PC Gaming is not expensive!

Ultra High is only available if you have DX10 and a DX10 GPU, so no, they couldn't have said that.

The footage from 06 and early 07 looked much better than the Very High we have today and if not better than Ultra High people have unlocked

In your opinion, link to where they said it would run on Ultra High with a 7800GTX or admit you're making stuff up.

EDIT: No, it can't be unlocked on XP, its DX10 specific.

They did not say Ultra High, but its common knowledge they said the game would run nicely on a 7800 GTX with High Settings which happens to looked like the Ultra we have now.

Seriously, why do people get offended when i have to comment on something slightly negative regarding Crysis, maybe if i started stating my PC specs in my sig then i wouldnt always have such a hostile reception...

EDIT: Yes it can be unlocked, seriously, youre just making yourself look silly now, people first unlocked Very High which was Vista only, but now we have Ultra. Do some research:|

No, it can't be "unlocked", you have to tweak the DX9 settings in XP, thats not the same and even than its not really Ultra High, its a tweaked version of DX9 because you're not using DX10 to use it.

Nagidar

Wow you really dont know what youre talking about, because youve just given me more proof for what i said:| Heres what the readme for Ultra says

Increase the quality of Crysis with this Ultra High Quality Autoexec.
This autoexec includes all the features and graphics improvements available on Very High (Dx10),
and much more.

Tweaked or not, you CAN GET ULTRA SETTINGS ON XP. But what are you trying to prove, i was argueing how they said the game that looked MUCH better back in 06 and early 07 would run on an 7800 GTX, not how you can get Ultra on XP. Seriously, are you so offended that i have something to say against Crysis that you must attack a meaningless point and lose head regarding the larger debate?

Theres more to it, you have to trick the game into thinking DX10 is present, the game needs to load the DX10 engine before you can access the Ultra High menu. I know what I'm talking about, I've done it.

Again, its not really Ultra High, the real Ultra High uses DX10, obviously DX10 is not present in XP.

You want to try again?

Return of Shinobi is correct actually. I recall Crytek dev having confirmed that the game would run fine on a 7800gtx and C2D 6600, on high details.

I think the game is optimised well enough, but they over hyped their promise a bit.

How is it damage control? I've proven BOTH your points wrong.

1. They never said Crysis would run on Ultra High with a 7800GTX, you pulled that out of your ***.

2. Windows XP does not run Ultra High, you have to adjust files in the game folder to access the menu and thats still not really Ultra High since Ultra High is really for DX10 and DX10 is obviously absent from XP.

This demostration works in their favor since Warhead has been better optimised I hope and really doesn't look much different from Crysis with a few mods. With prices now down on higher end hardware from when they released Crysis it really helps their argument a lot.

Anyway its good that the hardware is moving forward rappidly so we can have the hardware catch up with the software.

When I first purchased my 512mb 8800GT it cost £170 and struggled to run Crysis medium/high at 1280x800, several drivers and patches later the card can be purchased for £115 and runs Crysis high/very high at 1440x900/1680x1050 with better performance.

So I am not surprised in the least that an optimised version of the engine can run on such a cheap PC.

Its complete nonsense.

I have 3 systems at home. One of them being a Core 2 Duo 2,6 Ghz, 2GB ram and 8800GT. Me and my brother build the system for 690 euro's. Wish is a very good deal in the long term. PC hardware always lasts very long in my experience.

And still, even if PC hardware is more expensive then consoles. Consoles are very restricted in features. A PC is its money more worthy.

Thats not what he initially said, he said Crytek stated it would run on Ultra High with a 7800GTX.

Nah Crytek never said on Ultra High. They basicly confirmed that Ultra High would be very demanding and only systems after a year of its original release would be able to smoothly run on Ultra High.

But they did said a C2D + 7800gtx would run it on High. Then after a year of the development, the graphics improved and they said 8800gts 320mb afterwards. But the perfomance still didn't live up people's expectations.

NVIDIA released 8800GT wich did run it very smoothly. And 8800GTS variant was upgraded to compensate with the stronger and cheaper GT.

