THEY USE MASSIVE ALUMINIUM HEATSINKS PLUS TON OF HEAT PIPES LIKE THESE AND REQUIERE REALLY GOOD AIRFLOW

Tell me how the 360's tiny vga cooler is meant to work as well as this?
It has huge cooper fins all the way round with a huge heatpie joining them and a big pure copper base, no console has cooling anywhere as good as this

my pc has better cooling than both, sony has still only used aluminium for most of the cooling, but m$ has really cut it cheap on cooling, doesn't even have a heat spreader on the chips like sony and that gpu cooler looks like its off a buget sub $100 pc graphics card, but if coils are bad how come $400 pc motherboards use them?imprezawrx500
actually the cooling is better widouth heat spreader (if you have a smooth base)
its just a protection feature ( avoid cracking of the core)
plus ALUMINIUM CONDUCTS HEAT FASTER AND COOPER ABSORBS IT BETTER
ITS A PERFECT COMBO ( MOST GOOD COLLING SOLUTION USE THE 2)
JUST LOOK AT THE HUGE DISIPATION AREA PROVIDED BY THE SEVERAL LAYERS OF ALUMINIUM
THE HEAT /VAPOR TRAVELS INSIDE THE COPPER HEAT PIPES THAT PIERCE TRU THE ALU FINS THAT + THE AIRFLOW + MASSIVE LAYERS OF THIN ALUMINIUM FINS DO THE REST OF THE JOB
DO YOU HAVE SPLIT AIR CONDITIONING ? OPEN THE INNER UNIT AND TAKE A LOOK ITS SORT OF "SIMILAR" CONCEPT
ok. i have no bias here. IMHO, both consoles equally suck and are severely overhyped compared to a mid / hig end pc.BUT, thats not the point here, they do have cool games, and so they constitute a valid option for YOUR gaming needs.
360 has a more efficient / dev friendly architecture. unified shaders and ram, good gpu, mediocre cpu...
BUT, they dropped the ball here : thermal design and cooling solution ( they whent cheap )
ps3 has a broken hardware design. Sony and IBM engineers created a frankenstein here, it has power, but it's not efficient nor dev friendly in any way BUT Sony didnt follow M$ cheap / criminal / shameless "cooling solution" ideas , so the overall build quality and thermal design of the ps3 is EXCELLENT

360 HAS PUNY PASSIVE COOLING
PASSIVE GPU COOLING ^ PASSIVE CPU COOLING ^
THOSE TINY COOLERS IN THE BACK ARE SYSTEM COOLERS, ERGO THE DAMAGE ON THE GPU / CPU IS ALREADY ONE , ALL THEY DO IS TRY 2 ATTENUATE THE HEAT PROBLEM
TO MAKE MATTERS EVEN WORST THE GPU HEATSINK IS LOCATED DIRECTLY ABOVE THE DVD DRIVE EFFECTIVELY BLOCKING CIRCULATION OF THE HOT AIR TO THE OUTSIDE.
BUILD QUALITY
360 USE OF COILS + CHEAP ARSE CAPACITORS
VERSUS NO COILS + expensive Conductive Polymer Aluminum Solid Capacitors in the ps3

That is not how it works. Cool air is sucked in from three places on the console. Horizontally, air is sucked in from the top & sides, passing over the heatsinks, and then is expelled out through the back of the console. If there is "increasing heat inside" then all 360s will be red hot all the time and would break down. Mine cools very well - my console is never hot to the touch and the cooling works as it should.
I think what happens is people put their 360s in an enclosure of some type so that the air surrounding the 360 is also warm. This is not condusive to a healthy enviornment for computer electronics.

EXPELLED OUT THROUGH THE BACK IS THE ONLY CORRECT PART OF YOUR ANALYSIS
COOL AIR ITS NOT PASSING TROW THE HEATSINK AT ANY TIME.. INTERNAL HOT AIR IS EXPELLED OUT OF THE CASE. YOU NEED A FRONT COOLER 2 DO THAT.
it would require an inmense amount of RPM FROM THE BACK 2 DO THAT.
the a mount of cool air sucked from the outside is minimun, insufficient and constrained ( specially gpu)

from the outside IT MAY LOOK THAT WHAY. inside is another story. THE outisde air influence is not direct.
It dosnt reach the gpu.It dosnt reach the cpu correctly .outisde air influence its INDIRECT and mostly PERIPHERAL.
3 most are RED HOT ALL THE TIME.
