[QUOTE="Silenthps"]I don't think there's one genre where the 360 controller is best in.... FPS/TPS games - Wiimote RTS games - WiiU pad RPG games - WiiU pad Sports games - Probably WiiU again Racing games - Racing wheel Fighting games - anything other than 360 controller idk maybe it's good for action-adventure? Even then I bet the DualShock 3 is betterSilenthps

I like that you're assuming the Wii U pad would be best at certain genres without actual experience...

And for FPS/TPS games? Please. I'd take the 360 pad over the Wiimote any day.

What makes you assume I don't have actual experience? Plus, the WiiUpad is just an oversized ds, if you've played touchpad games of those genre's you'd know they're better than a 360 controller for them. And the wiimote utterly destroys the 360 pad for FPS/TPS games. But if you like slow inaccurate shooting then be my guest.

So you've actually used the Wii U pad long enough with a variety of different games to declare that it's the best for certain genres?

And no. The 360 gamepad is far more responsive and easy to use than the Wiimote in my experience. Every time I played a game like Goldeneye on the Wii, I found myself just wanting to switch back to a standard controller, even if the pointer can possibly be slightly more accurate.

If you're talking ideal controllers then just supe up a gamecube controller. It had it's buttons and analogues in the right places as well as the most comfortable design for my long fingers

Well, I'll certainly have to give that a shot.

And eww... I would never use a 360 controller on a srs PC FPS like Counter Strike. A Wii remote...maybe. I'll have to get myself a little bluetooth dongle for my PC and try it out.

If you look at it objectively, the Dualshock is FACTUALLY better.

Less Deadzone.

Pressure sensitive face buttons.

Rechargeable out of the box.

Sixaxis support.

Vastly superior D-Pad.

Way more flexible in terms of compatibility for different genres.

The Dualshock wins.

Blabadon

People who actually prefer the dualshock must have small hands, therefore small dicks. The 360 controller is the closest thing to perfection we have, anyone who says otherwise is a pus$y

These people are what's wrong with the world.

The difference is: one actually used some fact, the other one's just pure butthurt & ignorant.

I prefer the 360 controller because it's more comfortable.

Now if only the d pad didn't suck.

RR360DD

So much butthurt in this post!

Sorry, but ergonomically the 360 pad is better than the dualshock, and thats fact, not opinion. Thats what matters most.

People saying sixaxis is a plus for the dualshock .... biggest waste of time ever. The triggers are inferior on the dualshock, the stick layout. Also, the convex thumbsticks means your thumbs slip more than with the concave thumbsticks on the 360 pad.

The ONLY thing the dualshock has over the 360 pad is the Dpad, which is barely in the vast majority of games today. Even build quality, the 360 wins because the dualshock is built of out cheaper plastic and feels lighters in the hand.

Maybe you should of posted this in the first place instead of just spouting idiotic and butthurt nonsense. Next time you should actually use some form of intelligence before posting in a thread and then you wont come across as a immature moron.

Well, I opened up the wireless DS3 of my PS3. As soon as I opened it, bits of what used to be a tiny plastic ring fell out. I imagine it's part of the right trigger mechanism. The right trigger doesn't spring back all the way forward like it used to. But, at least I can still throw grenades with it in Uncharted 2.

Looking at the interior of the DS3, I'm even more convinced the 360 controller is more robust with heavy duty components. I'll be replacing my Sony DS3 with a 3rd-party wireless, possible a wireless Power A with six-axis support.

Did enhancements for the 360 Slim controller D-Pad make it to the standalone controllers? I'm using a wired 360 controller (bought last year) dated 2010 and the D-Pad hasn't been a problem yet.

So I see...

opinion

opinion

opinion

moot point that applies to every standard controller since last gen, and

vague opinion

Anyways its a fine controller. As long as I don't have to use the Dpad heavily in a game then it works.

I still prefer the dpad, face buttons, stick layout and overall form factor of the DS3. All I want from the 360 pad is the concave analog tips.

Its kind of funny that this is an article on their site. Random posters here on SW make better arguments than this.

ionusX

mmhmm also the 360 controller is such a joke vs kieyboard & mouse omg lol

it would be best to move everyone the keys & mice. more buttons, familiar design, standardized control schemes and hotkeys

hotkeys can be incredibly powerful. consoles dun have hotkeys. they have cold barren 4-figure buttons and archaic d-pads

yep and thus platformers, racing games, hell pretty much any game besides fps, rts and point and click games will play like s*** in that world.

Dpad, yes. Trigger pinches? lolwat? Trigger only is for your index finger, all your other fingers aren't even close to the triggers. Play & Charge kit is $10-20. lol. No pressure buttons, true. But what games even use that? Do even PS3 exclusive games ever use that?

The ring fingers placed under the area of the triggers does pinch, it's not unheard off. I guess you don't play enough to get what I meant without going into further detail.

If we're going to argue sale prices, we could be here all day. Why not argue currency too to min-max the price to your advantage? MSRP or bust.

Same answer goes for weirdbeard there. I know how much it costs, I actually crossed borders to pick up a wired 360 controller because the play & charge kit is simply too expensive for my liking. And the thing is, if you get one, you're probably going to get a backup set too for swapping and/or 2nd controller.

 Paying MSRP for things.

But even taking the MSRP into account, where the hell do you live that battery packs for the 360 cost $30 - $70 each? :?

