Alan Wake = underrated game?

I keep hearing more and more people praising this game, but the reviewers seem to not agree at all. 82 on MC now.

Either this game is really not so great or gamers like me should just stop looking at Metacritic scores.

Honestly I do tend to trust reviewers, but this game is really a thriller even when it comes to scores and gamers' opinions.

It'd be really incredible if this game was to go down to AE's on metacritic.

I'm going to wait till I play it before I go that far, one of the guys from joystiq said he was suprised that it wasn't close to 95 on metacritic said it's his second favorite game of the year so far.

I played 2 hours of it today at a friends who got it early, game is awesome!

Cant wait to get my copy 2morrow with Red Dead.

The 2 hours I spent on it, where some of the best gaming ive done on a console so far this year.

9/10 for me but again I only played 2-3 hours.

GameSpot has underrated quite a few games this year, it's not just Alan Wake.

Grand Theft Auto IV scored 98 on Metacritic, hence according to that site, this game is one of the best titles of all time.

But the problem is that MC uses a handfull of reviews, in fact the AAA-AAAA are vastly more than the mediocre ones

Check out all reviews below, that is the only way to see if a game is worth it, than look at 1/10 of them because MC said so

BTW anything from 8.5 and up is considered to be a great must buy game

I played it, finished it, can only complain about the length, which means I really liked the game and I wanted ti to be longer.

Agreed, even the 9.0/10 for Demon Soul feels a bit low, the game is close to 9.5-10 for me

Dude, this is SW. We only play scores or sales. If you want to play games, go to the general discussion or platform specific sections.

But if you want to get technical, this isn't the forum to discuss whether or not you felt a exclusive title's score was warrented, because this is System Wars, not the xbox forum.

You're right, but this is the proper section for whining. All the other forums got tired of it so SW was created to facilitate all the whining, crying fanboys.

I can't say since I haven't played it yet. I might grab a copy until June.

As for AW being under / overrated. I'm not even sure. From reading the reviews, the comments seem to correlate with the scores. I'll make a decision whenever I get it myself :).
