I'd do that to when I found out PS4 had a 110 game deficit, and that half of its AAAs were actually AA on other systems due to having more dedicated review sources.

If you went PC only, you missed out hard on this gen's biggest titles. God of War, Bloodborne, Zelda BOTW, Super Mario Odyssey, upcoming RDR2 and TLOU2. Those are all contenders for best game of this generation.
PC has a lot of high rated indies which tend to inflate it's numbers too. They're very good experiences, but you aren't going to get nearly as much of the blockbuster AAA experience on PC (besides multiplats) that you get on consoles.

According to Metacritic PC is objectively winning SW this gen. It has the most AAA+AA titles by a large margin.

So for example I would consider something like Stranded Deep to be a AA title where as something like Sim Airport would be strickly 'indie' seem fair?

1. That's the SW tally. We always look at AAA and AA. For over a decade now. PC is objectively first place here with the largest high scoring library. MC goes further and looks at A (75-79) scoring titles which puts PC even further ahead.
2. Why would 80-89 scoring games not count? This seems rather arbitrary.
3. 9 of PS4s AAAs are AA on PC. Even though they are better on PC. Why should these games not count?

Huh? PC has the most AAA (budget) games this gen vs any other 1 system.
The reason for this is it gets PS4 and XB1X games that don't go on each other. It simply has the most raw AAA multiplats.

Yup, meant to say exclusive. It's difficult to compare one free platform (PC) with a sea of user content and publishers offering their own services (steam, origin, uplay, etc.) with consoles' closed platforms in a one-to-one ratio.

Not as many as the other way around. There are 9 AAA titles on PS4 that scored AA on PC.

It's also worth pointing out that the above data counts A rated games in the tally..... A rated games are considered flops by SW rules.
What would be interesting is seeing the same data with 80+ score as the minimum to see how that affects the total numbers.
For example in 2018 PC has 38 games that are rated AA or above while PS4 has 42 rated AA above.
