According to Teamxbox, Halo 3's visuals will not improve much.

As a lemming, I'm very worried. Even Teamxbox said that they don't expect there to be much upgrade in the visuals in regards to the multiplayer version of the game.. They said visually, what we see it pretty much what we are going to get, with an addition of a few bells and whistles. Although I'm a lemming, I'm an honest one and I call them as I see them. I think the consensus from people who have actually PLAYED the game is that althought the visuals look good, they are infact a bit underwhelming.

I for one think this sad and I feel as if we could have had soooo much more. I don't understand why we can't have BOTH amazing gameplay as well as visuals. Why do we have to pick one or the other and not both? The xbox360 is an amazing powerful system and I for one don't think there is any valide excuse for not making this game look incredible. I really think Bungie is being forced to rush this game in time for the Holidays and in the process are taking short cuts when it comes to the visuals.

With that being said, I think the gameplay is looking pretty tight. However, the one thing that really bothers me is the 16 player max per game. I just don't see why they couldnt have at least icreased it a bit so that we could really have fun on the bigger maps. Even gamespot made a comment about how the bigger map in the beta seemed to take way to long to play even with 16 people playing. With the visuals not looking all that great thus giving the xbox360 left over power, I don't there is any valide excuse for not having the ability or option of having more players on screen at a time.

The 16 player part has little to do with the 360's power but more with peoples connections. You still depend on a hosts connection and if its not extremely good 16 players should be max. Resistance gets 40 players because its on dedicated servers.

I just think people should stop focusing on just graphics.  Gameplay and graphics is a key combo and i agree we shouldnt have to chose but the MAIN reason the graphics look so underwhelming is because the game was hyped to high heaven.  Dont people realize that nothing can be as good as the way a fanboy imagines it, and very few people have realistic expectations.

As for the 16 player max, I have Resistance and when I play 20 vs 20 its way to chaotic.  16 seems fine.

Personally I prefer the smaller number of people in a game.... 16 is plenty for me.  That said, I am also a little disappointed in the visuals, not because they are bad, but just because I was expecting more.  It still looks much better than Halo2, which I still have fun playing.  The SP game had better look better than the MP though, or there will be HE** to pay!

The single player graphics will look amazing, the game still has about 5 months left to improve every area, including graphics, so don't worry that much. Halo was never the best game for graphics on the old Xbox anyway, Bungie has always been more focused on getting a good framerate and keeping the action fresh.

The single player graphics will look better because Bungie dosent have to worry about 16 other players, jus tthe Masterchief.

Halo 3 will not be the best looking game out.  Probably won't be in the top 5.  My hope though is that the gameplay is unamtched!!

No, I didnt have a problem with Halo 2. I thought the single player could have been a bit better but I did like the game. I will be the first one to admit it. I LOVE really good graphics. Thats one of the biggest reasons I bought the xbox360 which is a nextgen system. If I didnt care, I would have just kept my xbox and not upgraded.  I think Halo 3 looks good but it does not impress me.

honestly, is that too much to ask for after I spent 400 bones on a nextgen system. I KNOW the xbox360 is capable of so much more than this. I really think its coming down to Bungie rushing this game in and in the process cutting corners especially when it comes to the visuals.

They look great? Most people that have actually PLAYED the game say the visuals look "good", not "great." Most say it looks good but is, in some ways, underwhelming. Heck, even teamxbox, which are all fellow lemmings, say the visuals are underwhelming. Now that says a lot!

Because they were expecting too much from the game. If you put asside the hype and actually look at the game for what it is, it looks great.

Bungie even said that in the MP aspect, they cant make their maps very dark, or blurry (aka Gears) from far away due to eyesight. It would mes up the flow of the game. Bungie is smart, you guys arnt

I care about both! Like I said, if I didn't care about graphics and only cared about gameplay, I would have stayed with my original xbox and not spent 400 bones on the xbox360. The reason I purhcased the xbox360 was because I wanted great gameplay AS WELL as great visuals. Only the most BLIND fanboys would say that Halo 3 looks amazing. I'm a 100% lemming and I say that while Halo 3 looks GOOD, it is FAR from AMAZING.