D-pad

Size

Trigger buttons pinches your ring fingers

Extra $30 for charge pack (totaling up to $70-100 each)

Face buttons have no varying inputs depending on pressure applied (all or none)

Gxgear

Dpad, yes. Trigger pinches? lolwat? Trigger only is for your index finger, all your other fingers aren't even close to the triggers. Play & Charge kit is $10-20. lol. No pressure buttons, true. But what games even use that? Do even PS3 exclusive games ever use that?

It seems to me it's easier to pinch your fingers with the DS3. Look at the design of the triggers. There's that overhang on the trigger front. You're more likely to pinch yourself where the trigger front plate (bottom) meets the controller chassis.

I'm trying to pinch myself with the triggers on the 360 controller. Unless I have extremely flabby skin, it's not going to happen.

$30 would be the MSRP in Canada, controller could get as high as $70 if they're themed. I'm sure there's price discerpencies, but there's no need for 3 people to get all defensive and jump down my throat.

That's not exactly what I meant. You see how the back of the trigger buttons extend much lower for the 360 controller? Because of the ergonomics of it (and maybe my tiny hands), you rest the index fingers on the triggers and the middle (to clarify from before)fingers are tucked underneath. The insides of my middlefingers are pushed against the back of the part of the case that covers the triggers, and after prolonged used you can feel the "pinch" (I don't mean your skin getting caught in it).

I don't want to make this into a DS3/360 controller thing, and maybe people with bigger hands do get pinched with the smaller form, but since you brought it up I'll try and explain it. When I hold the DS3 at rest, the index fingers are on R1/L1, or the bumpers, if you will. The middle fingers rest naturally on the R2/L2 (triggers), and this leaves a lot more room for the rest of the fingers.

TL: DR version- I have to accomodate an extra finger on each side when holding the 360 controller in its natural position.

Edit: Bonkspot.

We're hardly being defensive when you make a claim like that, which seems odd, especially since Amazon Canada seems to have the same or at least similar prices as the US store and I'm seeing a two pack of batteries for $20 and controllers for $40, the same price we pay in the US.

But whatever, different sensibilities in regards to purchasing console accessories I guess.

You mean this? Not actually sold by Amazon:http://www.amazon.ca/Xbox-360-Play-Charge-Kit/dp/B000OYMYZQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1345931025&sr=8-1

Major retailers in Canada, all $29.99Best BuyFutureshopEBGames/Gamestop

Amazon.ca is completely rubbish, the shipping pushes the 3rd party seller price to almost retail, unlike in US where you can get free shipping with Amazon Prime(?).

US (and NA to a lesser extend) have it good, the rest of the world doesn't even come close in terms of bargains. I just purchased an arcade stick recently, and you can't imagine how much harder it is just because I live a couple miles north of the border.

moot point that applies to every standard controller since last gen, and

vague opinion

Anyways its a fine controller. As long as I don't have to use the Dpad heavily in a game then it works.

I still prefer the dpad, face buttons, stick layout and overall form factor of the DS3. All I want from the 360 pad is the concave analog tips.

WilliamRLBaker

lol wow your just a big brainless moron aren't you? Any one else read an instance any at all in the article where it was said this is a fact? I certainly didn't.

Wow dont take it personal man.

Of course he didn't head the article with "5 Facts On Why Every Controller Should be like the Xbox 360 Controller", but he did say 5 reasons and if you go on to read the article (without bias har, har, har) you might actually see that he is trying to allude to.

"perfect joystick layout"

"just the right size"

"feels just right" while the options are just a "clunky piece of plastic".

Then in point four he goes on to list something that is common among standard controllers.

In his 5th "point" he goes onto some nonsense about how you can precisely control your character and "If you go left your character will actually go left." as if this is something that only works with a 360 controller.

So way to go calling me the brainless moron while giving the idiot that wrote this POS article a free pass.

I guarantee if someone would have wrote the same exact article about the Dual Shock you would have gone to town on how much of an idiot that individual would have been. AND RIGHTFULLY SO!

So please, take off the blinders man.

Neither's better tbh, it's just which ever you use more. If i play with 360 controller for a few days i become accustom to it again and i'm fine, it's just the initial 2 hours where everything feels wierd. For me it's mainly the dead zones on the sticks, they're smaller on the PS3 so switching to the 360 makes it feel like there's a lag on what i'm trying to do which is frustrating.

The duelshock is probably the biggest reason i dont play my ps3 as much... im pretty sure the guy with the smallest penis in the world invented that turd or a controller. Its hand cramp city, analog placement made sense two generations ago when analog was first introduced on ps1, now its just sad. The 360 controller is king this gen, no doubt and the wiimote is a coat hanger abortion of a design.

I've said this before and I'll continue to say this, what makes the 360 controller great isn't the damn analog sticks placement, its the shape the controller. The analogs could both be on the bottom of the 360 controller and it would make no complete difference in how good the controller is to use. I could argue that the dualshock is better for shooters than the 360 controller simply based on the analog placement and the mentality of playing a shooter with a controller. You could argue that certain designs are better at certain games like fighters, racing games etc.

The 360 and gamecube were probably my favorite controllers.

RageQuitter69

Gamecube, are you crazy, the controller was a mess. At least you didn't say Nintendo 64 controller

I'm not saying its perfect, but it was the most comfortable to old of all controllers I've ever handled. The sticks could have been improved, the button layout changed slightly so it follows the SNES button design. Better shoulder buttons to. The shape though, the shape of it was amazing.

The Dualshock sucks. I'm crossing my fingers that Sony finally changes the design with the PS4 (probably not going to happen though).
