@gamecubepad: Nintendo see their consol as the vessel to bring their ideas to life, if 3rd party get on board, cool but it isn't the interest.

If they were going for the same game as Sony and Microsoft, they would have a standart CD for N64 instead of cartridge, they would have normal DVD for GC instead of mini disc etc ...

Microsoft started the to bring PC game to consol, before that it was rare.

It was Sony that started to bring PC games to consoles mainstream wise.

@FireEmblem_Man: Well the original Xbox got game like "Star Wars: Knight Of The Old Republic" which was also on PC and also got Half-Life 2 ... a serie original on PC that never came to PS2. Which gave the feeling the Xbox was the one bringing PC games to consol, opening the doors wide open for multiplat like we have today

When the economy work the way it is..that's how it is..if your company earn 1mil profit this year...the next year your company needs to earn 2mil or more...otherwise its not good enough. :P

The PS1 got Tomb Raider and Eidos had always been a PC company. Same for the Odd World series, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, and so on. You do bring a point, MS took a step further to bring the majority of PC developers to console gaming as you listed. I'm just stating that Sony first started the trend.

@Coco_pierrot:

Hopefully NX gets at least some 3rd-party support as a by-product of going x86. We're all in it for the Nintendo titles, but the system can't really go anywhere unless they start getting some standardized features. The WiiU is getting outsold by the XO, which had perhaps an even more notorious reveal than PS3. Sad, really.

We have not seen any good western support since the GC and N64 era in Nintendo Consoles. I wish we can get more like Bethesda, 2K, Rock Star, and more.

I'm surprised that @charizard1605 hasn't weight in on this issue with Nintendo.

Its not just about explaining what the concept is. The most important factor about any console is having games people actually want to play/buy. The NX just being a better Wii U won't cut it. The vast majority of gamers clearly don't care about about the kinds of games Nintendo makes. If they want the NX to succeed where the Wii U failed then they need to branch out and create different kinds of games that doesn't just appeal to the hardcore fan base.

Yes, marketing the console correctly is important, but GAMES >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> everything else.

But I thought hardware matters? That's what you said in my last thread.

Yup. Nintendo will always have an audience in the niche if they continue what they're doing, but if they wish to broaden their audience this Japan focus/games are not going to cut it anymore. 'Course many would think Nintendo doing anything than what they currently are would be selling out and akin to blasphemy....

You actually are miss thinking on what nintendo is doing ... they have extreme confidence in that the NX is the next big thing for nintendo ... They don't want to show it at E3 because you need content to show something off ... They also don't want the competition to copy them like they always seem to do ... Nintendo is doing the correct things with the NX this time around ... A strong games line-up is the most important thing ... the way social media works is if something gets posted its gonna get plastered everywhere on everything for all to see so it don't matter if nintendo does it on its own little media thing ... I think the nintendo fans are the ones worried and scared not nintendo ... e3 isn't e3 of old

To a point yes it does, but without games people want to play/buy it won't matter how powerful the console is.

As if Sony/Microsoft could copy and release any concept Nintendo would have revealed at E3 before the NX gets released. That's a bullshit excuse from Nintendo. A clear example is the Playstation Move which came out 4 yrs after the original Wii was released, so again I'm not buying this "We don't want them to steal our ideas." line.

Nintendo lost any chance with those guys because of the original Wii. Wii U never had the install base to be worth attempting a port, regardless of system capability.

Problem is, while Nintendo may hold confidence in the NX, I don't think they truly grasp how many hold questionable trust in them. It's not so much a problem of releasing in March or even using their own event to reveal the NX, but Nintendo's coming out of a period of their history that has been plagued with bad decision after bad decision, software droughts, outdated thinking and policies. This is a PR problem more than anything. They can ill-afford to remain silent at a time when people need assurances, especially after being pissed off with Zelda's delay.

This is the problem with their tone-deafness.....they either don't realize what's going on outside their walls, or don't care. They need to. If we're mis-thinking what Nintendo's doing, then it's their responsibility to correct that thinking. Leaving people to their own assumptions after the Wii U debacle is not prudent. They need to start forming a good, pro-active PR image.

@FireEmblem_Man: I think they trusted third party too much, should have released AAA first party games at launch.

I don't think they didn't have more AAA 1st party games at launch because they trusted 3rd party too much, rather, they didn't launch with AAA 1st party games because they didn't have any (i.e. poor management, not capable enough to develop within specified timeframes and hit development schedules).

Wii U lost money at first to pay for R&D. She all profit now baby.

"Wii U sales continue to have a "negative impact on Nintendo's profits,""

"Nintendo posted a 46.4 billion yen operating loss ($456 million)"

Lol. Such profit. Much success.

@locopatho: Selling the console at profit doesnt mean it will pay for your R&D cost and give your corporation a profit. Thank goodness the Wii U did.

I actually think they just aren't going to show it off at E3 only because it's too far from launch. If they show off the console at E3, all the hype iwll slow down before they launch in March of the next year. They are launching in March of next year so it doesn't launch beside PS4k and potentially the new xbox console.

It's purely a business decision to move the launch to later, and if they reveal it closer to launch, they can better capitalize on the hype for sales. It has nothing to do with them being 'scared' of competition, its just business. The big issue here is will they be able to reach a large enough audience to build the hype needed before it launches? I'm pretty sure not as many people watch their direct conferences vs E3.
