As the owner of a 780 Ti, I'd like to know which games you think it can't max out. I haven't run across one yet.

That is because you dont have max settings, which is 4k resolution + all jumbo mumbo at max.

Your argument is like saying a golf cart is better than a Ferrari because at the golf cart can drive at max speed all the time.

Keep digging that hole, peasant.

Was there any need to call him a peasant? Argue your point and stop acting like an ass.

Nice opinions, but this is an objective thread.

PC, objectively, is top spot in all facets.

Most games are multiplat. They are nearly ALL better on PC, while having more exclusives than 3 consoles put together. Thus PC is better at gaming. But grats on the killzones, ryse, knacks, destiny's, and multiplats at low/30fps.

Tell me one wrong fact I have told that was on the level of "consoles play max settings through an entire gen".

Almost every major genre evolved on consoles.

The biggest and most popular genres being played at the very moment, and top sellers, created + evolved on PC:

1. MMORPG. The MOST popular. The MOST players. The MOST sales.

2. MOBA. The SECOND most.....

3. FPS. The hottest among the general public. No explanation necessary. Thanks PC!

4. RTS. A countries national sport (S. Korea)!! Possibly highest skill cap among all competitive video games. Thanks PC!

5. TPS and Stealth. Nice try on those Thief copies.

6. Real Horror.

8. ARPG

9. TBS

10. SIMS/Builders. Minecraft and Sims, ever heard of it? I heard its popular. Who made these?

11. Open World: Ever heard of a games called TES (morrowind/skyrim) and GTA? I HEARD DEY GOOD. Guess who made and evolved these?

..but hey, console made madden and stuff.

What year are you in? Steam automatically updates every game, and GPU drivers auto update now as well. Users haven't had to manually patch their games and match versions in at least ten years.

@Jankarcop:

Consoles developed the games market.

Consoles developed and evolved the controller.

Consoles evolved sports, racing, platformers, adventure games, action games, all kinds of RPGs, shooters, etc etc etc, and even modern day FPS games are designed around the controller. Goldeneye and halo were huge influences on the genre. Resident Evil set a new standard in the horror genre. Metal gear brought stealth and cinema flair. Splinter Cell. ...There's simply too much to say as there are 100s upon thousands of console games. To put it simply; it wasn't even "consoles" per say, but moreso the most profound developers of all time like Nintendo, Sega, Atari, capcom, Namco, Midway, SNK, etc. the consoles were their products to play these games.

Then you have the evolution of the controller and cart formats. Gpus are first introduced on game consoles. Portable games--that's from consoles. Touch screen games--that's from consoles.

Not saying pc had no effect, either. The platform simply pales in comparison in this area.

xbox go to sunset overdrive?

how about the ability to control my TV, sound system, and console via voice commands and via my cell phone. To have it turn everything on and launch a game while I'm in another room so its ready by the time i sit down and grab my controller? The ability to pause my game turn off my console and come back 2 days later with it still paused in the same spot? that's just off the top of my head actually

Voice control comes preinstalled on all versions of Windows since, i don't know, XP? Maybe even earlier.

It's completely customizable and needs just a mic to work.

It doesn't need a bulky $100 device. Besides, i'm pretty sure i'll already be in game by the time you finish your sentence.

If you're not disabled, voice control is completely impractical.

If you like this kind of gimmicks, PC can do them.

Loading Video...

The second thing you mentioned is called "sleep mode" and was invented on PC around PS1 era.

Every PC since can do that. Try unplugging your console and see if the game is in the same spot when you plug it back in.

Cause that's what "turning off" means. Pressing power button just puts it into sleep mode.

Will still play a lot better than current consoles, A LOT.

That depends on your settings, like for 1080p maybe with 60FPS for a lot of games, but 1440p and higher, holy crap, not to mention those VRAM requirements, and mods if you want to go that route(since most PC gamers do).

Ease of use.

I close one program and click on another Steam title to play something else. What could be easier than that?

you need to make sure the settings are right to work with your pc depending on its power. Iv gamed on pc before and thats one thing that always bugged me.

One time setup brah, just like the first thing I do when I play a new game on any console is see what settings they have to offer.

end of the day I have to do it with every game. Dont like doing that. Plopping my disk in my console and just going in is faster at the end of the day.

I wonder if the people who complain about ease of use on a PC have played a PC game in the last decade.

All my games auto-update, auto-configure on start-up to whatever my PC hardware is, and if they have controller support then it's ready on start-up as well.

Maybe in the days of the N64, but not anymore.

Steam auto-downloads and installs patches in the background, consoles require acknowledgement and time sitting watching a progress bar (twice over on the PS3).

The only legitimate "function" I can personally see being better on consoles is Netflix. I just like the interface for the PS3 version more than the PC version. But that's just preference.

@Krelian-co: Game sharing on PlayStation consoles clowns PC's version, local multiplayer isn't widely supported as it is on consoles like the Wii U nor is it viable for more than four players at once, and c'mon now, Achievements suck on Steam due to a lack of being mandatory.

I know all the various strengths of PC. They're pretty awesome. But between the cheaper cost of consoles, the cross buy with Vita, the cheaper methods I use to get my games, and the ability to have games readily available friends can come over and play, I'm pretty damn happy with my systems.

