It's a shame most people who bought their console at launch will have run out of their 3 year warranty by the time these hit the shelves.

Still no perma fix since november 2005.

What a travesty.

At least mine was under warrenty when it rroded

Thats what you get for piss poor industrial design, and craftsman-ship.

Actually kudos to nintendo and sony in this department

I've had my 360 for just under two weeks and it just froze about an hour ago while I was playing Mass Effect. Not that it is something of an issue since I am fully covered by Futureshop on everything for 3 years, it is just the being force to stop playing that pisses me the hell off. I was just about to start the last main mission and work my way towards the sex scene and the ending.

wow all 65nm, Only close to a year behind nvidia and ati and 2-3 years behind intel.

This isn't going to fix the problem, there is a cooling flaw with the 360's airflow design. there is no real intake fan which means lots of hot air used to try and cool hot chip, it just doesn't work. There is a mod where a guy put a pc with a 2.8ghz p4 and integrated graphics in a 360 case and he stated it was overheating and he put a fan on the side which kept it under a HOT 60 degress. the 360 has a terrible case design and the overheating problems wont go away unless they redesign it. sure cooler chips help but they aren't why it breaks.

I sincerely doubt they will hit this month, I guess they could do but I would have thought retailers would want to shift all the old models first.

3 core CPU is still 65nm since August 2007. The GPU is very unique and has a embed ram , which is very hard to release it all 65nm. The GPU will be 65nm next month. PC tech is very different from consoles. You can release several new tech gfx cards , but you must completely shift from 90nm to 65nm for consoles. Console is not there for Try-Outs. If you change something you should think consoles previously released.

Unfortunately this won't affect the 20ish million people who've already bought 360's, unless they are trying to buy another one.

ive got the original model Xbox 360 & ive been using it all the time since Feb 2006. so 2 & a half years later its still going. things are never as bad as they seem on an internet forum- since those complaining ALWAYS outnumber those who dont.

90nm CPU is heating up max 50 Celcius degree. 65nm CPU is 30-50 percent cooler than that. BUT 90NM GPU is STILL MAX To 100 CELCIUS DEGREE (BOILING POINT OF WATER) That darn thing will be 65nm too. Got it?

Then you show what you are. Any problems with IQ?

RLOD equals %90 of GPU problems , and That will be %50 cooler now.

Bookmark me. Failure rate will be %1-3 for that full 65nm 360s. Unless sony fanboys make some 360s broke and show them up on youtube

Any problems with writing?

I get it "genius" of course the 65nm puts out less heat and a lower power consumption just like the 65nm cell in the 40gb PS3.

And that will help the millions of 360 users out there, cuz m$ couldn't make a decent 90nm chip

True the lock ups are terrible.

Especially in games like Dead Rising, after doing so much, then having it freeze and lose all your progress.

Though the lock ups get more and more frequent, and eventually it leads to rrod.

I think the worst thing (could be said for this generation as a whole) is the upgrading and changing of hardware as the gen continues.

You buy a Launch 360, then following that different chips, better heatsinks, improved quiet DVD rom drivesa and HDMI ports are added - now the standard hard drive size is increasing.

Sony isnt much better at all, though to their credit they arent as bad as the above. At least Nintendo has stuck to a standard.... so far.

Terrible terrible.

see i only get that with certain games on my older 360s(i have had 3)

Mass Effect(because the damn thing is kind of buggy)
Dead Rising
Bioshock(some slowdowns after long hours of play)

It is usually after like an addicted 6 hour run or something though....so I don't know...Any other games you know that do it or it just happens with all of them.

but in the case of Nintendo a new harddrive is actually needed because of VC files, Wiiware games, and ofcourse Wii games in general

Plus all the channels they keep adding.

Dead Rising, and Gears had lock ups, im sure a few like Full Auto might have aswell.

However after my 360 was repaired the game freezing stopped.... although the disk read errors reappear now and again, particularly with games like GTA IV that require huge amounts of data streaming, and push the dvd rom drive to its limits - which makes the thing sound like a harrier jump jet.

ok Gears of War i never had that problem....because well i guess i never played that game for that many hours....

as for GTA 4 that did happen to me actually....after a while it would stop reading.

I honestly don't get how you build a system designed to play videogames and then have an issue when a user is playing for an extended period of time.....I mean some games run great for god knows how long

Halo 3, BIoshock, PGR 4, Lost Odyssey

but others like ME, Dead Rising, GTA 4, and Gears of War and such have issues.

Honestly how bad did Microsoft F up when designing this thing?

Its bizzare, MS certainly get a big A+ for the console with the worst industrial design, and worst build quality.

When you buy an expensive consumer electronics product you expect quality, instead you get something thats build quality is comparable to a rickety rickshaw of game consoles, even next to a buget last gen console like the Slim PS2.

At least it has hit MS's wallet, let alone their image from the bad publicity - badly. A notification of what not to do next generation.

Hell the PS3 has more crammed into it than the 360... (lets remember it has no external power brick) and yet its far more quiet, and has no technical hiccups and overheating issues.

I guess I should have known, as soon the 'intercooler' hit the market, it was a clear indication the 360s build quality was already going straight to hell.

Ok, sure. Maybe RROD is fixed but what about E74? That's not covered under warranty and the thousands of people who have had this have had to pay for either repair or replacement. But E74 is'nt as publicly known as RROD so no doubt that's why MS don't speak of it. To keep awareness of it down.

Keep in mind that those projected failure rates come from the same people that repeatedly assured us that the original failure rate was ~3% and "within industry standards" even after it was blatantly obvious that the failure rate was much higher.

I never got the RLOD for my 360, its was the first batch to australia as well ;)

Instead its dvd drive went bye bye and until the problem of dying 360 is fixed, I'm not wasting money even with a warranty.

[QUOTE="Indie_Hitman"]Ok, sure. Maybe RROD is fixed but what about E74? That's not covered under warranty and the thousands of people who have had this have had to pay for either repair or replacement. But E74 is'nt as publicly known as RROD so no doubt that's why MS don't speak of it. To keep awareness of it down. -DrRobotnik-

Sure.... its not as publicly known because hardly anyone gets that problem:roll:

I beg to differ. Google it. Alot of people have had the problem

lol

Accept it lemmings, the 360 is cheap, poorly made hardware

SpinoRaptor

NEVER!! Xbox360 has the best and most reliable hardware in history of gaming!! I'm going to go play it now!

*Turns on xbox360, gets RROD*

Oh man not again.

Once upon a time there was a little boy who loved his 360, one day while he was playing Gears Of War, 3 flashing red lights appeared on his console and his 360 froze up.

Then that kid became...

Do you know how i got these scars? Yes the RROD made them lol

I hope this does fix the RRoD. Now all they have to do is stop sharing their games with PS3 and PC so it will have enough exclusives for me to want one.
