Adjusting to 30fps and below on consoles is difficult.

First console game in a decade. I would have stuck with the PC, but it was upgrade time and I got tired of Windows updates breaking things and the driver incompatibility problems. Replaying the Witcher 3 on Xbox one. I hadn't realized the new consoles were so weak. Cities are pretty much empty and dense, wooded areas sometimes feel like a slideshow.

Is this something that I'll eventually get used to? I'm hoping my eyes adjust :) Would have picked up a PS4, but that controller is a deal-breaker, and I'm sure games like this are still capped at 30 there, as well.

It's nice to have a machine where I can just start a game and have it work as it was intended without configuring anything, but it's nauseating sometimes with the low frame rates.

You'll get used to it. 30fps used to give me eyestrain bordering on headaches but I got used to it in about a week or two.

Its amazing how many non pc gamer , pc gamers seem to have broken windows and driver compat problems yet the other hundreds of millions of us get along just fine

If you keep having to configure your pc to play games then you are doing ti wrong and its all an error on you part.

I agree its also awesome to have a machine that just works, on my PC i dont even have to insert a disc or have to install mandatory updates before i can use it , on pc i can delay the updates till later and just click on an icon on my desktop and my ssd loads the game super fast then im playing long before many console gamers, must be so awkward on your more complicated consoles that take more steps to use.....*end douchebag mode* :P

Its almost like pc gaming in 2017 doesn't require a phd, although judging by the ability of some of you im sure its still a monumentally tricky task :P

I honestly can't remember the last time I had an issue with windows or a windows update. Must have been with Windows Vista, at a guess.

Literally every game that came out before the advent of progressive scan TVs was 30fps or below. So, anything generation 5 and below is off-limits to you because you are such a unique butterfly.

@naz99: please! Every other AMD and Nvidia update breaks a game that was once working just fine, or is required for every other game released. I'm updating my video drivers every time a big game released. What a giant pain in the ass. Then there are the window updates that break things that worked just fine.

Anyone who claims that PC gaming is hassle free is lying, plain and simple. No one buys your bullshit.

HAHA so optional automatic non required (unlike you claim} driver updates are what you class as a GIANT pain in the ass, do you also despair in the morning when you wake up and have to go through the hassle of breathing or using your legs to walk anywhere?

And look I get it, you're salty because you dont know how to use a computer but making claims like

"please! Every other AMD and Nvidia update breaks a game that was once working just fine,"

and

"It's nice to have a machine where I can just start a game and have it work as it was intended without configuring anything,"

Is utter nonsense, its funny you have the gall to claim others talk bullshit after the amount you just spewed, and i will take my 30 years of knowledge and experience of computers over your dumbass false unproven claims anyday, unless you provide citation of course that these are general platform wide normal problems and not mostly limited to single incidents of a single users, i'm always open to being proven wrong.

Also i never claimed and nobody ever claims pc's to be hassle free but neither are consoles not that you would point that out, and there will always be that tiny minority that have random problems due to the openess of the hardware but thats a rare exception not the rule , just none of what you said is true or a hassle, great work there.

So nobody buys YOUR Bullshit sweetheart, plain and simple.

If you had made these claims back in the 90's over 20 years ago when consoles were fully plug and play and computers were not at all, you may have had a point but now its just laughable, the only idiots to make those claims these days are grossly uninformed fanboy console gamers,

No thanks. The only time I saw a Windows update break a game was that time when MS disabled disc-based games. It only affected those who still had moldy, decades-old games that required the disc in the drive, like me for example. But, modern, digital versions were okay. The problem didn't last long either. I was ranting about it here at GS when another poster said MS already released another update that fixed the problem. Oh, yeah. That was the disc-based Crysis. ;)

Drivers are rarely an issue unless you use SLI or Crossfire. That is why I recommend single GPU. The truth is PC is easier than ever for gaming. Just about everything can be automated and behind the scenes if you want it to be. Consoles keep getting more complicated. It is funny how that works. I still think consoles are easier, but they do not compare in terms of quality. PC destroys consoles and only an idiot would downgrade to a console as their primary platform.

Anyone who claims that PC gaming is hassle free is lying, plain and simple. No one buys your bullshit.

The biggest hassle I have with PC gaming is having to dig my consoles out of the closet on the rare occasion a good exclusive comes out.