Remember, the 8800 GTX became a minimum years after release to be able to even do low settings for games like BF3. Even though the GTX 780 is obviously going to do better than consoles, the fact that later multiplats will require a better gpu than that even for minimum so that's where the whole " a single high end gpu won't last the entire gen" thing comes from. I was just adding more to what's been said, that's all.

rough? a 780 is one of the top cards right now, when the next consoles come out it will still be able to run games at least at medium settings and it will still look better than consoles, thing is we pc gamers upgrade to be able to run on ultra but if we didn't care about the best a 780 is more than enough to run games better than a console all gen, and no game will ask for a 780 minimum.

The 8800 gtx can easily run bf3, but you have to lower the resolution, just like on the consoles. But it will still look better than on the consoles

You don't even need a 780 to play games on the pc at very high settings, I just bought a second handed r9 280x, and it just murders most games if I don't go crazy on the AA

The consoles will die pretty soon with all the stuff coming to the pc, I just bought elite dangerous and an x1.I already sold the x1, it has no games and the ones that they have are nauseating because of the low framerates. It's the same with the ps4.

If nintendo is smart, they can conquer the whole console market right now.

Krelian-co, lets see about that in 2020, hell by then 3GB or higher will be a minimum for gpus. Though for the next few years the GTX 780 will still do fine of course(just won't max everything obviously).

evildead, the 8800GTX could not do high(at least with a high FPS) and definitely not ultra settings on BF3 due to the limited VRAM it had, you needed at least 1GB and preferably 2GB. If you wanted 60FPS then something else had to be lower. Resolution couldn't be 1080p either, but still a bit higher than consoles, though not by double.

From my experiance installing a ps4 game and a installing a pc game can take the same amount of time. Also on ps3 some games dont need install. Also I dont think putting a disk in is a hassle. Also the consoles have the features to auto update any games you have. So yea again doing the settings with every game still bugs me more.

PC evolved and created the most popular and played franchises today, and the hardware for every future console.

My list was not refuted.

PC remains the best.

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but single screen local multiplayer. Not saying it can't be done on PC. It's just that the best local MP games have always been on consoles. To be fair though, it's mostly just a strong point for Nintendo now.

Anyways, my 2nd 970 arrived this afternoon, won't be touching a console for a while lol.

What's up with these guys saying X video card won't max out video games after few years? As if consoles will still be running everything at max PC settings. Even cross gen games like MGSV are not running on high settings on consoles at the beginning of this gen and are outperformed by mid range PCs, let alone the situation after 4-5 years.

Console damage control, that's all it is.

In a few years budget $250 back to school laptops with integrated graphics will be outperforming the current consoles.

Simplicity. No overhead of other crap on your computer to deal with. It does what it does. I play on Nintendo consoles, so I can't say on behalf of Playstation or Xbox.

Only one console can claim to do anything better and that is the Wii-U -- the answer is local multiplayer. I play LAN pretty regularly but it wasn't as quick and easy to set up and obviously there is a signifigant rise in cost (completely worth it though).

Mods? Come on now we know the only mods white boys that game on PC use mods for is Nude Mods. That white trash dorks get off on eww. PC has terrible exclusives like The sims 4 lol. MMO type of BS that only white trash kids play and dont appeal to me. Guild war? wtf is a Guild war lol. Magic the gathering is PC yeah?lol. No thanks. Running around as a white trash harry potter waving wands around casting magic spells with fairy dust or watever weird sh1t is in there . Only good exclusvies were Half life 2/ Doom 3/ um portal? but all got ported to console so they lost thoses. To bad fatty mcdonald Gabe wont make a half life 3. wtf has he been doing? but watever that was 11 yrs ago lol. Hes probably old as dirt.

I think it would be weird and make me look like a white trash dork having a mouse and keyboard on my lap playing games on the couch or chair lol. Um NO! Yeah theres controller but mouse and keyboard is better right? So yeah that wont work sitting on the couch or sofa and probalby uncomfortable.

4k tvs? lol hell no i have 5 perfectly good HDtvs at 1080p (2 toshiba/ Samsung/ LG/ sony) so uh yeah i dont think i need a 4k tv which are very expensive and why buy pay more when i can pay less for a these great hdtvs for under $300 lol Its a no brainer. Plus who the hell watchs tv in 2015 lol. I rarely watch tv anymore compared to the 90s( love the 90s) so i also rarely use my tv unless i play games or news off and on for the weather.

Dont u have to change settings off and on for different games if u switch off and on between them? watever. If something is wrong with ur PC u have to fix it yourself to make sure it runs yea? watever lol. But uh yeah i dont care for PC and never will and consoles are for me ever since the 90s and its gotten bigger then ever which is great and more mainstream then ever before

Most people are repulsed by incredibly dumb posts, but I actually enjoyed this a lot.

Thanks bro.

@mitu123:

You do realize that with 8800gt you still get the better version of Battlefield 3 than consoles? You do realize that console versions are sub HD with cinematic frame rates and 32 players limit? That said, requirements going higher are hardly a bad thing because one of the complains that you hear from PC gamers is that consoles are holding PCs back. I don't think it's a bad thing if devs push PC versions of their games more and more every year and console settings become worse than low PC settings after 4-5 years of their cycle (talking about last gen consoles when both consoles were top of the line on launch).

  • Much more of my friends own one so online multi-player is more fun. Only a handful of my friends play games on PC and it just isn't the same playing strangers.
  • Best local multi-player. More specifically a Nintendo advantage though rather than consoles in general.
  • Ermmm, more cinematic.

I love my PC but I've always got room for a console or two for MP and the exclusives.
