In Denmark its not unusual to find games at £63-64 in the stores, the dualshock 3 controller costs the same.

What annoys me the most about CoD MW2 is the fact that we can expect a 6 hour campaign, a small upgrade in the graphic department and the same multiplayer all over again, and yet they are raising the price.

I really wonder how long this can go on.

I'm sorry for complaining dude, this makes me feel like a selfish ****.

I've started buying my games at www.shopto.net or www.gameplay.co.uk I'll save atleast 1/3 of the price compared to Denmark. I'm thinking of preordering both Demons Souls and Dragon Age at www.gamestop.com since the price of the collectors edition doesn't even reach the high price of the regular version in Denmark =/

Maybe we could create a thread listing the alternatives to activision titles?
I have to eat now though, might look into it later, or maybe one of You would like to.

Why no announcement for America? Will the price remain the same here?

sexy_robot_man

Yeah no one is going to pay more than 60 bucks for a game. That's already ridiculous and they better not even think about raising it any higher next gen.

I already do :D 25£ versus 50€ for games? I'll take the 25£.

I do to :D.I get most of my games from Play.com and Amazon.co.uk and I've saved alot money that way.

I'm "only" going to get Brutal Legend, Borderlands, Bioshock 2, Dragon, possibly Splinter Cell and I don't see how I should even have time for or care about MW2.

I'll just preorder it from somwhere for 45, I don't mind paying the extra 5, even though I'd rather not, just because I know I'll play this game a hell of a lot more than some other full price games I've bought.

Probably.....it opnly ever seems like the Eu getting the rougth edge of the deal despite selling more consoles than the US usually by the time a generation is up.

And I don't see how they cite shipping costs as an expense, Activision has a disc printing factory in the UK for games being released in the Eu. It would be even worse if Ubisoft announced a similar increase in price considering there French.

So thats like €75- €80? I guess i won't be buying this game then

micky4889
No, the pound is nowhere near that much anymore. 55pounds is around 60euros. But I hope that the high price in the UK doesn't mean we all get to pay a higher price. That would suck and they'll loose at least one customer (me).

Recession people! £40 is still way to expensive IMO, new DVD movies only cast around £15, usually lower and Blu-Ray movies are only £15-£25 You could buy the 3 top selling Blu-ray movies at play.com for that price, and one of those is the Band of Brothers Box set!!! (Man I'm buying that actually, good find). This is just stupid, £40 was stupid IMO.

I would never have bought MW if there hadn't been a PC version, the game was £45 for over 12 months, they even had the nerve to sell it at £40 pre-owned (the stores need a good kick in the nuts too)

Activision has confirmed that the eagerly-awaited Modern Warfare 2 will carry a hefty RRP of £54.99 - and retailers have been warned that other publishers are likely to follow suit.

cant blame them, people will buy it regardless. no matter the price, people will pay anything to play the next installment of CoD, same applies to Halo.

The only difference between CoD4 and CoD:MW2, is the name.

ORIGIN

xxThyLordxx

Are you sure that's not for the "Hardened Edition" of the game?

How about the people that are going buy it hold off a day or two. I'd like to see GTA 4 still hold the record for first day sells then give Activision the satisfaction.

I'm not against Activision's games, but how they are exploiting the gamers with DLC cost.

Guys just boycot them.
Buy it used or rent it or 'arrrrrrrrrr.

Unfortunately that would only be a very small amount of people doing this and it will still ultimately sell millions. Just for activison having the balls to charge $60 for the pc version, ill be doing your last option.

Wow.... The funny thing is MW2 isn't even a must have game yet... We don't know about anything that it has that's over the top compared to MW1. It's certain that CoD4 fanboys will be running to buy this game regardless of how much it's over priced. For me, I'll wait or just won't buy it...

I will not try to judge and wait see what they will have to offer, but right now I just see a Call of Duty 5 Mod. I will most likely get it on PC because MW had all the maps and didn't make a map pack like they did for the consoles.

Oh well, welcome to the rest of the Europe I guess... we've had to pay over 90 USD for games for years.

thankfully i've got a huge list of games to play .. i'm so far behind current releases

a few years ago i had the time to keep up, and so would preorder every game and play it on release the way things are now, i can buy newer games for cheaper prices, normally brand new, sometimes pre-owned .. plus, i get to play games after the hype has died down

so i'm happy waiting for this game's price to drop to £20-30 before buying it .. £55 is just too much for me

akif22
Good luck with that. Its only taken MW almost 2 years before we've seen any sort of drop from £40

....thats just.....wow. Good thing i dont buy Activision games but i can see the effect this could have on other Greedy publishers (ubisoft). We wasted so much time blaming companies like Nintendo and Valve that Activision crept up on us and are hurting gaming too much (note i didnt say killing).

Guys, stand up for the gamers and boycott this game this fall. If you REALLY need your CoD fix then buy it used. You'd probably only have to wait a week longer.

Well besides MW2 another FPS I was looking forward to was MAG but it looks like its been delayed to 2010 :(

The only game that is worth the £54.99 price tag is Fallout 3 GOTY edition, not a sequel (MW2) that is pretty much the same as the last one.

You're quite welcome. Spread the word. If gamers throughout the rest of the EU start buying games in the UK instead of their own countries, the retailers in the countries affected by this will be forced to utilise more competitive pricing which is a good thing for European gamers.

That's crazy. I'm from the U.S. and I'm pretty sure that if the game is released for anything above $65 for the standard edition nobody would buy it. These clowns are foolish.

Actually, one of my old favorite retail stores went out of business earlier this year. I felt kinda bad about, since I only found about it 4 months later since I hadn't visited the store. :(

But what can ya do, games are just much cheaper to buy from UK..