Seriously... I'll never understand people who complain about PC gaming being difficult. I never have issues. It's literally easier than using a console because I don't have to deal with discs or install times. That shit seams archaic to me. I rarely update my drivers, but when I do it usually works without a hitch and takes 5 min. (pro tip: If it ain't broke, don't fix it)

You say it was time for you to upgrade. What hardware do you have? I can see maybe having issues with older hardware - maybe before 2012 or something like that. PC hardware has been very solid and user-friendly for a while now though.

Why don't you give us some real examples of your issues? Right now it's pretty tough to buy the bullshit you're peddling. Oh wait... If you were for real you probably would have posted this in the PC forums instead of System Wars.

As far as driver issues, while it's no where near the same it once was, all sorts of various issues can crop up for any PC gamer and you could even be the only one known to have such an issue.

Like me and SteamVR, often my dashboard doesn't come up properly in either Vive or Rift and no amount of driver changes or OS reinstalls ever fixed it either neither does swapping to beta's, but I'm also apparently the few online that ever has it. Google it and it seems only my questions and complaints regarding it come up lol. A few weeks ago I had a weird and sudden issue with the Broadcom Wifi chip driver. It caused Windows to crash and it was the newest driver that had been using just fine for a while. I had to let Windows install it's default generic driver to fix it. A few months back I had a weird issue with search...it just stopped working despite the service running. Eventually had to reinstall Windows 10 to fix it.

I reinstall Windows 10 regularly anyway just to keep things running smooth and I use portable apps if I need 3rd party software when possible but it still can happen at any moment. Same with OS X and Linux...actually had worse issues with Linux distro's than any other OS I've ever used.

That's just the way PC gaming is, if you say you never have any issues whatsoever then either you are a liar or you don't have a gaming PC. Just because all you had to do to fix many issues is to reboot or something more simple to resolve doesn't mean you can say that PC gaming has no issues. Consoles also have issues that people experience except it's usually shared by more people than just yourself but the main difference is that with PC, there's an infinite amount of ways that you can screw it up because the software isn't locked down like it is on console.

@pyro1245: rx 470 with an fx 6300, which is starting to struggle in modern games like gears 4 and fallout 4.

Biggest issue I've had is with windows 10 anniversary update killing virtual surround sound from my sound blaster, which works great before the update.

Had an r9 270 before the rx 470 and driver 15.11.1 caused black screen after login. Had to boot into safe mode and roll back the driver.

I remember plenty of times getting driver crashes in win 10 with the message "display driver stopped responding".

Most of the time things were fine, but PC gaming is definitely more work and hassle. A better cpu meant Intel, a new mb, new ram, and a new copy of Windows. Way more than the $199 for the Xbox one. Just need to get used to the lower frame rates.

Bullshit or you suck at computers.

Also, even if this was true, it's worth the 2-4 minutes it takes to fix compared to playing great games such as Witcher 3 at 20 fucking fps on LOLstation4. Your eyes will get used to it, but you're settling for so much less and killing your eye sight for no reason. Lets not even mention the games also look and load far worse. Such long load times haha.

@zaryia: I don't have a lol station. I have a much weaker console, the Xbox one, and yes, load times are much worse than on my PC!

What I don't have to even think about anymore it's whether or not a game will work and I don't have to waste time configuring it. I like that.

Yeah, you were doing good up until this point. I've been on 3 different gaming PCs over the course of this gen. I've had one single issue. The Bethesda splash screen glitched up as I was starting Doom 4 for the first time. Restarted the game and it worked flawlessly. That's it. About a good 10 seconds of inconvenience. No different from when a game freezes up on a console.

I have no reason to lie about it. No slavish devotion to my PC. No deeply rooted history with the platform, I was mostly a console gamer from gen 2 all the way up through gen 7 and still game on them now. My PC is just another box that plays games.

That being said, yes, I do agree with you. There is plenty of room for things to fall through the cracks on PC. It can be the platform itself. It can be the user. But to say that we're lying because we're not experiencing issues like you are is asinine. It would be like if I said that nobody is experiencing issues on PC simply because I don't experience them.

Ahh your only example multimonitor support used by a tiny fraction of the userbase and the update didnt even break it entirely it was a bug that caused an error under certain settings....and could be avoided by just not updating anyway, when you make statements implying that these problems are platform wide and normal and then give a single example of a feature which is used by a tiny fraction of people in the single digit percentile you fail to prove a point and fully display your idiocy, congrats

As expected you double down on the childish retorts and stupidity, ignoring what i said and perfectly prove my point.

System Wars, people get overly defensive about plastic, of course. That's every fanboy here, not a PC gamer thing lol.

I was referring to these bits.

Windows is perfect and never has a single problem they scream!

It's like they feel they have been personally insulted.

