And a lot of of console gamers over-exaggerate how their exclusives match against Crysis in graphics.
markko84
the thing is that CRysis 1 do not look that good for its performance requirements.. but the game is unfarily labelled as a visual masterpiece, but its only a bad optimized game, that for solely this reason is considered a definitive benchmark test for any machine.
But it is a visual masterpiece.Who cares? I would rather play an N64 then any exclusive out on PC. And a bump in definition and better lighting means nothing to me. If someone can't be happy with 360/PS3 GRAPHICS THEN THEY WILL NEVER BE SATISFIED.!!!! I feel sorry for people like that. WarTornRuston
Thats fine. You simply are in the camp of 'its good enough'.
I like pong still, because the concept is basic and fun, but ... would much rather play Shogun 2. You just like pong more, np there amigo!
This has always been so. But it's mostly due to the overexaggeration of graphics overall in terms of how they enrich a game. Great graphics are nice, but gameplay is still so much further ahead in the list of priorities, at least IMO.
calvinsora
Terraria proves that graphics don't stop a game from being epic fun; however a combination of great graphics and great gameplay is the best of both worlds.
Try playing Daggerfall, and then looking at screenshots of Skyrim. I would rather just look at the screenshots.

So you like playing inferior stuff. Thats okay, instead of playing superior PS or PC games you are stuck playing inferior N64 ones, okay that cool, but you could be playing better.
This, although I can see where TC is coming from, both sides are equally to blame. If anything console gamers downplay the PC advantage. Most probably haven't experienced 1920x1080 + 4xMSAA though so you can't really blame them. They look at screenshots/youtube videos and draw conclusions from that :?

I don't think I overstate the level of graphics in PC games. I think that even a game from 2003 still has great graphics as seen in this shot of FS 2004.
There is no doubt that pc games look better, but its not that much of the difference that its a whole generation ahead.
Denial is a terrible thing to deny! :) I can't take anyone seriously that says things like this. It puts you right into the catagory of people that say a gaming PC costs $3000 dollars. There is no doubt that pc games look better, but its not that much of the difference that its a whole generation ahead.

PC gamers have to come up with something because they have nothing else..:) I mean ask the average person on the street what they game on...CONSOLE..BOOM!!...consoles win every time..now for some potato soup..:D..yum!

[QUOTE="AdrianWerner"]Well, that's the beauty of it, isn't it? I mean, consoles and PCs offering diffrent experiences. FOr people wanting to see some realism, but not hardcore ammount of it they can get Gran Turismo on consoles. And if they're maniacs that want something that's bassicaly a training tool they can go for iRacing and race against professional drivers :)
That said, while in genreal those are niche on PC, titles from hardcore sim and strategy genres often break out to mainstream on PC, delivering suprisingly high sales. And I think we can thanks consoles for that to be honest. Some people might mourn the death of PC exclusive mainsteam FPSes and other games of this type, but IMO their switch to multiplat created an empty space in PC market that allowed more niche games to thrive in a way they never could before.
jedikevin2
Of course, I personally don't even see consoles as prime competitors with the PC and they can make great complementary systems.
Yet for the last year, you have decided to make countless threads stating Pc is meh while console is better. You've been one of a many members specifically in System wars who has promoted the "pc has no games", the horrible generalizations of " Pc cost thousands of dollars", pc games are always horrible bugged and console games not, "pc is only for mmo's and rts".... Obviously, looking at the threads you've made in this forum, I would deduce you look at the Pc as some inferior platform and in some battle against the console hardware.
Ironically I'm mainly a PC gamer myself. So just because I dare speak out my opinions makes me "anti-PC" or even "PC hater"? Great logic.
Shogun 2 and Witcher 2 on highest are very good indicators of what is a generation ahead of consoles. Witcher 2 will be coming to consoles, and they say it will keep its quality, but I'm sure it won't look much better than low on PC. 110millionThey have already shown what the game looks like on the 360...a blurry mess

I can agree to that, but having the best of both worlds doesn't mean that any product lacking in the graphics department is inherently inferior. I'm not saying that's what you say, not at all, but many others I've met on the internet do.

Not a bad idea, all things considered, but getting things shipped to Iceland is often an incredible hassle for most sites. When I eventually invest in a good computer in the future, though, that's most likely what I'll do.

Well i have this one friend on steam who is in the UAE and he managed to get it set up so he could order from newegg, they would send it to a post box in florida and they would automatically forward it to his address in the UAE[QUOTE="soulitane"] Just a few questions about that. Doesn't that mean I have no warranty for the parts? Would I need an adapter to be able to use it in my country (different types of plugs here I think)? And where can I order them from? I don't think it would really effect the warranties if you use a proxy like described above, but i'm not sure. As for the adapter i don't know either, maybe you might want to get the power supply locally to be sure.Shogun 2 and Witcher 2 on highest are very good indicators of what is a generation ahead of consoles. Large areas with deep, high-resolution vegetation is not just adding AA or higher resolution. The lushness and beauty of the forests is simply impossible on the 360 and PS3.
Clothes on NPCs look quite great too.
They may not be good defining points for what is a generation ahead, but many games going from PS2->PS3 and XBOX->XBOX360 did not do a ton. Better textures, better physics, higher resolution, better shadows, etc. Its all you can do in terms of technical power.

My summation is base enitrely on your anti Pc threads you've made in the last year. When a member makes up to several threads critisizing a platform and stating another is better.. its simple to deduce he is either Anti X, a hater, or a fanboy.

There is a stark contrast then just opinions to intentially making threads stating Pc is inferior. Infact, in your last year, I do not recall once where you spoke of something in the good of Pc. This. I'm a manticore, but it's funny to see my pc peeps digrading themselves like this. As if they were superior. Each system offers something different. And even if the conversation has nothing to do with them, they like to but in. HERMITS. Literraly. HERMITS. Its funny how people always point out the hermits for doing this...as if the other lemmings and cows don't do this on a regular basis as well. Lets not mention how they totally disregard and degrade the Wii. Selective memory much? More often than not, the consolites would argue the most pettiest of differences while the hermits actually do have significant superiority, particularly in graphics, library variety and more games with deeper and complex gameplay.[QUOTE="VensInferno"]
I don't know about you guys but it gets pretty annoying when Hermits state the obvious over and over... and over again. Especially when there a console discussion and they bring up the PC out of no where...

Cheaper games, mods, don't pay for online (if your comparing to 360), better lighting, the capabibility for better AI (haven't seen anything surpass F.E.A.R. whoch came out in 2005), there are more differences than what you state.
PC also has mods, the ability to use mouse/kb AND controllers, "free to play" games, many more RTS's and MMORPG's, very few "peer to peer" multiplayer, its almost all dedicated servers, ACTUAL 1080p (Console 1080p=stretched 720p pixels), vastly better customization, and its not all controlled by one company like consoles.

Way to play Killzone 2 on easy and compare it to a strategy game AI. For one AI is VERY important when it comes to RTS so that's just a completely unfair comparison to a FPS to begin with. I can't speak for ARMA 2 though. But I hear it's just ridiculous. In any case to call Killzone AI bad is simply laughable. They aren't scripted at all. No battle plays out the same way.
Hyperbole. Saying that PC games look several generations better is a hyperbolic way of saying that PC games look ALOT better. ferret-gamer
Exactly, I doubt the person was being literal TC... Though you never know in SW :P
The jump from last-gen to this gen wasmore impactful due to the jump to HD... Whereas PC's have done HD for years before it.
