Hey, I'm stuck between 2 choices at the moment. I can either get a 50" Pioneer Kuro Plasma (btw this is the best TV on the market, nothing beats Pioneer Kuro) or a $2000 Gaming Computer (with a 27" Dell 1920x1200 monitor).

It really comes down to console gaming vs pc gaming, where the former is also backed up by the features of watching a TV, movies, etc.

I already have an Xbox 360, so it really comes down to...will Fallout 3 be better on the PC or Xbox? What about Call of Duty, etc. Is Crysis really worth it for the PC? What about Fable 2 for Xbox 360 (as well as Metal Gear Solid for PS3). Or The Witcher for PC?

It's really hard deciding imo and so I thought I might as well create this thread to recieve input! Thanks

(I can have Xbox 360+PS3 for both, but for one of them I'll also have PC Gaming though on a smaller screen)

Fallout 3 will be better on the PC, there really is no question about that.....most multiplats tend to be better on the PC, unless of course they are rush ports.

The Kuros are TVs that are beyond ANYTHING, NOBODY comes near these guys when it comes to be being the, unfortunately, they sell like crap too and theyve dropped out the business.

Either way, all those hidden features really matter for films, yeah youre going to get good response times, accurate colours and deep blacks, but everything else is going to be extra. If you go Samsung and spend a nice amount youll get a fantastic TV. Again, Sony are better in LCD, but those features most people wouldnt notice

So you guys would go for the TV and ditch the PC, as in missing out on games like Crysis, The Witcher, etc?

mmm, I would go with kuro. better yet, listen to what firstdiscovery suggested. Although Kuro's are Superior to other brands, I don't think you'll notice that big of a difference. So you're better off if you buy a samsung's or a panasonic's, save some money and buy a gaming PC later on.

Buy a Samsung or Sony, save some cash, then get a gaming PC and hook it up the TV. Screw the 27" Dell.

I'd probably go for the computer and not because of the games but because it's a frikkin computer. I mean the endless posibilities you can do with a computer far surpasses a tv. But 2000 does sound a bit pricey. Are you getting a prebuilt?

Wow, tough choice man. I can't imagine being limited to gaming only on consoles though, a gaming PC is absolutely essential :P

The 50" Pioneer Kuro is definitely a nice TV, it has the best blacks and overall picture (+ single pane) of any set I've seen. I was considering getting that one, in fact my brother-in-law did. However, I instead chose the 58" Panasonic VIERA over it because of size (obviously), but my conclusion on the visual quality was that the difference was only going to appreciable when the two sets are within comparison distance, the Panasonic has a very nice display as well! When I visit my bro-in-law's, it confirms I made the right decision.

At this point, especially if you're really into movies, I'd say go for the TV...and make it the Kuro if it's picture is really the most critical aspect of your HDTV decision.

Forget the 50'' and spend $800 and build yourself a good top of the line pc. Add in a couple of hundred for a monitor and you have a great setup that will last you. Then take that $1000 you have left and use it for something else or buy a tv.

Or maybe build a budget rig and go for a Bravia or something

To be honest, you won't get a whole lot out of a 1080p TV for gaming considering most console games run at a native 720p (Some below).

I would get a decent gaming rig and a different TV.

You can get a Pioneer Kuro for $2500 from amazon.com or by getting a good deal (never buy TVs from local bestbuys, etc, overpriced). Picture quality is amazing and best on the market right now.

For those suggesting hooking a comp to a TV, well, the point of a comp is that it also has higher resolution/graphics, and using a low resolution TV won't do it justice...

If I get a comp I would of course buy parts online from www.ncix.ca (Canadians don't get newegg), but yah...real tough decision. :(

STOP, DON'T GET THE KURO...INSTEAD, INVEST IN A SONY XBR8.

LOOK HERE

While the plasma is great, LCDs are a far better choice if you are going to be gaming. Then later on, when you do get that gaming PC, your XBR will be able to double as a monitor.
