You can tell who owns a DS and who does not from these comments, of course some of this is just hating too. Any veteran ds player knows that the camera could be controlled by the toch screen. Second analog is a waste of plastic. On Topic, RE looks great and so does Oot, wanna see it in 3DThe lack of a second thumbstick/nub is already starting to show in the gameplay
The 3DS could have really been great too :(

Again you have to dumb down the games because of it
I wished they added two that way we'd be able to control and hit various buttons, now we're going to have to tap or slide and have auto lock on, I mean with two you could have control options so the grandmother and the not grandmother could play
The 3DS is made 100% for Nana and anyone else who doesn't mind less options

The DS didn't even have one analog stick and it didn't hamper any game I've played. The touch screen is supperior for precise control of the camera IMO.The lack of a second thumbstick/nub is already starting to show in the gameplay

people have no idea what they are taking about. the touch screen is way better then the slid pad for aiming . It will not be like the psp .

And we have a winner
I don't get it, Dementium plays fine with the touch screen. It just took longer to get used to. I'm pretty sure it didn't have auto aim or lock on, and I was able to shoot while moving. The controls were funky at first but after the first hour you get used to it.

What the hell is that supposed to prove? The touch panel is still an ample substitute (read: supperior) for a second analog stick. If it's not implemented then it's the devs fault for not making use of it: the console design is not to blame.[QUOTE="Yangire"]then that means ..more auto aim/lock..not moving while shooting, horrid camera and controls. No extra analog stick means less shooters, so I'm fine without it.

Just assign moving to the directional pad and the camera to the analog stick and I'll be fine with the controls. Anyways, if the controls hinder action oriented games like the DS I'll be happy as that's not what I want the system to have.

I guess its not AS comfortable. Opinion but I agree, still though its comfortable enough, for the much improved accuracy. Its a dev choice to not use the touch screen for one, its not the hardware. AND AGAIN! Have you played a RE game before...more importantly 4? You couldnt move and shoot in that game either. You couldnt move the camear in that game either. Its locked at behind the shoulder. Its apart of the experience. There is a reason that game won mad awards. Your blaming games for not moving away from there norms? Really?
Have you ever played the DS? I imagine they would implement control schemes similar to that, where certain buttons/commands are mapped on the touchscreen. How do you use any buttons while using the touch screen?

▲ 3D looks horrible for a game like Oot. Also, mfw 14 years after the release of Oot, it finally gets a remake and yet you still have no control for the camera. Enjoy Z targeting everytime. ▲

And furthermore, they would have to re-design the gameplay for a second analog stick and that would mean making a brand new game from the ground up.Am I the only one who thinks the 3DS shouldn't have a second analog if they are gonna have a touch screen?nintendoboy16
No I agree pretty much. Besides, I wouldnt use the second analog stick in shooter, I would still use the touch screen as it is far more precise, like motion and PC, rather then dual analog trash :P.
3DS looks AMAZING. I cannot wait for it to come out in NA. For some reason the 3DS gives me the good vibe that the N64 gave me :).

when have you been able to to move and shoot in Resident Evil anyway? consoles have 2 analog sticks and still cant move and shoot with that.
oh memories. i remeber initally using that for the hunters demo. worker pretty well but having to strap it on....im too lazy. i managed to come up with a setup using the stylus that made it comfortable and very accurate. anywho lookin ace....i just hope its under 250 euro at launch. as for the second stick....if you want a second stick then get an open pandora. the touch screen is at least as good as, if not better than, an analogue stick in most games. in FPSs it also makes a mockery of sticks/nubbins. now bring on monster hunter 3DS....*drools*.
anybody remember this on the ds?

that mechanic is a design decision by the devs not a symptom of control limitations. the GC and PS2 had 2 sticks and the devs used it. its a RE thing...clunky controls has always been one of their choices with regard to hightening tension...even as far back as RE1. using the stick and touch screen a dev could easily implement run and gun gameplay. ref any FPS on the DS as an example.Re; the touchscreen as a second analog. it was quite obvious in the gameplay videos I watched (Oot and RE) that the touch screen was certainly not being used for any sort of control. In OoT it was there for inventory; for RE it seemed to be there solely to tell you what the other controls are.
In other words, both of these games played exactly like a PSP game.

Just curious but what happens if you're left handed like me? I've not played the DS much but if I'm using the stylus with my left hand how would I move? I'd imagine the face buttons as theres no analog stick on the right side but that seems rather awkward to me.
OOT controls just like the original and RE seems to control almost like RE4. zelda OOT plays perfect without camera control, it did on the N64 The Camera is fixed behind the character in Resident Evil like that on the PS3 and 360 Playing FPS game's sucks on PSP because you have to use the buttons to aim which is not accurate, on DS the touch screen is better than using a mouse go play metroid hunters and you'll seeRe; the touchscreen as a second analog. it was quite obvious in the gameplay videos I watched (Oot and RE) that the touch screen was certainly not being used for any sort of control. Am I the only one who thinks the 3DS shouldn't have a second analog if they are gonna have a touch screen?nintendoboy16I think I see a small problem with that.. The very fact that the top screen will be used to move and visually see your character to utilize the 3D effect means that the bottom screen the majority of the time is going to be used for menus, maps, and whatever. Am I the only one that sees this potential flaw because I don't think the bottom screen has the 3D effect or does it?

ummm...I am confused how that is really an argument against what he said. the bottom screen is touch only and the top 3D only. so you can use the bottom screen at any time as an uber precise joystick haha.
