[QUOTE="lilnazar"]Counter Strike is a good game, but so is Killzone. And again, I have yet to see a PC FPS exclusive that has the same graphics, movement feel as Killzone 2.lilnazar

Same graphics and movement speed of Killzone 2?

No thank you.

Lol, then enjoy playing that CoD-like Red Orchestra.

Killzone is way more like COD than Red Orchestra.

The point is they aren't on the PC and gamers want to play them. They don't all need to be on one console. Many gamers have multiple consoles.

blackace

And multiple console cost far more than that PC...

So what. If they can afford it and want to play those games that are NOT ON THE PC, that's their business. Hermits build powerful PC Rigs to play PC exclusives not on consoles. That's their choice. Consoles don't have to be upgraded for like 7-10yrs. So it's still a good investment. Many gamers wait for console price drops anyways, so getting a 360 and PS3 not is like less then $600. ;)

I'm a console gamer, too. I have an XBox One Day One edition preordered. I can't find a launch PS4 at local stores. But, the point of this thread was to shutup the people that were accusing me of lying about building my PC with a 3.38 TFLOP GPU for just $500. If you shop the sales, building a PC that is far more powerful than consoles isn't very hard...

Better than your average cheap build, but it still lacks a monitor and those sale prices aren't always going to be around. Mail in rebates are also never the best.

The processor is also a bit on the weaker end and the GPU will only last about 2 years before you have to significantly turn down settings. You also don't need a DVD drive anymore.

Also the copy of Windows 8 should be $99. Your link is sketchy.

I still stick to my beliefs that if you're going to get into PC gaming the initial cost will be much higher than console gaming. In the long run you can save a lot of money with PC gaming. It evens out in the end.

Well i think he's trying to show that a gaming PC does not need to be expensive.  But you guys are listing games that would require you to spend upwards of like $1500 on systems not counting paying for online

No he's trying to justify why gamers should get a cheaper PC over a game console. Like I said, it's not about the hardware, as it is about the games. Not everyone is going to buy multiple systems. There are gamers who will just buy a PS3 or a 360 for less then $350.

Building a PC with the best components wasn't the goal. Obviously an i5-4670K, 7970 / 780, Enermax PSU, etc would be much better, but they're also much more expensive...

It's not that bad really... I'd personally opt to spend more on some different parts... but the RAM, CPU & GPU are all fine.

The problem is... that it might struggle to run games that the PS4 gets towards the end of the generation.

U seem mad that pc is better than consoles.

GuNsbl4ziN

You seem mad that no one cares and would rather play exclusives console games then mutliplat PC games. ;) :P

Playing games have never really been about spec or power. It's always been about gameplay and fun.

You never needed a PC as powerful as what he listed to play great games like Tetris, M.U.L.E. Deluxe Asteroid, Marble Madness or Zelda.

Having a more powerful system doesn't make games on a less powerful sysetm, less fun. ;)

System wars would beg to differ.

Yeah, well system wars isn't part of reality unfortunately.

That might be true but what's the point of next gen consoles then?

More exclusives. New Ips. Better games. Hopefully more innovative games and controllers.

If you're going to build a gaming PC, you might as well build the best you can afford so that it at least has a 5-6yrs life. I seriously wouldn't build one cheaply.

Ok, I understand that, but what you built would need to be upgraded within 2-3yrs, which would cost even more money. With the new Next Gen consoles, we won't see any new ones for at least 6-7yrs from now. Most serious PC gamers would rather fork over $800-$1000 and build a rig that will last 5-6yrs at least.

The truth is simple.

No matter how powerful a PC is, there are a TON of AAA games and franchises that the PC will never have.

Meanwhile, the PC has maybe a handful of original, AAA, PC-only exclusives.

The only thing the PC has going for it is modding and maxed-out multiplats. But is that good enough to ignore all the awesome games on consoles?

Answer - HELL NO.

But if it makes Hermits happy, then yes, your PCs can push more TFLOPs. Have fun playing with benchmarking programs generating arbitrary numbers.

GTA5 > every PC game made to date and it's running at 30fps at 720p on 7 year old hardware. It's got pop-in, jaggies, severe framerate dips at times... and it's STILL looking like GOTY because it's THAT good and no PC game other than maybe the GTA4 port with modding comes close.

If you guys are lucky, Rockstar might port GTA5 to PC in a year or two too!

Movement and recoil? C'mon now. You gotta be kidding.

edidili

Why? Killzone 2 has an awesome feel of movement and recoil. But of course you stuck up Hermits don't like the game, because it's Killzone.

Really slow gameplay. Gunplay that relies too much on scopes, zooming in. Comparing it with CS for example is quite dull both in movements and recoil. Especially when compared for accuracy needed. Doesn't rely on headshots as much as CS, is more of a "shoot in that general direction" kind of game.

Except Killzone doesn't rely on scopes and zooming in.

On topic: Most of us console gamers aren't concerned with having more raw power. We're concerned about the exclusives on said consoles.

Yes it is. Playing PC games on an HDTV is a pain. Unless your HDTV is set up on a desk so you could use it like a monitor it's not worth. Trying to convert a home entertainment system with a couch and chair into something suitable to play PC games is not worth it.