Nobody is saying that PC gaming is perfect for everyone. Shit happens, we know. It would take a miracle for literally every configuration out there run a game perfectly. But it's a bit silly when we constantly get fakeboy accounts talking about constant issues like we're still in the 90's. PC gaming wouldn't be booming the way it is if these issues were anywhere near as prevalent as they're made out to be.

And simply responding to these kinds of posts doesn't mean we're personally insulted about a piece of plastic. How do you expect people to respond? In agreement?

I know you like to act like you have no stake in this stuff, but you sure have a knack for selectively perceiving what goes on in these PC gaming discussions.

@ConanTheStoner: I don't prefer the PC so I'm more inclined to be contrarian regarding it in these fanboy war posts. I do understand it's greatly improved. I don't have an up to date gaming rig but that doesn't mean I don't use Windows daily for other things and I have had my share of headaches with it. If anyone dares use the " hassle" argument against PC gaming we always see the super serious PC defense force out. It's silly to me but I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings. PC's are great for gaming. So are Xboxes and Playstations and Nintendos for that matter.

It's obvious that the truth hurts you. The butthurt your are exhibiting is pretty harsh.

Nah abject stupidity and incompetence hurts me and its radiating from you like a nuclear star

And are you a child using the tired internet cliche of "oh you must be butthurt" because that would be petty as a fully grown adult as they usually use a thing called a discussion.

Are you really that short on arguments or just totally incapable :)

Wow. The butthurt and defensiveness you are exhibiting is astounding! Boo hoo. Someone showed how pc gaming is more complicated and it made me upset. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!

You think you are getting me angry or showing me up or something by coming across as an immature petulant child?

You actually think making yourself look like an idiot to everyone here is somehow showing me or annoying me, and not actually making me laugh at you and feel sorry for you at the same time??

And whats even more idiotic is despite failing to show anything or prove anything you proclaim victory by saying you did, another cliche internet fail, seriously tell me you are not an adult that would be tragic.

So...... wow, just wow, you sure showed me i guess?

@naz99: Awww. Look, I snagged a hermit on the defensive! He's getting so defensive because console gaming is easier. It's OK. Take deep breaths.

You personally are not hurting anyones feelings and nobody is saying its problem free anyone claiming that would be lying but for everyday general gaming it mostly is, but when you are responding to someone thats saying its a GIANT hassle to do anything, Drivers break games in EVERY release and You Have to constantly update Everytime, which is a blatant lie,and pretending that hassle free automatic optional updates are somehow a big problem, you being informed feel compelled to point out that thats not the case then everyone crys that you are butthurt, like pointing out facts and squashing misinformation is a bad thing to do so the truth = butthurt.........

It's just odd

@naz99: No one has said pc gaming is a giant hassle. You're reading shit that no one has written and getting all defensive about it.

If constantly replying to you is going to get you to respond to me like this everytime then im fine keeping it going, you are only showing yourself up...

I'm perfectly willing to be the platform for you to display your stupidity, lets call it a public service :)

@naz99: Please don't get the impression I'm trying to back up the OP's stance. He's on his own on that one. I think it's entertaining though when people take it all so serious. I'm mostly just killing time at work right now so I shouldn't be paid any attention. People should continue gaming on what they want for whatever reasons even if they are dumb ones.

@mark1974:

Pretty much what naz99 said, though with the addendum that yeah, on occasion there will be some butthurt fanboys from time to time. It's a game forum specifically created for fanboys to shill for plastic and bite each others heads off, it happens lol.

But in this case we're just dealing with yet another fresh account fakeboy. For all we know this dude could be an avid PC gamer just stirring the shit.

Definitely. I'm back on my PC now, but for the past couple of months it's been nothing but Switch and PS4 for me. It's all about the games at the end of the day, not the boxes that play them.

Lol, not at all, i prefer to treat you individually based on what you alone say i dont automatically hate on everyone that finds fault with something i like, there are always faults with the things i like sometimes those faults are what make me like it :D

But apparently im furious at this guy for acting like a child and making untrue hyperbolic statemnts as me being the rational one i guess annoys me? so that means he has got one over on me or something im not sure i havent worked it out yet, just general System wars Window licking in full effect :P

@ConanTheStoner: yeah, I mean this guy is clearly trolling and trying to get a reaction. That's actually appropriate here. It's what this place is for as far as I can tell. I'll play along up to a point. Is this forum anything more than a time killing distraction for anybody? There are some cool posters here but if you want actual informed video game discussion that can be minimal at best around here.