I know it´s nonsense. I´ve built a 800 euro´s PC for my brother including a 22" monitor that can run CoD4 perfectly. In a couple of week I'll be upgrading myself with a budget of 800 euro (probably Q9450 with HD4870 or maybe 2 4850 in CF). But it's just the "bu bu bu the $3000 PC " that's really bugging me. I mean, what are you guys trying to prove? It has already been proved several times that a good PC can be built under 800 euro, and if you really want to go to great lengths to convince those who are still not convinced, you've got to get your priorities streight.

$652? For a temporary gaming solution?

Expensive.

TheSystemLord1

Temporary? What's temporary about it?

I would like to see this $652 PC in-person. If you don't overlock your not going to get $1,000 PC quality out of a $652 low-end PC.

Its normally because you never provide facts or evidence to back up what you claim. Just a hunch though.

6matt6

When have i not, another jaded PC gamer who cant stand another PC gamer with an opinion. Ive provided my proof, i PMed it to those who wanted it, i didnt post it in the thread simply because i didnt want to drop other peoples levels.

For someone who complained about being labeled a console gamer in another thread you are awfully quick to label me.

I play my xbox 360 more than PC and I have a Wii. I dont care about you're opinion you can have it if you want but i would like to see all this proof of 3-D leaves and ultra running on a 7 series card. Have an opinion by all means just dont pull stuff out of your ass.

No because you labelled me, not providing proof when i clearly did:| I dont mind being labelled anything, i dont care, but the point is, Hermits cant take any negative comments towards Crysis, and this is just more proof.

I havent seen you post one peice of evidence so I came to the conculsion you're making stuff up. I dont care if you sent other memebers the evidence i would like to see it myself.

1. 3-D leaves

2. Running on ultra high 7 series card.

Provide your evidence please.

LOL so now you are carrying on another thread, so tell me again, what are you trying to prove because i wont be pulled into this meaningless argument

I stand by 3D leaves, and i have proof regarding 7800 GTX, as somebody has said, they said High, i was wrong, but that doesnt change the fact that the game back then looked MUCH better, so that High then was more than the High and who knows Very High we have now.

Again, no proof until you prove what you are trying say, because honestly, this is just another labelling thing and i wont give in to hermit arrogance BS

Was playing Crysis a moment ago.

Have to say it still runs, plays and looks like a treat with the Natural Mod and 1.2 patch.

Still a blast to play.

Damn those Nano Suit guys are hard on Delta. The A.i is still damn good too.

Nagidar

1. No i didnt, im not the only one stating it, High then looks leaps and bounds better than High we have today

2. Wrong it can, just give up, we have mods and tweaks to achieve this, what more do you want, infact im playing it right now on Ultra High;)

People are treating $652 as cheap, it isnt, thats a lot of money, much more than a console, but the important is that they are saying 8600 GT, and thats promising

You do realise how grossly overpowered PC hardware is per price?

Seriously?.....

The performance scale is getting even more massive with the next set of low priced cards.

Its an amazing time PC hardware wise. Cryteks price is nothing out of the ordinary. :?

Return of Shinobi is correct actually. I recall Crytek dev having confirmed that the game would run fine on a 7800gtx and C2D 6600, on high details.

I think the game is optimised well enough, but they over hyped their promise a bit.

PullTheTricker
Thanks, but i admit my mistake they didnt say Ultra High, but they did say High, i have the quote, but im saying is that High then again looked a lot better than High now. Im one of the few who says Crysis is well optimised too regardless of how you look at it simply because it does so much with current technology, it must sucks at scalability, even SLi systems are hardly benefit

My hardware is all in mah sig.

Though im not sure they are saying 8600gt, no hardware specs of the rig have come out.... I strongly doubt its a 8600GT... Crytek really havent BSed at all on their behalf, especilly compared to other fps devs out there.

The amount of variables that are settings and hardware is huge, we really cant make assumptions.

Ummm.....it's not a low-end PC......

It most likely has a 8800GT in it with a good Core2Duo. That can be easily done with that amount of cash.

1. You said Ultra High, which is not the same as High. You lose this one, you were exagerating.

2. And those same mods could be applied to the real Ultra High settings in DX10, again, you fail, the "trick" in XP you do is NOT the same as the real Ultra High in DX10 mode, DX10 != DX9.

And people, IGN saw a demonstration using the PC and said it ran very smoothly. It wasn't Crytek that said this part.
