So your saying people are wrong? That they should listen and accept what they been told? Sorry but life doesn't work that way.

Stop being in denial... On GS MS won. Live with it.

LMFAO. "but but teh only teh gamespot scores count" now its "but but teh only teh gamespot polls count, and teh opinionz of teh userz" alright ill live with it, you live with the fact that almost everyone else disagrees.

Not really. The majority of sites had no winner and then you have sites like IGN who is broken up into their own fanboy ventures so they will say their own won either way. Logic would say no one really won. The press conferences were a bore this year. MS showed what it had for the rest of 2007, which every one agrees is an amazing lineup and beats the PS3 and Wii lineup for the rest of the year, but they didn't show any 2008 titles at the show (they showed off a lot of these 2008 titles behind closed doors). The PS3 showed off future games, which was the norm for old E3, but once again we are waiting Sony. Nintendo showed off some new stuff, but old stuff as well and IMO was by far the worst press conference out of the 3.

Of course the press conferences are just a fraction of the show and the majority of 360 games were playable on the floor which is why a lot of people say they won which would only make sense, but I understand that logic doesn't come into play here at SW so I'm sure you believe otherwise. On top of that, the 360 did have future games there, they just weren't shown to the public.

[QUOTE="snorlaxmaster"]Wow...that certainly is some news. First Sony wins the E3, then they have their own showing, and next they will be at TGS and hopefully announce even more games. This doesn't look good for the 360, but i dont think it'll fail.Mandingo101

In your opinion Sony won.

Most people think MS won.

This isn't bad news. This just means we will get all our info from TGS.

 priceless. total denial. most gaming journalists say sony won, even kotaku and g4 hosts and others who usually hate on sony. all the business mags say ninty won cus everyone knows the wii yoga board is gonna sell like hotcakes. i dont really know anyone with credibility who says MS even came close to winning.

Actually kotaku and other sites said no one won....joystiq just gave out stupid wartds and never really stated who won...nice bs u got there.

i watched g4 and the guy who runs kotaku was on there and said sony won :| i like how lemmings are still actually trying to argue that MS won

[QUOTE="Tamarind_Face"]there were no games to show that year and they were transitioning from the xbox to the 360. So are we gonna expect a 720 very soon?eastside49er

Did Microsoft beat you up as a kid or something?...

Weaksauce alert . Anywho things are not looking good for M$ .

How? They have the biggest line-up of games from now till the end of 08. They probably aren'r having X07 because normally E3 would be in may, show some games off that are coming out in 6 months + then later on show more at X07 but there is no need now because all the games that were shown at E3 are coming out starting in like 4 weeks.

thats very debatable, infact i dont see much for 08 that peaks interest as much as MGS4, FF13, vs, WKS, GT5, and a host of other games on ps3. maybe you can say they have the rest of 07 with halo 3 and mass effect and some other games, but even nintendo is bringing out 3 big hitters this year and sony has a some coming too.

Actually it really isn't a debate. The 360 has arguably the best holiday lineup I have ever seen.

dude did you even read what i wrote ? i said you can say they have the rest of this year, even though halo has been underwhelming to many, it will still be a good game. but he said they rule 08 as well, and unless they have halo 4 coming out in 08 i just dont see it.

Well I guess the Halo 3 trailer at the conference was underwhelming, but just about every one praised the behind closed doors demo and most said that is what MS should have shown at the conference.

Bottom line counts...looks like they're doing fine..Hows Sony doing?Heil68

Sony also had an increase in profits year upon year and guess what? Shareholders aren't determining this, its businesses who either aren't satisfied with Microsoft or customers who are beginning to see better options elsewhere. The increase in revenues is essentially the same as Sony's mentions that they accounted for most of the systems revenue around launch..its pricing, not market penetration.

Marketshare matters and its corroding for Microsoft in almost all areas.

All I can come up with is that your just a big PS3 hater. Still, your sig is lame.

deadhead127

Christ... here we go...

A common complaint from mostly the non-360-owning community (read: cows) was that the only high-profile games for the 360 were mostly shooters, correct?

Fast forward to E3... We catch glimpses of Killzone 2, Haze, and a now timed-exclusive UT3, and now these games have become a big part of the PS3 hype machine, not to mention MGS4 and Socom...