A monitor is as cheap as $150 and it's going to be 100x better than any HDTV setup.

Hunching over a coffee table while sitting 5+ feet back from your screen is not how you play PC games. PC games are built for people sitting at a desk. Text is smaller, FoVs are higher, and user interfaces are usually filled with more information. You can always tell when a game is a port of a console game by just looking at the interface.

Last time I checked we don't play graphics alone. If you're buying a console for graphics you're doing it wrong. This entire thread is built on the assumption that people buy consoles to play the best looking games out there. They don't.

XBox/PS4 with 10 games and some other things like maybe an extra controller, headset or PSN+/Gold will come to around £1000. If you mostly only bought PC games through humble bundle + Steam sales you will not spend much money on games at all and even brand new pc exclusives are generally at least £10 cheaper than console games

$575 Console Killer PC Wasdie

So PC gaming more expensive confirmed ?

Nah, I could've put in a GPU equivalent to what's in consoles for much cheaper. The 7950 is much better than what the PS4 and XB1 are using...

Last time I checked we don't play graphics alone. If you're buying a console for graphics you're doing it wrong. This entire thread is built on the assumption that people buy consoles to play the best looking games out there. They don't.

Yeah, I don't either. I use my consoles for the exclusives. I use my PC for multiplats and multiplayer...

Then you're limiting yourself to indie games and sales while waiting for new games to come down in price.

It's all about tradeoffs. I find PC gaming is better value despite being more expensive. You get way more for your money.

Yes! I wish people would stop making these kinds of threads.  PC gaming is expensive

Yes it is. Playing PC games on an HDTV is a pain. Unless your HDTV is set up on a desk so you could use it like a monitor it's not worth.

Wasdie

Not necessarily. My 37" 1080p HDTV in my room has constantly been used as my personal bedroom computer monitor for over 3 years now. All you need to make it work is a light-weight folding table(or something similar) that you can put the keyboard/mouse on. If you have wireless kb/m, it's even better. Hell, I'm laying in my bed comfortably under the covers resting on the pillow RIGHT NOW and I have everything I need right here at my disposal and can see the screen great. It's almost not possible to be any more comfortable while on the computer than I am right now. I even have my computer hooked up to my 7.1ch Pioneer Surround Sound a/v receiver so I have great video and even better audio.

I would never go back to using a regular little monitor and having to hunch over at a desk to see the screen good. I can lay in bed like I am now, or I can chill back in my recliner with the keyboard on my lap or on the folding table and use it like a desk and I can see everything on the screen perfect no matter where I am in my room. And games just look 100x better on this TV than they do most regular little "computer monitors". I don't see any cons to using this TV as my monitor. I fell in love with the setup the day I came up with the idea to hook it up.

Of course but it's still possible to game on PC spending very little money in comparison to consoles and in the long run PC gaming is certainly cheaper.

[QUOTE="LA-Nighthawk"]It still needs to be upgraded while consoles don't. Snugenz

or it might not be

It might not run 8 year old games as well as optimized console versions but it'll still run em.

Can the mid-range pc from 8 years ago run crysis 3? or rome something something, probably 1 fps :D

[QUOTE="superclocked"][QUOTE="Messiahbolical-"]lol @ $47 for Windows 8. That has to be the most sketchy website I've ever seen. If you're stupid enough to give them your credit card info, you'll deserve any impending identity theft you ensue.

Like I said, I can't vouch for that particular site. But, I've used paypal with a similar site that gave me Windows 7 64 for $35, and I didn't have a single issue. Paypal does have buyer protection afterall. The link for the software was straight to Microsoft.com...

Well... can you link me to a known LEGIT website with genuine copies of Windows 7 or 8 for a similar price(preferably 7 because 8 sucks)? I'm actually really considering buying that CPU/mobo combo you linked, but not if I have to spend a ton of money just to re-buy Windows. And tbqh I'd pirate Windows before giving that website you linked my credit card info lol. I don't trust that site at all, so sketch.

[QUOTE="Couth_"]That's a poverty PC if i've ever seen oneblackace

If you're going to build a gaming PC, you might as well build the best you can afford so that it at least has a 5-6yrs life. I seriously wouldn't build one cheaply.

You can build strong PCs for <$1000 if it's not your first build and you can carry some parts over from your previous build, or just do small upgrades over time. I always recommend a budget of at least $1500 for your first build, monitor included. Why build a powerful PC to play on a crap monitor?

I don't know how many times I've seen first timers set their budget at like $800-1000 because forum neckbeards say it's possible with crap builds like in the OP. Once the first timers actually do their own research their budget always hits the 2k mark

You´d better pay a few additional bucks and change that CPU for FX 8350.

so the console bargain is only a myth, wait till the new lineup for CPUs-GPUs, that will put a nail in the coffin.

Apples and oranges comparison. The 7600GT (midrange card from 2005) was like 30-40% slower than the consoles GPU. A 7950 @1Ghz is like 2x more powerful than the consoles GPU all while having a faster CPU.......
