Adjusting to 30fps and below on consoles is difficult.

60Hz is actually really low when you compare to frame rates of older PC games. The minimum I ran old games was 75Hz on CRT, more as soon I could get a monitor with higher refresh rates. By the time I swapped to a flat screen monitor I was gaming at 120Hz on CRT.

60 Hz was very flickery on a CRT monitor. I mean it can literally give the viewer migraines. 72 Hz was the minimum bearable refresh rate and even that had some flickering. 75 Hz looked stable enough up front. But, it too had a slight flickering at the peripheral vision. I think 85 Hz was the standard (by the late 90's) for flicker-free refresh rates. That's why it was the most common. The move to LCD eliminated flickering at 60 Hz which is why I'm still fine with it.

A 60 Hz LCD doesn't hurt my eyes the way a 60 Hz CRT does.

I was quite susceptible to CRT screen flicker headaches and really suffered with 60Hz. 75Hz was the bare minimum I could handle but as soon as I got a monitor capable of 85Hz, probably mid 90's, everything was absolutely fine.

I was admittedly fairly slow on the uptake of LCD panels because of the 60Hz refresh rate but that was mainly down to me not understanding the differences in the way LCD's refreshed compared to CRT's. Besides my massive (it was literally huge and very heavy) 21" Ilyama was running at 120Hz and I saw no real reason to change.

50 - 60Hz on a modern monitor is fine but I definitely notice the difference when gaming at 30, even 3m or 4m away from a TV, it's just horrible. What's worse is that horrible post processing effects like motion blur are pretty much required at low screen rates and really boils my blood :)

I use Windows drivers for sound anyway, because my audio interface uses them. Yeah Windows update pretty much takes care of most things. I update my video drivers frequently, but I don't put effort in, Geforce Experience just lets me know and then I do it. Not a big deal.

I don't even use GeForce Experience. I stick with just the graphics driver, PhysX, and HDMI audio <---just in case I use my HDMI-DVI cable.

I do that, I don't use the express install, I do the custom install. I don't need any of the 3D stuff. It sort of bothers me to have useless stuff I'm not using on my PC. I install the same stuff. I keep their audio driver, just because my monitor also has speakers.

It's nice to have a machine where I can just start a game and have it work as it was intended without configuring anything, but it's nauseating sometimes with the low frame rates.

Games are not "intended" to work below 30 fps. That's a limitation of consoles holding them back from how they actually are intended to run.

yeah I was being snarky about the thread we had about that a while back. IMO Horizon is gorgeous and plays well at 30fps

I'm glad it made an impression! ;) I'd say Horizon is artistically gorgeous as well. It's a shame there's so much blurring in it that it detracts from the environment for me, but there's no doubt it's vistas (especially in hdr) are breathtaking.

To the OP: I don't know how you could get used to 30fps, but I guess it's possible. I personally hate 30fps...it creates a barrier to my involvement in the game (immersion) that I just can't ever get over. To each their own, but 30fps really just distracts me, even if I'm enjoying the game. I play Forza H3 on pc (1440/144hz or 4k/60) and just for fun I went to the xbone to check it out a few days ago...man, for me, it's like a different game entirely at 30fps...it looks horrid, the controls feel delayed.

Oh, God. Here we go again. Just bought an rx 460 to tide me over for a year or two because this xbox one's fan is making an annoying ticking noise. I install it and load the witcher 3 and surprisingly, it plays the game better than my xbox one. lulz. I go out and come back two hours later to restart the game and it will now only start minimized, after windows installed some goofy little update. I can see it in the taskbar, but can't bring it to the forefront. Cant open task manager and click "bring to front". Spent 20 minutes online only to find out that I have to change fullscreen from 2 to 1 in the user settings file.

Yeah, PC gaming is soooo hassle free. It's stupid shit like this that enrages me about pc gaming.

Of course YOU are having problems ....that's because you are stupid as Fu*k, as you have shown us all many times over in this thread, :)

The only problem I had with Windows 10 (at the moment) was during the first few months after I free upgrade to Windows 10. My Nvidia Control Panel was having a problem with my 750 TI + Philips monitor. It was not allowing me to have a screen size bigger than the default screen size which is 1366x768.

After a few nvidia driver updates, it allowed me again to.

I felt the same way with BF1. Coming from 100 fps down to sub 30 made the controls feel so sluggish when I tried it on my friend's Xbone. It didn't help that it was a controller, either; I hate controllers in shooter games.

Its amazing how many non pc gamer , pc gamers seem to have broken windows and driver compat problems yet the other hundreds of millions of us get along just fine

If you keep having to configure your pc to play games then you are doing ti wrong and its all an error on you part.

I agree its also awesome to have a machine that just works, on my PC i dont even have to insert a disc or have to install mandatory updates before i can use it , on pc i can delay the updates till later and just click on an icon on my desktop and my ssd loads the game super fast then im playing long before many console gamers, must be so awkward on your more complicated consoles that take more steps to use.....*end douchebag mode* :P

Its almost like pc gaming in 2017 doesn't require a phd, although judging by the ability of some of you im sure its still a monumentally tricky task :P

I have encountered broken Surround 3 display problem with Nvidia GPU yesterday. The problem was workaround with a second reboot. I haven't encountered 3 display problem on R9-390X.

GeForce Experience app has crashed multiple times on one of my machine with 980 Ti. I fixed it with a manual driver update. My other machine with GTX 1080 Ti doesn't have GeForce Experience app.

I plan to purchase RX Vega on my 980 Ti machine.

Adjusting to a mouse and keyboard is really hard. I mean mouse/keyboard is meant for a business environment and not gaming. I hope you enjoy a smoother frame rate at the expense of quality gaming.

Just because you can't adapt to other control methods does not make your chosen one better.

Agreed. Seems a lot of consolites don't understand you can game with controller on pc, as well as m/kb. It's like a console, with 1 potentially serious upgraded option for control. But they think m/kb is forced. If the game is a multiplat, there's controller support. I use my kb/m OR my Elite controller...depending on how I feel and where I'm at. It's nice to have options.

First console game in a decade. I would have stuck with the PC, but it was upgrade time and I got tired of Windows updates breaking things and the driver incompatibility problems. Replaying the Witcher 3 on Xbox one. I hadn't realized the new consoles were so weak. Cities are pretty much empty and dense, wooded areas sometimes feel like a slideshow.

Is this something that I'll eventually get used to? I'm hoping my eyes adjust :) Would have picked up a PS4, but that controller is a deal-breaker, and I'm sure games like this are still capped at 30 there, as well.

Scorpio + Witcher 3 + Patch = Native 4K, 60fps Ultra settings PC version.

Isn't it interesting how a control method that is supposedly "meant for business" can outperform(in most genres) a control method that is for "gaming?"

I will see people having a similar problem going from Scorpio True 4K back to The Pro (Amature) and having to deal with half baked 4K immatation.

The only reason I manage to game on PC is because I have a mental link with Stephen Hawking and Bill Gates, who are currently locked in my basement.

Without them, there is no way I would go to the hassle of gaming on PC. I mean, having to browse all those games, find a good deal, click "install" and then click "play"...man, I don't know if I could do it on my own!

And 30 FPS! WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO!!!??!??