So now a significant chunk of the PS3's high profile, talked about games are shooters...and what can arguably be considered its flagship game, Killzone 2, is a shooter...

See anything crazy about this? For the record, I'm not saying these games are bad or knocking the PS3 in any way, but some of the systems more zealous fans really make fools of themselves when things turn out like this.

Over 90% of the World is using Windows thats have comps .

Runningflame570

Used to be over 95% its edging downwards and shows no signs of stopping soon. Between Apple's leveraging of the iPod and OEM support of Linux they can't stop it without being slapped with another anti-trust decision.

You know what's funny?

when you come to a gaming board, then someone has some bad news towards the 360

and then, the only answer ppl can come up with are things like that:

"Over 90% of the World is using Windows thats have comps."

That's like any cow coming here and saying, out of the blue

"more than 71% of the gaming population plays a Sony system."

ok, now i'll search how many ppl uses IBM's Blade Servers... wait there.

KZ2 can be the most hyped game for the PS3 in the USA.

But you can bet that in Japan, for example, the one game ppl are hyping this much is FFXIII

I believe you can start talking bad about MS once their profits stop increasing and they stop breaking profit records for the company.

Bottom line. MS is making more money now than they ever had.

Care to tell me where I have ever said that? If you don't think Microsoft is a company in some form of distress you are being ridiculous. They sure as heck put on a brave face but they are afraid, they are doing the same things they've done to all the other threats over the years, but the difference is its not working now.

It will take longer due to the ridiculous software patent situation as compared to when Apple and Microsoft were taking on IBM, but they WILL lose prominence at the least though I have no illusions of them ever going under.

Customer emotion is there, price differentials are there, usability is there, availability is getting there. You can't beat free and you can't beat no strings attached, thats what Microsoft is trying to do and it is not sustainable in the long-term except through lockin and with an increasing install base through available developers will most certainly shift focus.

Even though you are being sarcastic, the idiot you are replying to probably believes this. Gives me more reasons to stop coming to SW. The ignorance in here is off the charts.

REDMOND, Wash. — Apr. 26, 2007 — Microsoft Corp. today announced revenue of $14.40 billion for the quarter ended March 31, 2007, a 32% increase over the same period of the prior year. This revenue drove record profits with operating income of $6.59 billion and net income of $4.93 billion. Diluted earnings per share for the quarter grew 72% to $0.50, and included $0.02 in tax benefits and $0.01 in legal charges. Think they have room to wiggle Where Sony does not: Sony also suffered its biggest quarterly loss for four years for the period from January to March 2007, with a net loss of JPY 67.6 billion (EUR 413m). Sony's Game division recorded a JPY 232.3 billion (EUR 1.4 bn) loss, primarily due to selling the PS3 lower than the manufacturing price, as well as the associated costs of the worldwide launch.

Microsoft ALWAYS has record-breaking profits, with the exception of one quarter they've always improved profits quarter upon quarter and its not because they are making more money each quarter. There are dubious (though not illegal) accounting tricks they use to achieve those goals.

No I'm using common sense which obviously waved bye, bye to you a long time ago. Also I own all 3 consoles and a PC that you will probably never be able to afford so how exactly am a lemming again?

MS: showed a buttload of 3rd party games, a glitchy assassins creed, and announced a halo xbox 360 which no one really cares about. and announced the pointless "scene it". showed some halo, people were underwhelmed, but didnt really announce any new games.

The only thing I have hard time saying witha straight face is that you believe E3 press conference means anything to the casual gamer or real world. The only people that will discuss them is the hardcore gamer which is far and few between now a days. I never judge an E3 show by the press conferences, although that is what most sites will judge the show by, which is sad to say the least. I judge the show from what is shown on the floor and behind closed doors and all I heard was how great 360 games looked, played, etc. MS clearly won that battle for obvious reasons which is the main show, reasons that you still can't comprehend. You can go ahead and say this and that about the press conferences. IMO MS has never really had a good one, but has that made a difference in sales, game sales, quality of games, etc? Short answer, no.

just does not look good for MS atm. ppl may see this announcement bad for 360 camp. hopefully they do come up with something else . but if they dont, media might take it as the end of the 360.mazdaspeed-rx8

I was hopeing they were saying more stuff for X07. Being the reason MS did more of a shareholders meeting at E3 then anything else. Nothing much in the way of games for 08.

