People comparing it to 1984 have NEVER read 1984.I can see what you are getting at. We have been in the first steps of 1984 for quite a while now, and we definitely live in a surveillance society, but it's fair to say that Xbox 1 is another step towards the full realization of 1984. It will give our government the ability to spy on us in our homes at a greater capability. Still, if not with Xbox 1, it will happen with the next line of Tv's which will have similar technology to XB1. Still though, not sure what makes you think that he hasn't read it. The xbox 1 is definitely reminiscent to the telescreen's in 1984.Â
Still, this whole thing about reaching the world of 1984 is somewhat innacurate in my opinion. When it happens, it will probably be a mix of Brave New World and 1984. Instead of killing us with what we hate, it's more likely they will ruin us with the things we love. For example, instead of concealing the truth, it will be drowned in irrelevancy.Â
@ Always_explicit, now tell me, if they wanted to spy on you for questionable purposes, would they tell you ? Wouldn't they want you to believe that's it's for security ? A great man once said, that those who sacrifice freedom for security will have neither. Security is never worth it if it means losing your privacy, or your freedom.
