Not that 60 players makes the online instantly better. You guys need to get this out of your head.
I bet this game will still do really well, but 8 people for campaign? I am interested to see it work and be balanced.
Stop with the fanboy stuff!! We will probably never know untill the 360 has a game announced that competes with RFOM2.
Will there even be 60 people who buy R:FoM 2?Demetri_OS
i guess you didnt hear millions bought r:fom 1..
Will there even be 60 people who buy R:FoM 2?Demetri_OS
2 million has the first one. If you look online ANYTIME youll see many people still playing the first one. RFOM will be the Halo of PS3!!!!!

Taken from Wiki...
Huxley's main producer Kijong Kang said that the cities in Huxley will be able to accommodate up to 5000 (according to recent publications that number was increased to 10000 since summer 2006) people, and the individual battles will support over a hundred players. The battles can be as small as 1 VS 1 or as big as 60 VS 60 players (120), which is a modest improvement over the 150 player maximum of Novalogic's Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising. Player vs. AI will allow up to 64 players of a given faction to play together.
Player vs. player battles will be available, as will be player vs. AI quests that the player can choose to take on. The 360 version of Huxley is said to include a single player campaign.

Lmao... you can still log on to the original resistance and see many... MANY full rooms.... of 40 :D Ignorant little...
60 players? Why so many?Sonick54
It's called dedicated servers.
See, on P2P, if you have more than 12 players, the host's router explodes.

Um....how the hell is that game managing 60vs 60 players? Is it using dedicated servers? This just isn't feasible via a P2P connection....
this isn't even generally feasible via a dedicated server unless they're splitting the battlefield up into segments and allowing for seperate pieces of action that is sent to players in greater detail while the rest is left in a relative haze....
although given the possibility that these are very high end and well-maintained servers, in which case, I suppose you should expect a meaty subscription fee in addition to your XBL sub....
Plus, that's Wiki.....plus, that doesn't guarantee that the Xbox 360 version of the game will be able to have 120 player battles, given it's not specifically cited and PC is the other release platform.

Dedicated servers. And hell yeah its possible. Joint Operations supported that many players. So did Planetside, or any other MMO really.
And I just went to wiki cause im too lazy to search for info. Ive been following this game closely. The PC version is in beta phase, and the 360 version will be released 6 months afterwards.
why the hell would we want resistance 2
gears of war 2 is going to destroy it just like gears of war one slaughtered resistance 1
60 player mp who cares resistance was 40 players and it sucked
gears of war won 30 goty awards resistance got nothing it got the shaft
gears won every major multiplayer game of the year award
again resistance got the shaft
this time 60 players can get together and play complete mediocrity
u can bet insomniac wont release resistance 2 around the same time gears 2 comes out
insomniac is pretty much scared $hitless of gears since it completly obliterated resistance
btw huxley has 60 v 60 so once again
FAILED
Will there even be 60 people who buy R:FoM 2?Demetri_OS
 Low blow.
Resistance sold over 2 million copies :). It was a great game. And for a luanch title I say it was superb.
If Insomniac delivers the goods, Resistance 2 will be !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
again why would lems want resistance when gears which has siold nearly 6 million was ten times better
i guess ps3 fans love inferior games
So this game will support:
A) Dedicated servers
B) 120 players on them
on Xbox Live?
BobHipJames
Even more. As stated above, they hope to have the town hubs support much, much more than 120 players. Thats where you group up, get upgrades for your gear, get quests etc. Then you go out into the PVP or PVE instances, a la Guild Wars. Those instances will support up to 120 players last I checked.
I hope that Webzen is smart enough to know that a sub on top of the XBL fee will probably hurt sales a lot, and tries to come up with a business model allowing no fee.(Again, a GW model would work.)
exactly quality vs quantity if gears has 4v4 u can bet your ass its gonna spank resistance 2 just like gears 1 spanked resistance 1
id rather have a small based tactical shooter that takes skill and team work
vs 60 noobs running around in run and gun gameplay that takes virtually no skill and is overall just boring

I think lemmings are the only people who arent impressed by the R:FoM 2 news. I know if this was announce for X360 u would be screaming about how the PS3 is officially dead.
the 360 could never do this resistance 2 will own this year patrickjw333
I hope not. Why would I want a noobfest....... I like to control my destiny to some extent on the battlefield..... otherwise whats the point?

I.E. you hope they will support dedicated servers entirely out of their own pocket from sales alone?
I hope you realize that Microsoft ain't providing those servers. The typical host can't support a 10th of that number of players simultaneously (120).

They said specifically that they intend to involve cover, objective based gameplay, etc....
They're specifically trying to avoid run and gun gameplay and a "mad rush to the center."

IM NOT A LEMMING Im a sheep :wink:And im not impressed by the new RfOM it seems just as generic and bland as the 1st one but this time they just put 60 player MP to give people a reason to waste 60 bucks.

Resistance was NOT as good as Gears, but since we don't know anything about Gears 2 right now, but this new info on Resistance 2 is pretty sweet. I mean, I haven't heard about another game to have two tottally different campaigns. This will obviously balance out the co-op, unlike Halo's:|so 60 player MP= AAA title? interestinglawlessxPeople keep "quoting" that from cows, but I've yet to see someone say that:| Obviously 60 player online support sounds great, especially with random generated maps.:D

They specifically state that it's only worth it to people who "missed it last year".....as far as multiplayer options go on PC, there's just "so many better options out there," that it's not worth the purchase...
Then they crap all over the singleplayer portions.
The console version wasn't better, they just disliked the poor optimization of the port, apparently, as well as the fact that KB/M had sloppy implementation and revealed the "simplicity of the control scheme" and thus game mechanics...

Its pretty much true..it heats up my friends router when we play XBL..which is crazy lol..anyways..RFOM 2 will dominate all console (maybe even pc) fps's to date!!
[QUOTE="patrickjw333"]the 360 could never do this resistance 2 will own this year PS3_3DO
There is going to be 32 players on Frontlines for the 360 next month. I can't see why there couldn't be using dedicated servers. XBL cost money so it should be better then PSN.
Indeed, it should be. And if it is, I'll sit quietly.
We'll see soon enough, then.

some what so
Its a New IP
and still sells for $60
I must say am Quite Impress
More AI, More Players, Bigger Maps, Better Graphics And this Just second Gen
60 players? BF2142 servers aren't always stable with 64 (atleast my clans server has a tendency to randomly crash when lots of action focuses on one area)
its bound to lag
you can throw teamwork right out the window at that point 30 people per team=disorganized fragfeast ...my understanding is that most people on PSN don't have mics regardless
