentimes take an hour for your PS3 to install updates for the game. I've never had an update for a 360 game take longer than 5 minutes.
The difference in exclusives for each console is really really small this generation, but there are still a few developers exclusive to each system. If you have a strong gaming PC, I've probably stick to a PS3, since a lot of the games released on the 360 are also on the PC.
The 360 can also run most original Xbox games, while the current PS3 model runs PS1 discs. However, the PS3 offers an online library of many classic Playstation games, which I consider superior to the 360's online library.
Overall, the 360 is easier to use, more streamlined, and less buggy. The PS3 is more powerful and customizable without paying extra for it (it runs more like PC than the 360 does), but it doesn't operate as easily as the 360 does, and a lot of features can be really buggy.
Basically I came up with some things to consider in order to determine which was suitable for me:
-Wifi: Ps3 got wifi, Xbox 360 gotta buy the network adapter unless u get the xbox slim which comes with WIFI
-Online gaming: Playstation network is free, Xboxlive (gold) is pay to play.
-Exclusive games you want to play(eg. ps3 has God of War, MGS,etc while 360 has Halo, Gears of War, etc)
-Graphics,etc: PS3 has a bluray player and it is able to produce better graphics. Whereas it is said that the 360 has better graphics on multiple platform games because developers usually develop the games for the xbox and converts it for the ps3. PS3 exclusive games have great graphics as the developers tend to realise the PS3's true potential. To me graphics is no big deal, and both already considered good.
-Which console your friends own. important if you really want to game with your friends
-Controller Preference
As for the online community, I heard PSNetwork cannot really compare to XboxLive. People say that Xbox Live online gaming experience is good, but of course you get what you pay for.
For me, I've decided on the Xbox 360 as I'm really keen on playing FPS like MW2 and Bad company 2, and Xbox is said to be a great choice for FPS gaming. Seems really appealing playing FPS on Xbox live as well. Attracted to exclusives such as fable 2/3, Halo and GOW as well.
You can watch the "Console Wars" vids on TechnoBuffalo to help in your decision as well. http://cuthut.com/jGY
Man there are good and bad points to each one. I personally prefer the 360 for little things like online community, the dashboard interface, cross game chat, party chat, ESPN 3 is coming to XBL Gold, Last.FM, being able to get DLC while I am playing the game. Like I downloaded all the Borderlands DLC while playing Borderlands, same with Mass Effect 2 DLC. If I check the DLC on a game on the PS3 it quits the game to go to the store then you have to reload the game after you wait for the downloads. Most things on the 360 can be downloaded in the background while you do other things. Most peoples problems with Xbox Live Gold is the $36 a year(amazon.com) but whether people like it or not it is a better all around service and I bet the majority of people would admit that. Even cows. It's just the money they have a problem with and they have every right to feel that way. It is annoying to pay for it but it is undeniably a better overall online service and experience, even if it's minor.
The PS3s library of exclusives is good but overall, counting even the crappy games, the 360 has more games in general. This is not an accurate gauge but when I go to Gamefly and check ALL games for rent including a lot of future titles not released yet, on the PS3 there is 554 and on the 360 there is 705. As another thread claimed, the Arcade choices on XBL seem to be far superior to that of PSN.
The biggest thing the PS3 has is a good Blu Ray player in a $300 console but if you don't care about blu ray movies then its not a big deal. Although sometimes PS3 games get a little extra content due to Blu Rays bigger storage capacity(medal of honor, dead space 2) while the 360 will sometimes get DLC(call of duty) a few months before the PS3 will.
Another thing I dislike about my PS3 is getting a game like Mafia 2 or Red Dead Redemption from Gamefly and then hearing everyone say how it looks better on the 360. This happens more often than not. I hear Bayonetta was pretty useless on the PS3. I just mention this because the majority of games you play on the console you choose will be multiplatform. Not the 25-30 exclusives.
If you like to play online multiplayer or co-op games you may want to consider what consoles your friends may have. Being able to go online and game with your friends is a selling point as well. If you have 10 friends, 8 of which own a PS3 for gaming, you may want to go with a PS3, likewise for the 360 if you have a lot of pals that own a 360.
Forgot WiFi too. Free with the PS3, need a $100 adapter on older 360 models but the ethernet cable offers a solid connection for online gaming. wifi, as always, can and will lag in multiplayer sessions.
PS3 if you want the best exclusive lineup, free online, and better reliability. 360 if you if you want to pay $50 a year to get online and........................uhhhh....I dont know...Halo?
Just get a PS3. It was cool to have a 360 back in 06-07. Its a joke now. Times have changed.
feels like a barnyard with so many cows in here.... ill protest for the 360 (only if you have friends that have it)
halo, gears of war and fable are pretty high profile games that is hard to match from sony. infamous, resistance, killzone, all games that aren't all that cracked up to be. agreed i loved mgs4 but i spend way more time on online games and those tend be better on the 360.
most of the games you will play the most are multiplat, so the best recommendation is to get the system all your friends have.

huh? and this is coming from the person who said "The PS3 CPU was not powerful enough to display high-quality graphics and offer co-op gameplay at the same time" and "especially the number of people who have the ability to chat with a microphone while playing, since Xbox 360 comes with a microphone headset and PS3 doesn't" and lets not forget "Forza Motorsport 3 uses a new graphics engine where cars are made up of 1,000,000 polygons per car"
Seriously? stick to the Xbox fan boy routine..
on topic, I think you should invest in a PC, it has most of the games the PS3 has and can do alot more and you can also get a bluray drive for it.or maybe even a wii.just dont waste your hard earned for a Xbox 360
if your choosing between Xbox360 and PS3, I think you should go for a PS3