But a strong 07 showing.

Either way im going out and buying the 60gig PS3 model before they make there crazy changes in the new 80 gig one. Wanted to wait for more of a price drop and more games but guess I better bite the bullet.

[QUOTE="legalize3"]

[QUOTE="Carmilla31"]MS is just trying to save some money. No company can scoff at a loss of 1.15 billion dollars.Heil68

i thought lemmings saidthey had deep pockets.... what happend to the deep pockets ?

Umm, each division, ie MS gaming division, MS computer divion, etc, has its own budgets, goals, profits, etc. If the MS gaming division is bleeding money and getting a charge of 1.15 billion the head of the gaming division doesnt run to the heads of the other divisions for help. Its up to him to fix it from within his division. And saving millions on not throwing a XO7 is one way to do that.

Nobodies interested? this is huge news! there is something bad that is gonna happen. My hunch is M$ will do a recall and it may happen next year thats why they are not releasing any info for the the year 2008.

Oh and on the loop yesterday a kotaku guy said MS may have a recall. 360 am doomed?

Tamarind_Face

Nobody's (nobody is)

So far 360 has been selling well, as you know. However, with the recent light of events of all these consumers reporting dead 360s left & right, I'd imagine M$ is taking a bigger loss than they anticipated, and especially with whatever amount they lost on original Xbox.

Well how about you teach us these so called tricks that MS uses to get their bottom line, which in the end = net profits, something MS has more than Sony and Nintendo combined.

eastside49er

While I'm not able to find the original article simply put, they shift funds to different areas to make poorly performing divisions look a bit better, they retain a certain amount of the profits offshore where they aren't counted and if all else fails they invest less.

So they can make the same amount quarter on quarter but show "improvement" in certain divisions and still have a growth in revenue.

This does suck. I was looking forward to X07 to see what they had planned for next year. Hopefully we'll find out elsewhere.

I could be wrong, but didn't he also say that he thinks MS has just had a short run of bad luck and that this doesn't really spell the end of the 360?

When will lemmings realize that yes, the MS' gaming division is in danger. No company in the world is crazy enough to keep a division that even after 6 years, still doesn't make any profit!

I would not say thats necessarily true, Microsoft has displayed an interest before in losing ventures merely for defensive reasons and Xbox/360 are no different.

Part of Microsoft's problem at this point also is that there aren't enough different markets out there they are capable of subverting by now. They are certainly trying with the AV Software market but its actually highly competitive with many powerful veterans, they are trying with CRM but it remains to be seen what kind of effect they will actually have on salesforce, and I bet they are trying in a dozen different areas besides.

Microsoft's increased growth is entirely determinant upon expanding into markets and taking them over by any means necessary while retaining all of their prior customers. If all else fails try to wringe more money out of your customers. Why do you think that Office 2007 is incompatible in some respects with older versions?

Its certainly not technical limitations, they could just supply a patch for those versions if they wanted to. The entire reason it so people have to continually upgrade.

Why does this matter? Microsoft still has to do the Tokyo Game Show, and E4 (E For Everyone, which is open to the public).

Everything is different this year, because of the new E3. Should they have to do 4 big shows a year to tell us about the same games over and over? Doing E4 and X07 about the same time would be a waste of money and there time.

Besides, Microsoft has 2007 locked! They'll see how 2007 goes, and if they didn't feel as though they grabbed enough attention, then maybe X08 will return.

I agree this was not the best time to announce no X07 this year (after E3 disappointment, extended warranty due to hardware failures, and Peter Moore departing,) just doesn't look good, however, in all fairness it really was not necessary this year and probably a good cost cutting move.

Honestly we already know alot of X360 titles for 2008: Fable 2, Too Human, Banjo 3, Halo Wars, Alan Wake, GTA 4 exclusive content, Lost Odyssey, Cry On, UT3, Haze, etc. Of course Microsoft may use others events like TGS or GDC to fill in gaps and make other announcements.

No wonder they didn't show anything for 2008. For all we know they are going to recall or bail out by then.

Do they really need to announce anything? Fable 2, the inevitable Gears 2, Forza 3 blah blah blah.
