Get an Xbox 360 for Halo 3, you won't regret it. Two years later, and it's still been entertaining every day. One of this generation's strongest games for value. It doesn't look like PS3 has a game with this strong of value yet.
mD-
the game doesn't entertain me as much as other FPS's I've played like Counter-Strike: Source, Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty 4, or Team Fortress 2. I don't know what it is about Halo 3, but I just don't find the game as fun. Therefore, everyone is different in their preference of games. I know people who think Halo 3 is the best game ever and I know people who have grown tired of it or just think it's over rated.
Also, you said it doesn't look like a PS3 game doesn't have this strong of value yet. What about Killzone 2? The multiplayer in that has a class system where you can earn perks and build up your character (influence by Call of Duty 4). That alone is an incentive to keep playing along with the fun multiplayer action (again this my opinion, but I think people who play the game for a while will agree). Along with the multiplayer you have a very good single player experience, so I think it's safe to say the is a great value. I think that people are looking at the sales of KZ2 too much and then labeling it a failure because other big games are outselling. I think this game will have legs, especially after PS3's price cut.
To each his own, and those are certainly fantastic games! My only problem with Killzone is that it won't stay nearly as fun as with Halo 3 IMO because it has a lot less developer support and less options. I'm not really sure how long the community will last either. Halo has had a dedicated fanbase since Halo:CE and with things like Forge, it's hard to beat on a console.
