Yearly releases are actually not good for games like CoD, its understandable sports games get roster updates especially in football as so much can change in the space of ayear but FPS games do not need new iterations every year especially CoD its hardly changed at all.

I don't see how talking bad about Call of Duty, or any game in general will harm the industry. Even though some people tend to make it sound very personal, it doesn't mean the industry is in danger. They are still opinions, be it good or bad. There has been anti-CoD talk even before MW2 came out. If it hasn't hurt it then, it won't hurt it now.

If you want to talk about CoD's "influence" on the games, they mostly only influence first person shooters. Of course, that all depends on the developer's decision to let CoD guide their pre-production/full production cycle. Every other genre seems to be doing well without its influence.

EA is showinglack of confidence in BF3 and desperation if they need to resort to fanboyish comments like "die CoD, die :cry: ".

Not that I blame them, they probably know that besides technical merits, MW3 is going to be superior in every way.