Fellow lemmings, its called being honest and calling them how you see them. You may want to try it. I for one put more credence in the oppinions of those who have actually played the game. The concensus with those who actually played the game is that although the game looks good, it is a bit underwhelming. I for one want both amazing gameplay as well as visuals.

Those claiming ownage or worrying the graphics look average are quite uninformed. Bungie have a history of making decent looking games look incredible in the last few weeks of production. This is the reason Forza 2 is looking sweet when it looked average before. Most games do this, it's what the last 5 weeks of production are for.

As for 16 players, it was laggy as heck on H2 and I rarely played more than 12 player games with it. So it makes no difference for me.

Instead of going by Teamxbox's assumption on Halo 3's future visuals based on the Beta, let's wait for the final version of Halo 3 to be released before making any judgements. I tell you, this corrupeted crystal ball is infecting video game media websites now...

You got it my friend.

"The visuals are now in HD, though honestly, they probably will leave many unimpressed. But really, no one will care if Halo 3 doesn't look like Gears of War as long as it plays great. And, after an hour of playtime, I think Halo 3 might just deliver"

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/787/787935p2.html

"After playing a series of matches, I started to get a bit more critical of the game once my journalistic side took over. As I mentioned earlier, I was not too impressed with the game's visuals and this was probably the first bit of criticism I noted to myself and others standing by. Some of the effects such as explosions and weapon fire do look a good deal better than what we've seen before, but I was not too won over by overall appearance of the environments themselves. The maps were well designed and well laid out, but graphically, they just didn't give that "next-gen" feeling of the more immersive surroundings that we've come to expect from the Xbox 360. By this I mean the subtle details we've seen in various next-gen games that create a more encompassing, living, breathing world. Halo 3's environments are definitely not bad looking, but they just don't seem to have that level of detail that makes us feel as though we are being transported from our living rooms to another world"

Yes. Bungie improved the graphics 180% in 4-5 months (probably didnt focus on the graphics until 2-3 months before release)

It might be a "copout" but the viddocs I have seen on H3 really get me excited for the game.  The gameplay will be incredibly awesome.  Also, Bungie is not really known for groundbreaking graphics.  Having said this, the visuals should still be great! (just not the best)

Visuals are not what has ever impressed me about the Halo series, and if that is all that you are worried about, you might just be missing the point of gaming, which is that games are supposed to be fun much moreso than visually stunning, and Halo has always been very fun and very solid.

Bungie made Halo 1 in 7-8 months for the Xbox 1 launch, and look how amazing the graphics were. The graphics improved 180% from E3 (June?) to November

was your claim supporting my point or not? it wasn't clear.

Yes. Bungie improved the graphics 180% in 4-5 months (probably didnt focus on the graphics until 2-3 months before release)

Well yean they have a tendancy to overhaul features such as graphics late in the development. Just remember Halo E3 and Halo when it was released...

People, thats what I mean. Yes, the visuals look good but not "NEXT-GEN" good. That is not what I purchased my xbox360 for. Will I still being picking up my pre-ordered Halo 3? Hell yes I will be. However, I am very disappointed in Bunggie. I expected WAY more out of them.

i saw this one coming. this game wont even be AAA

You saw what coming?  Your ownage?  Have no fear this game is still AAA.  It may be just a 9.2 or so instead of a 9.5 or 9.6.  Don't get it twisted, this game may not be the best visually, but overall it will score AAA.

ok thanks for the link, now kindly point to the part where they say that the visuals wont get any better?

because the only thing said is that no one will care if they dont, they never once said one time that the visuals couldn't or wouldn't get better.

I see your point and agree to an extent. However, is there a reason why we can't have amazing visuals as well?
