Advantages of consoles over Pc

Apparently, my PC is in the top 5%, and it certainly can run anything I throw at it on Ultra (Far Cry 4 is gorgeous). It's funny, because I enjoy consoles and give them the credit they are due and choose to use a controller, you crazy rabid PC fanboys go nuts at me. Weird as hell. I don't get why you freaks have to pick a "team" and then spit hate at the other "team". PC gaming is awesome but has it's flaws. Console gaming is awesome but has it's flaws. It's ok to be honest about both!

And I'll repeat, I've played Titanfall for dozens of a hours with a controller and have done very well. It's not my fault you can't use a controller :D

The only auto aim in Titanfall is that Auto Target Pistol. I've never used it, a lot of the "PC Master Race" with their "100% accurate mouse and keyboard" seem to need it though ;)

That's not to say PC gaming doesn't have its advantages, it does but hermits try to paint it like it has no disadvantages which is false.

PC's are absolutely the cheapest route if you stretch things out over years, the cost of games in the long run counter-acts the initial startup costs of PC gaming. Convenience is a gray area and comes with experience on PC, to someone who is not exactly familiar with PC gaming it may seem daunting at first but the more you get familiarized with the platform the more convenient it gets. The initial learning curve is what turns people away and they don't want to mess with it, that's all.

If I remember correctly he's running very outdated PC hardware, something like an 8800 GTS from 2008 and other obviously dated components, I wouldn't exactly qualify him as a PC gamer. 125 million active accounts is the most up to date figure for Steam.

Dark Souls is made by From Software, whereas Rise of Incarnates is from the internal dev teams of Bandai Namco.

So yeah, console gamers still have the advantage of not being expected to like a game clearly inferior to what they actually want and are allowed to complain about their games if something goes wrong.

If we were to do so much as to complain about Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, Square-Enix will think we're too whiny to have FFXV just as how Bandai Namco Studios thinks we're too whiny to have Tales.

I'm not talking shit about PC gaming. I love PC gaming and I've been a PC gamer for close to 23 years now. There's a difference between a PC gamer and a hermit. A hermit is someone that games on PC that thinks everything other than PCs is garbage and no other good gaming experiences can be found elsewhere. I'm not that type of "PC gamer". I'm a PC gamer that enjoys both consoles and PC like I've said multiple times on SW. I don't see either platforms as being better than the other and I embrace their advantages and disadvantages

No doubt about it, PC gaming is better. What a few people like me are saying though is that despite PC's overwhelming advantages, consoles gaming does have a few perks that might attract some people to it or even make them prefer consoles. I'm sure you and most reasonable gamers can agree to that.

One of the things I enjoy about PC gaming is backwards compatibility.

When I originally played Mass Effect 1 when it released on PC I had an 8800gt and I played the game at 1680x1050 max details with around 50-60fps.

Now with my new PC build I can go back and replay the game at 4k (3840x2160) downsampled to 1440p (2560x1440) with some mods and still get 60fps.

New consoles are not even backwards compatible but even if they were they will still run the game the same as before with the same visuals.

Console players would have to rebuy the remastered edition of the game to enjoy it again on their new platform.

More? To some gamers. It all depends what you want. A gamer who values split screen co op (which I do, very highly) will find PC to be almost worthless in that regard, while a console like the 360 offers dozens of co op campaigns. Another gamer might only play MMO games, and in that respect PCs dominate and consoles barely have scraps.

There's piles of advantages and disadvantages on both sides. There's no point trying to create the narrative of "the one true system".

The only advantage is price, everything else is false or doesn't apply anymore (superior optimization and split screen for example)

I wouldn't even go as far as saying price is an advantage a console holds. If you start from scratch, no TV, no couch etc, they're pretty evenly matched in terms of price, then you get all of the cost benefits of PC games and it becomes a landslide.

Split screen co op has pretty much died on consoles in the present though.

One thing I do like with PC is that I can emulate old console games and rig it so I can play online multiplayer with friends in games as old as Golden Axe for the Sega Genesis.

you don't need a tv, you can play (as im doing) on a monitor. A couch? lol what else, a floor and electricity? No matter what anyone says, but things like a tower, windows, decent mouse/kb is needed and that's not even including the priciest items like the gpu etc. You could say 'use your current mice/kd' but if you never had gaming pc, those peripherals are probably trash. Its like using a shitty $25 3rd party controller instead of a Dualshock 4, f*ck that.

If you're going based on generalities and what the typical person would likely have it would be about a $250 couch and a $400 40" TV. That's an extra $650 just to get started from base, for the average PC gamer $169 for a monitor, $120 for a desk, $30 for a keyboard, $30 for a mouse, $15 for a mouse pad, $40 for a headset, $15 power strip, $30 for windows key, $50 for chair and then lets say $700 for the PC.

That brings the console startup cost to around $1050 and the PC startup to $1199, the perceived lower cost of console gaming is an absolute illusion.

@nyadc: who the hell includes a tv, chair, couch, desk etc? Come on... A 'good' gaming pc with a solid $100-130 tower (one with actual airflow, unless you're into cooking stuff on it), 1tb hdd, $70 ssd etc will cost around $800. Ps4 is $450 with ps+. This is the consoles advantage.

You can't just buy a console and expect to hook it up to air and you're not going to sit on the floor, most people would buy a couch, and most people would buy a roughly 40" TV, these things would add about $650 to the startup cost, also thank you for reminding me about PS+, that brings the console startup costs up to about $1,100.

Just like the PC when factoring in cost you have to start at absolute zero.
