Are you serious? How do you coordinate in team-based games? Or socialize with friends that you're playing with?

Jandurin

obviously, you invite 'em 'round to your house for a rousing game of wii golf :3

Nah, just call people up on the phone so that you can decide what settings to use for your round of SSB.

Teufelhuhn

Well for the PC there are those things called keyboards for games requiring strategy, consoles don't have to worry because not much strategy (regarding teamwork) is required in those. And when I play games with friends its either split screen or lan party.

I used to use vent a lot, it took me about a month to realize how overrated talking to people online is. Can't stand it.

No voice chat

Friend Codes

XBL has private chat, voice/text msg, party chat, cross game chat, cross game invites.

Come on, does this even need to be said?

when your actually playing a game, theres not going to be that much difference EVER, there will always be a slight delay do to dinstance, every shooter i've ever played you have to have a slight lead on a moving target, but xbox live has a lot more under the hood. i've never used a wii so i'll just compare my experience with psn. All voice chat is built in through live, cross game, same game, out of game, all of it, part of live, so theres a consistent quality through games vs psn where people sound robotic in cod and in other games they sound fine. Matchmaking is also built in, so with truelive skill dev's have the option to just have a ranked list at there fingertips without using much code to add it, connections are better on 360, when i say connections i don't mean while connected just the act of connecting, people drop its easier to switch hosts, or just get connected, i've hit points with my ps3 when i had a lot of traffic on my network or i was at school, the ability to get into a game dropped significanlty where my 360 really came through shining, not that it was perfect, but the 8/10 attempts at joining a game were successfull, where on my ps3, 2/10 were successfull. I'd say 360's netcode is probably the most efficient with dedicated servers for chat and matchmaking, make it worth the extra fee, its not very noticable in game though...

wow fail, i actually find it easier to strategize on consoles, as mainly a solo onliner, meaning i don't have a bunch of friends i always play with, getting in and able to easily talk with people its alot easier then on PC. thats why i kinda gave up pc gaming, i'd just join a game and just start shooting everyone, the only time i knew what people were talking about was while waiting to respawn. if i had a bunch of regulars though (which is completely possible on 360 too) then its no different then strategizing on consoles.

and considering the demographic for 360/ps3, people need to stop talking about 11 yo's when the majority of people you play with are not, and every now and then listening to a kid cry online is f'ing awesome,

So stopping whatever you're doing for 10-15 seconds to type out a message is somehow superior to just saying it?

...

Yes, because why would you ever need strategy and teamwork for a common gametype like CTF. Everybody running around doing their own thing works so much better.

Well I can imagine how it would be hard to have friends on the Internet when you can't actually chat with them.

Dont know what games your playing but it always feels a little creepy to be the only adult on the map when playing halo 3. They might not be 11 year olds but way to many kids whining about geometry homework and parents. I just don't wanna hear that stuff.

It certainly isn't the actual gameplay that people boast about when hyping Live... it's the integration and non gaming functions. Gameplay and lag are the same.

actually i've been playing halo 3 nonstop and i've met a whole 2 kids, several guys my age, and most other people aren't very talkative, when i say nonstop i mean 2 weeks leading up to odst, till today

edit: on something slightly related, it might have alot to do with rank and play list, i've been playing team slayer with the rank of 25 ish, i think the undesirable team mates have been weeded out by then.

All I got out of the 1st paragraph was.....

Sometimes a Ferrari drives at 30mph, and sometimes a Pontiac Sunfire drives at 30mph, therefore they are exactly the same.

whatisazerg

I love you.... I want your babies.....

But seriously, this dude hit the nail on the head.

[QUOTE="shoryuken_"]

the kind of lag that Super Smash Bros. Brawl has.

Jandurin
that lag killed the game :( Where the game would actually STOP moving. a comparable online experience can be found with the XBLA title: splosion man. Horrid horrid lag.

splosion man had online? i thought it was just a single player game. I certainly never experienced frame rate drops in splosion man..
